1 Then the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, his youngest son, king in his stead, since all the older sons had been slain by the band that had come into the fort with the Arabs. Thus Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, reigned as the king of Judah.	1 Les habitants de Jérusalem firent roi à sa place Ochozias, son plus jeune fils, car la troupequi, avec les Arabes, avait fait incursion dans le camp, avait assassiné les aînés. Ainsi Ochozias, fils de Joram,devint roi de Juda.
2 He was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother was named Athaliah, daughter of Omri.	2 Il avait 42 ans à son avènement et il régna un an à Jérusalem. Le nom de sa mère étaitAthalie, fille de Omri.
3 He, too, followed the ways of the house of Ahab, because his mother counseled him to act sinfully.	3 Lui aussi imita la conduite de la maison d'Achab, car sa mère lui donnait de mauvaisconseils.
4 To his own destruction, he did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab, since they were his counselors after the death of his father.	4 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé, comme la famille d'Achab, car ce sont ces gens qui, pour saperte, devinrent ses conseillers après la mort de son père.
5 He was also following their counsel when he accompanied Jehoram, son of Ahab, king of Israel, to battle against Hazael, king of Aram, at Ramoth-gilead. There Jehoram was wounded by the Arameans.	5 Il suivit en outre leur politique et alla avec Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Israël, pour combattreHazaël, roi d'Aram, à Ramot de Galaad. Mais les Araméens blessèrent Joram;
6 He returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds he had received at Rama in his battle against Hazael, king of Aram. Because of this illness, Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to visit Jehoram, son of Ahab, in Jezreel.	6 il revint à Yizréel pour faire soigner les blessures reçues à Ramot en combattant Hazaël, roid'Aram. Ochozias, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, descendit à Yizréel, pour visiter Joram, fils d'Achab, parce qu'ilétait souffrant.
7 Now it was willed by God for Ahaziah's downfall that he should join Jehoram, for after his arrival he rode out with Jehoram to Jehu, son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to cut down the house of Ahab.	7 Dieu fit de cette visite à Joram la perte d'Ochozias. A son arrivée, il sortit avec Joram à larencontre de Jéhu, fils de Nimshi, oint par Yahvé pour en finir avec la maison d'Achab.
8 While Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he also encountered the princes of Judah and the nephews of Ahaziah who were his attendants, and he slew them.	8 Alors qu'il s'employait à faire justice de la maison d'Achab, Jéhu rencontra les officiers deJuda et les neveux d'Ochozias, ses serviteurs; il les tua,
9 Then he looked for Ahaziah himself. They caught him where he was hiding in Samaria and brought him to Jehu, who put him to death. They buried him, for they said, "He was the grandson of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with his whole heart." There remained in Ahaziah's house no one powerful enough to wield the kingship.	9 puis se mit à la recherche d'Ochozias. On se saisit de lui tandis qu'il essayait de se cacherdans Samarie et on l'amena à Jéhu, qui l'exécuta. Mais on l'ensevelit parce qu'on disait: "C'est le fils de Josaphatqui recherchait Yahvé de tout son coeur." Il n'y avait personne dans la maison d'Ochozias qui fût en mesure derégner.
10 When Athaliah, mother of Ahaziah, learned that her son was dead, she proceeded to kill off all the royal offspring of the house of Judah.	10 Lorsque la mère d'Ochozias, Athalie, eut appris que son fils était mort, elle entrepritd'exterminer toute la descendance royale de la maison de Juda.
11 But Jehosheba, a royal princess, secretly took Ahaziah's son Joash from among the king's sons who were about to be slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedroom. In this way Jehosheba, who was the daughter of King Jehoram, a sister of Ahaziah, and wife of Jehoiada the priest, hid the child from Athaliah's sight, so that she did not put him to death.	11 Mais Yehoshéba, fille du roi, retira furtivement Joas, fils d'Ochozias, du groupe des fils duroi qu'on massacrait et elle le mit, avec sa nourrice, dans la chambre des lits. Ainsi Yehoshéba, fille du roi Joramet femme du prêtre Yehoyada (et elle était soeur d'Ochozias), put le soustraire à Athalie et éviter qu'elle ne letuât.
12 For six years he remained hidden with them in the house of God, while Athaliah ruled over the land.	12 Il resta six ans avec eux, caché dans le Temple de Dieu, pendant qu'Athalie régnait sur lepays.
