1 Then the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, his youngest son, king in his stead, since all the older sons had been slain by the band that had come into the fort with the Arabs. Thus Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, reigned as the king of Judah.	1 Los habitantes de Jerusalén proclamaron rey den lugar de Joram a Ocozías, su hijo menor, porque la banda que invadió el campamento con los árabes había asesinado a todos los hijos mayores. Así reinó Ocozías, hijo de Joram, rey de Judá.
2 He was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother was named Athaliah, daughter of Omri.	2 Ocozías tenía cuarenta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó un solo año en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Atalía, y era hija de Omrí.
3 He, too, followed the ways of the house of Ahab, because his mother counseled him to act sinfully.	3 El también siguió los caminos de la casa de Ajab, porque su madre lo instigaba a cometer el mal.
4 To his own destruction, he did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab, since they were his counselors after the death of his father.	4 Hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor, como los de la familia de Ajab, porque después de la muerte de su padre, ellos fueron sus consejeros para ruina de él.
5 He was also following their counsel when he accompanied Jehoram, son of Ahab, king of Israel, to battle against Hazael, king of Aram, at Ramoth-gilead. There Jehoram was wounded by the Arameans.	5 Por consejo de ellos, fue con Joram, hijo de Ajab, rey de Israel, a combatir contra Jazael, rey de Aram, en Ramot de Galaad. Los arameos hirieron a Joram,
6 He returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds he had received at Rama in his battle against Hazael, king of Aram. Because of this illness, Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to visit Jehoram, son of Ahab, in Jezreel.	6 y este volvió a Izreel para hacerse curar de las heridas que le habían infligido en Ramot, en la batalla contra Jazael, rey de Aram. Ocozías, hijo de Joram, rey de Judá, bajó a Izreel para visitar a Joram, hijo de Ajab, que se encontraba enfermo.
7 Now it was willed by God for Ahaziah's downfall that he should join Jehoram, for after his arrival he rode out with Jehoram to Jehu, son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to cut down the house of Ahab.	7 Esta visita a Joram estaba dispuesta por Dios para ruina de Ocozías. Porque cuando llegó, salió con Joram a luchar contra Jehú, hijo de Nimsí, a quien el Señor había ungido para extirpar la casa de Ajab.
8 While Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he also encountered the princes of Judah and the nephews of Ahaziah who were his attendants, and he slew them.	8 Mientras Jehú hacía justicia con la familia de Ajab, se encontró con los jefes de Judá y con los hijos de los hermanos de Ocozías, que estaban a su servicio, y los mató.
9 Then he looked for Ahaziah himself. They caught him where he was hiding in Samaria and brought him to Jehu, who put him to death. They buried him, for they said, "He was the grandson of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with his whole heart." There remained in Ahaziah's house no one powerful enough to wield the kingship.	9 Después buscó a Ocozías, y lo capturaron en Samaría, donde se había ocultado. Luego lo llevaron a la presencia de Jehú y lo mataron. Pero le dieron sepultura, porque decían: «Es el hijo de Josafat, el que buscó al Señor de todo corazón». En la familia de Ocozías no quedó nadie capaz de reinar.
10 When Athaliah, mother of Ahaziah, learned that her son was dead, she proceeded to kill off all the royal offspring of the house of Judah.	10 Atalía, la madre de Ocozías, al ver que había muerto su hijo, comenzó a exterminar todo el linaje real de la tribu de Judá.
11 But Jehosheba, a royal princess, secretly took Ahaziah's son Joash from among the king's sons who were about to be slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedroom. In this way Jehosheba, who was the daughter of King Jehoram, a sister of Ahaziah, and wife of Jehoiada the priest, hid the child from Athaliah's sight, so that she did not put him to death.	11 Pero Josebá, hija del rey, tomó a Joás, hijo de Ocozías, lo sacó de en medio de los hijos del rey que iban a ser masacrados, y lo puso con su nodriza en la sala que servía de dormitorio. Josebá, hija del rey Joram, esposa del sacerdote Iehoiadá y hermana de Ocozías, lo ocultó a los ojos de Atalía y no lo mataron.
12 For six years he remained hidden with them in the house of God, while Athaliah ruled over the land.	12 Así estuvo con ellos seis años en la Casa de Dios, mientras Atalía reinaba sobre el país.
