1 After all this was over, those Israelites who had been present went forth to the cities of Judah and smashed the sacred pillars, cut down the sacred poles, and tore down the high places and altars throughout Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim and Manasseh, until all were destroyed. Then the Israelites returned to their various cities, each to his own possession.	1 Compiute secondo il rito que­ste cose, tutti gl'israeliti che si trovavano nelle città di Giuda, andarono a spezzare i simulacri, a tagliare i boschetti, a demolire gli alti luoghi, ad atterrare gli altari, non solo in tutto Giuda e Beniamino, ma anche in Efraim e Manasse, finché non li ebbero distrutti del tutto. Poi tutti i fi­gli d'Israele se ne tornarono nei loro possessi e nelle loro città.
2 Hezekiah reestablished the classes of the priests and the Levites according to their former classification, assigning to each priest and Levite his proper service, whether in regard to holocausts or peace offerings, thanksgiving or praise, or ministering in the gates of the encampment of the LORD.	2 Ezechia ristabilì le varie classi dei sacerdoti e dei leviti, secondo le loro divisioni, ognuno al suo ufficio, tanto dei sacerdoti come dei leviti, per gli olocausti, per le ostie pacifiche, per i servizi, per le lodi, per il canto, alle porte del campo del Signore.
3 From his own wealth the king allotted a portion for holocausts, those of morning and evening and those on sabbaths, new moons and festivals, as prescribed in the law of the LORD.	3 La parte del re era di dar delle proprie sostanze, perchè si offrisse sempre l'olocausto la mattina e la sera, nei sabati, nel primo dei mesi e nelle altre solennità, come sta scritto nella legge di Mosè.
4 He also commanded the people living in Jerusalem to provide the support of the priests and Levites, that they might devote themselves entirely to the law of the LORD.	4 Comandò pure al popolo che abitava in Gerusalemme di dar le loro parti ai sacerdoti e ai leviti, affinchè potessero attendere alla legge del Signore.
5 As soon as the order was promulgated, the Israelites brought, in great quantities, the best of their grain, wine, oil and honey, and all the produce of the fields; they gave a generous tithe of everything.	5 Appena giunto quest'ordine all'orecchio della moltitudine, i figli d'Israele offersero moltissime primizie del grano, del vino, dell'olio, e anche del miele, ed offersero le decime di tutto quel­lo che produce la terra.
6 Israelites and Judahites living in other cities of Judah also brought in tithes of oxen, sheep, and things that had been consecrated to the LORD, their God; these they brought in and set out in heaps.	6 Anche i figli d'Israele e di Giuda che abitavano nelle città di Giuda, offersero le decime dei buoi, delle pecore, e le decime delle cose santificate, che avevan votate al Signore Dio loro, e, portate tutte queste cose, ne fecero parecchi mucchi,
7 It was in the third month that they began to establish these heaps, and they completed them in the seventh month.	7 che, cominciati nel terzo mese, furon finiti il settimo.
8 When Hezekiah and the princes had come and seen the heaps, they blessed the LORD and his people Israel.	8 Quando Ezechia e i suoi prin­cipi, entrati, videro quei mucchi, benedissero il Signore e il popolo d'Israele.
9 Then Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps,	9 Ezechia domandò ai sacerdoti e ai leviti la ragione di quei mucchi;
10 and the priest Azariah, head of the house of Zadoc, answered him, "Since they began to bring the offerings to the house of the LORD, we have eaten to the full and have had much left over, for the LORD has blessed his people. This great supply is what was left over."	10 allora Azaria, della stirpe di Sadoc, primo sacerdote, rispose, dicendo: « Dacché cominciarono ad essere offerte le primizie nella casa del Signore, noi abbiamo mangiato a sazietà e ne è avanzato mol­tissimo, perchè il Signore ha benedetto il suo popolo; or quest'abbondanza che vedi, sono gli avanzi ».
11 Hezekiah then gave orders that chambers be constructed in the house of the LORD. When this had been done,	11 Allora Ezechia ordinò che fossero fatti dei granai nella casa del Signore. Fattili,
12 the offerings, tithes and consecrated things were deposited there in safekeeping. The overseer of these things was Conaniah the Levite, and his brother Shimei was second in charge.	12 vi portaron dentro con scrupolosità tutte le primizie, le decime e tutte le offerte di voto. Il levita Conenia ne fu il sopraintendente; dopo di lui veniva il suo fratello Semei,
13 Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath and Benaiah were supervisors subject to Conaniah and his brother Shimei by appointment of King Hezekiah and of Azariah, the prefect of the house of God.	13 e dopo venivano Iahiel, Azaria, Nahat, Asael, Ierimot, Iozabad, Eliel, Iesmachia, Mahat e Banaia, preposti sotto la dipendenza di Conenia e di Semei suo fratello per ordine del re Ezechia e di Azaria, pontefice della casa di Dio, ai quali apparteneva ogni cosa.
14 Kore, the son of Imnah, a Levite and the keeper of the eastern gate, was in charge of the free-will gifts made to God; he distributed the offerings made to the LORD and the most holy of the consecrated things.	14 Core, figlio di Iemna, levita e portinaio della porta orientale, era preposto alle cose offerte spontaneamente al Signore, alle primizie e alle cose consacrate pel Santo dei Santi.
15 Under him in the priestly cities were Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah and Shecaniah, who faithfully made the distribution to their brethren, great and small alike, according to their classes.	15 Sotto la sua direzione erano Eden, Beniamino, Iesue, Semeia, Amaria e Sechenia, nelle città sacerdotali, per distribuire scrupolosamente le parti ai loro fratelli minori e maggiori;
16 There was also a register by ancestral houses of males thirty years of age and over, for all priests who were eligible to enter the house of the LORD according to the daily rule to fulfill their service in the order of their classes.	16 eccettuati i maschi dai tre anni in su, e tutti quelli che entravano nel tempio del Signore, ai quali era dato ogni giorno il necessario per i diversi uffici e ministeri, secondo le loro divisioni;
17 The priests were inscribed in their family records according to their ancestral houses, and the Levites of twenty years and over according to their various offices and classes.	17 ai sacerdoti secondo le loro famiglie; ai leviti, da venti anni in su, secondo i loro ordini e le loro divisioni;
18 A distribution was also made to all who were inscribed in the family records, for their little ones, wives, sons and daughters--thus for the entire assembly, since they were to sanctify themselves by sharing faithfully in the consecrated things.	18 a tutta la moltitudine, tanto alle mogli quanto ai figli dell'uno e dell'altro sesso, era dato con fedeltà da mangiare di quello che era stato consacrato.
19 The sons of Aaron, the priests who lived on the lands attached to their cities, had in every city men designated by name to distribute portions to every male among the priests and to every Levite listed in the family records.	19 Tra i figli di Aronne v'erano anche degli uomini stabiliti nelle campagne e nei sobborghi di ciascuna città a distribuire le parti a tutti i maschi della stirpe dei sacerdoti e dei leviti.
20 This Hezekiah did in all Judah. He did what was good, upright and faithful before the LORD, his God.	20 Ezechia fece quanto abbiamo detto in tutto Giuda e fece quel che è buono, retto e vero davanti al Signore Dio suo,
21 Everything that he undertook, for the service of the house of God or for the law and the commandments, was to do the will of his God. He did this wholeheartedly, and he prospered.	21 in tutto quello che riguardava il servizio della casa del Signore, secondo la legge e le cerimonie, bramoso di cercare il suo Dio con tutto il suo cuore. Lo fece e prosperò.
