1 Elisha once said to the woman whose son he had restored to life: "Get ready! Leave with your family and settle wherever you can, because the LORD has decreed a seven-year famine which is coming upon the land."	1 - Eliseo disse alla donna di cui aveva risuscitato il figlio: «Levati e va' tu e la tua famiglia e dimora ovunque troverai, poichè il Signore ha chiamata la fame che per sette anni desolerà il paese».
2 The woman got ready and did as the man of God said, setting out with her family and settling in the land of the Philistines for seven years.	2 La donna si levò, e fece secondo la parola dell'uomo di Dio, andandosene con la sua famiglia ad abitare per molti anni nel paese dei Filistei.
3 At the end of the seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines and went out to the king to claim her house and her field.	3 Passati sette anni, la donna ritornò dal paese dei Filistei e andò a interpellare il re per riavere la sua casa e il suo campo.
4 The king was talking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. "Tell me," he said, "all the great things that Elisha has done."	4 Il re stava parlando con Giezi, servo dell'uomo di Dio, e gli diceva: «Narrami tutte le cose grandi che Eliseo ha fatto».
5 Just as he was relating to the king how his master had restored a dead person to life, the very woman whose son Elisha had restored to life came to the king to claim her house and field. "My lord king," Gehazi said, "this is the woman, and this is that son of hers whom Elisha restored to life."	5 E mentre egli raccontava al re come Eliseo avesse risuscitato un morto, si presentò la donna, di cui era stato risuscitato il figlio, la quale ricorreva al re per la sua casa e i suoi poderi. Giezi disse: «O re, mio signore, costei è la donna e questi è il suo figliuolo, che Eliseo ha risuscitato».
6 The king questioned the woman, and she told him her story. With that the king placed an official at her disposal, saying, "Restore all her property to her, with all that the field produced from the day she left the land until now."	6 Il re interrogò la donna, la quale gli narrò l'accaduto; il re allora le diede un eunuco, a cui disse: «Restituisci a costei tutto ciò che le appartiene e tutti i redditi de' suoi poderi, dal giorno che abbandonò il paese fino al presente».
7 Elisha came to Damascus at a time when Ben-hadad, king of Aram, lay sick. When he was told that the man of God had come there,	7 Eliseo si portò anche a Damasco, mentre Benadad, re di Siria, era ammalato. A questi fu annunziato: «L'uomo di Dio è venuto qui».
8 the king said to Hazael, "Take a gift with you and go call on the man of God. Have him consult the LORD as to whether I shall recover from this sickness."	8 Il re disse ad Azael: «Prenditi regali e va' incontro all'uomo di Dio e per suo mezzo consulta il Signore, domandandogli: - Potrò io guarire da questa mia infermità? -».
9 Hazael went to visit him, carrying a present, and with forty camel loads of the best goods of Damascus. On his arrival, he stood before the prophet and said, "Your son Ben-hadad, king of Aram, has sent me to ask you whether he will recover from his sickness."	9 Andò dunque Azael incontro ad Eliseo, portando in regalo quanto di meglio vi era in Damasco: un carico di quaranta cammelli. Quando si fu presentato a lui, gli disse: «Il figliuolo tuo Benadad, re di Siria, mi ha mandato a te per chiederti: - Potrò io guarire da questa mia infermità? -».
10 "Go and tell him," Elisha answered, "that he will surely recover. However, the LORD has showed me that he will in fact die."	10 Eliseo gli rispose: «Va' a dirgli: - Tu guarirai. - Tuttavia il Signore mi ha rivelato che morrà certamente».
11 Then he stared him down until Hazael became ill at ease. The man of God wept,	11 Poi si fermò con lui e si turbò fino a diventar rosso nel volto. L'uomo di Dio pianse;
12 and Hazael asked, "Why are you weeping, my lord?" Elisha replied, "Because I know the evil that you will inflict upon the Israelites. You will burn their fortresses, you will slay their youth with the sword, you will dash their little children to pieces, you will rip open their pregnant women."	12 e Azael gli chiese: «Perchè il mio signore piange?», ed egli rispose: «Perchè so il male che tu farai ai figli d'Israele; brucerai le loro città fortificate, ucciderai colla spada i loro giovani, schiaccerai i loro bambini, e sventrerai le pregnanti».
