1 After all this was over, those Israelites who had been present went forth to the cities of Judah and smashed the sacred pillars, cut down the sacred poles, and tore down the high places and altars throughout Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim and Manasseh, until all were destroyed. Then the Israelites returned to their various cities, each to his own possession.	1 - Terminate tutte queste funzioni tutti gli Israeliti che si trovavano là, se ne andarono nelle città di Giuda e spezzarono i simulacri, tagliarono i boschetti sacri, demolirono i luoghi eccelsi e distrussero gli altari, non solo dei territori di Giuda e di Beniamino, ma anche di Efraim e di Manasse, fino a distruggerli completamente. Poi tutti i figli di Israele fecero ritorno ai loro possedimenti, alle loro città.
2 Hezekiah reestablished the classes of the priests and the Levites according to their former classification, assigning to each priest and Levite his proper service, whether in regard to holocausts or peace offerings, thanksgiving or praise, or ministering in the gates of the encampment of the LORD.	2 Ezechia poi costituì le classi dei sacerdoti e dei leviti, secondo le loro divisioni, assegnando a ciascuno tanto dei sacerdoti che dei leviti il proprio ufficio, sia per immolare gli olocausti e le ostie pacifiche, sia per il servizio e per lodare e cantare alla porta dell'accampamento del Signore.
3 From his own wealth the king allotted a portion for holocausts, those of morning and evening and those on sabbaths, new moons and festivals, as prescribed in the law of the LORD.	3 Spettava poi al re di fornire colle proprie sostanze il necessario onde far l'olocausto perenne, la mattina e la sera, nei sabati, nelle calende e nelle altre solennità; conforme a quanto è scritto nella legge di Mosè.
4 He also commanded the people living in Jerusalem to provide the support of the priests and Levites, that they might devote themselves entirely to the law of the LORD.	4 Comandò altresì agli abitanti di Gerusalemme di dare ai sacerdoti e ai leviti la loro porzione, perchè potessero attendere a quanto prescrive la legge del Signore.
5 As soon as the order was promulgated, the Israelites brought, in great quantities, the best of their grain, wine, oil and honey, and all the produce of the fields; they gave a generous tithe of everything.	5 Come questo ordine giunse alle orecchie della moltitudine, i figli di Israele offersero in gran quantità le primizie del vino, del frumento, dell'olio e anche del miele, e fecero offerta di tutte le decime di ciò che la terra produce.
6 Israelites and Judahites living in other cities of Judah also brought in tithes of oxen, sheep, and things that had been consecrated to the LORD, their God; these they brought in and set out in heaps.	6 Parimenti i figli d'Israele e di Giuda, disseminati nelle città di Giuda, offrirono decime di buoi, di pecore, e di tutte quelle cose sante che avevano consacrato per voto al Signore Dio loro, e portando tutte queste cose ne fecero molti mucchi.
7 It was in the third month that they began to establish these heaps, and they completed them in the seventh month.	7 Cominciarono a formare questi mucchi il terzo mese e finirono il mese settimo.
8 When Hezekiah and the princes had come and seen the heaps, they blessed the LORD and his people Israel.	8 Essendosi poi portati colà Ezechia e i principi suoi, al vedere quei mucchi benedissero il Signore e il popolo d'Israele;
9 Then Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps,	9 poi Ezechia interrogò i sacerdoti e i leviti perchè quei mucchi stessero là.
10 and the priest Azariah, head of the house of Zadoc, answered him, "Since they began to bring the offerings to the house of the LORD, we have eaten to the full and have had much left over, for the LORD has blessed his people. This great supply is what was left over."	10 Azaria primo sacerdote, della stirpe di Sadoc, gli rispose: «Dacchè si cominciò a offrir le primizie nella casa del Signore, noi mangiamo a sazietà e ne rimase una gran quantità, poichè il Signore ha benedetto il suo popolo. Questa che vedi è appunto la gran copia di ciò che è rimasto».
11 Hezekiah then gave orders that chambers be constructed in the house of the LORD. When this had been done,	11 Ezechia perciò comandò che si preparassero granai nella casa del Signore; e quando furono fatti,
12 the offerings, tithes and consecrated things were deposited there in safekeeping. The overseer of these things was Conaniah the Levite, and his brother Shimei was second in charge.	12 vi furono riposte fedelmente le primizie, le decime e tutto ciò che era stato offerto con voto; e vi fu preposto Conenia levita e al secondo posto Semei fratello di lui;
13 Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath and Benaiah were supervisors subject to Conaniah and his brother Shimei by appointment of King Hezekiah and of Azariah, the prefect of the house of God.	13 e Jaiel, Azaria, Naat, Asael, Jerimot, Jozabad, Eliel, Jesmachia, Maat e Banaia furono messi sotto la dipendenza di Conenia e del fratello di lui Semei, per ordine del re Ezechia e di Azaria pontefice della casa di Dio, ai quali spettavano tutte le cose.
14 Kore, the son of Imnah, a Levite and the keeper of the eastern gate, was in charge of the free-will gifts made to God; he distributed the offerings made to the LORD and the most holy of the consecrated things.	14 Invece Core, figlio di Jemna levita e portiere della porta orientale, ebbe la custodia di ciò che era spontaneamente offerto al Signore e delle primizie e delle oblazioni fatte al Santo dei Santi;
15 Under him in the priestly cities were Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah and Shecaniah, who faithfully made the distribution to their brethren, great and small alike, according to their classes.	15 mentre sotto di lui stavano Eden, Beniamino, Jesue, Semeia, Amaria e Sechenia, ai quali fu affidato nelle città sacerdotali la distribuzione da farsi ai propri fratelli piccoli o grandi che fossero;
16 There was also a register by ancestral houses of males thirty years of age and over, for all priests who were eligible to enter the house of the LORD according to the daily rule to fulfill their service in the order of their classes.	16 fatta eccezione dei maschi dai tre anni in su, a tutti quelli che entravano nel tempio del Signore e vi convenivano per compiere ogni giorno gli uffici sacerdotali e le cerimonie secondo il loro turno;
17 The priests were inscribed in their family records according to their ancestral houses, and the Levites of twenty years and over according to their various offices and classes.	17 ai sacerdoti secondo le loro famiglie e ai leviti dai vent'anni in su secondo le loro schiere e i loro turni;
18 A distribution was also made to all who were inscribed in the family records, for their little ones, wives, sons and daughters--thus for the entire assembly, since they were to sanctify themselves by sharing faithfully in the consecrated things.	18 a tutta la moltitudine, tanto alle mogli quanto ai figli loro, dell'uno e dell'altro sesso fedelmente veniva offerta una quantità di cibo di ciò che era stato santificato.
19 The sons of Aaron, the priests who lived on the lands attached to their cities, had in every city men designated by name to distribute portions to every male among the priests and to every Levite listed in the family records.	19 Eranvi poi tra i figli di Aronne, distribuiti per le campagne e nei sobborghi delle singole città, uomini i quali distribuivano le porzioni dovute a tutti i maschi della stirpe sacerdotale e levitica.
20 This Hezekiah did in all Judah. He did what was good, upright and faithful before the LORD, his God.	20 Ezechia adunque fece tutto ciò che è stato detto in tutto il territorio di Giuda, e fece ciò che è buono, retto e giusto al cospetto del Signor Dio suo
21 Everything that he undertook, for the service of the house of God or for the law and the commandments, was to do the will of his God. He did this wholeheartedly, and he prospered.	21 in tutto quello che esigeva il ministero della casa del Signore, secondo la legge e le cerimonie, volendo così cercare il suo Dio con tutto il cuore; e ciò facendo, prosperò.