13 Hazael exclaimed, "How can a dog like me, your servant, do anything so important?" "The LORD has showed you to me as king over Aram," replied Elisha.	13 Disse Azael: «Che cosa sono io tuo servo, simile a un cane, per fare cose così grandi?». Eliseo rispose: «Il Signore mi rivela che tu sarai re della Siria».
14 Hazael left Elisha and returned to his master. "What did Elisha tell you?" asked Ben-hadad. "He told me that you would surely recover," replied Hazael.	14 Essendosi egli allontanato da Eliseo, ritornò al suo padrone, che gli chiese: «Cosa ti ha detto Eliseo?». Egli rispose: «Mi disse che tu recupererai la salute».
15 The next day, however, Hazael took a cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it over the king's face, so that he died. And Hazael reigned in his stead.	15 Venuto poi il giorno seguente prese una coperta, la inzuppò d'acqua e la stese sulla faccia del re. Morto Benadad, Azael regnò in sua vece.
16 In the fifth year of Joram, son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram, son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, became king.	16 Nell'anno quinto di Joram figlio di Acab, re d'Israele, e di Josafat, re di Giuda, Joram figlio di Josafat, re di Giuda, regnò.
17 He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.	17 Aveva trentadue anni quando incominciò a regnare e regnò in Gerusalemme otto anni.
18 He conducted himself like the kings of Israel of the line of Ahab, since the sister of Ahab was his wife; and he did evil in the LORD'S sight.	18 Camminò nelle vie dei re di Israele come aveva camminato la casa di Acab. Aveva in moglie la figlia di Acab e fece il male al cospetto del Signore.
19 Even so, the LORD was unwilling to destroy Judah, because of his servant David. For he had promised David that he would leave him a lamp in the LORD'S presence for all time.	19 Il Signore però non volle distruggere Giuda per amor di Davide suo servo, secondo la promessa fattagli di dare sempre una lucerna a lui e ai suoi figli.
20 During Jehoram's reign, Edom revolted against the sovereignty of Judah and chose a king of its own.	20 In quei giorni Edom si ribellò per non restare sotto Giuda e si elesse un re.
21 Thereupon Jehoram with all his chariots crossed over to Zair. He arose by night and broke through the Edomites when they had surrounded him and the commanders of his chariots. Then his army fled homeward.	21 Joram venne a Seira con tutti i suoi carri e, levatosi di notte, battè gli Idumei che lo avevano circondato e i comandanti dei carri, e il popolo fuggì nelle sue tende.
22 To this day Edom has been in revolt against the rule of Judah. Libnah also revolted at that time.	22 Edom adunque si ribellò per non essere sotto Giuda fino a questi giorni. Anche Lobna si sottrasse in quel tempo.
23 The rest of the acts of Jehoram, with all that he did, are recorded in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.	23 Il resto delle azioni di Joram e tutto quello che egli fece, non è stato forse scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda?
24 Jehoram rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. His son Ahaziah succeeded him as king.	24 Joram dormì co' suoi padri e fu con essi sepolto nella città di Davide e Ocozia, figlio di lui, regnò in sua vece.
25 Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, became king in the twelfth year of Joram, son of Ahab, king of Israel.	25 Ocozia figlio di Joram, re di Giuda, cominciò a regnare l'anno decimosecondo di Joram figlio di Acab, re d'Israele.
26 He was twenty-two years old when he began his reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah; she was daughter of Omri, king of Israel.	26 Aveva ventidue anni quando salì al trono e regnò in Gerusalemme un anno. Il nome della madre sua fu Atalia, figlia di Amri, re d'Israele.
27 He conducted himself like the house of Ahab, doing evil in the LORD'S sight as they did, since he was related to them by marriage.	27 Camminò nelle vie della casa di Acab, e fece il male al cospetto del Signore, come la casa di Acab, poichè egli era imparentato con questa casa.
28 He joined Joram, son of Ahab, in battle against Hazael, king of Aram, at Ramoth-gilead, where the Arameans wounded Joram.	28 Andò con Joram figlio di Acab a combattere contro Azael, re di Siria, in Ramot di Galaad. E i Siri ferirono Joram.
29 King Joram returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds which the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramah in his battle against Hazael, king of Aram. Then Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visit him there in his illness.	29 Il re ritornò a Jezrael per farsi curare dalle ferite ricevute dai Siri in Ramot, mentre combatteva contro Azael, re della Siria. Ora Ocozia figliuolo di Joram, re di Giuda, venne a trovare Joram figlio di Acab in Jezrael, dove era ammalato.
