1 Elisha once said to the woman whose son he had restored to life: "Get ready! Leave with your family and settle wherever you can, because the LORD has decreed a seven-year famine which is coming upon the land."	1 Eliseo dijo a la madre del niño que él había hecho revivir: «Parte ahora mismo con toda tu familia, y emigra adonde puedas, porque el Señor ha llamado al hambre, y ya viene al país por siete años».
2 The woman got ready and did as the man of God said, setting out with her family and settling in the land of the Philistines for seven years.	2 La mujer partió e hizo lo que le había dicho el hombre de Dios: emigró con su familia al país de los filisteos y se quedó allí siete años.
3 At the end of the seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines and went out to the king to claim her house and her field.	3 Al cabo de siete años, la mujer volvió del país de los filisteos y fue a reclamar al rey su casa y su campo.
4 The king was talking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. "Tell me," he said, "all the great things that Elisha has done."	4 El rey estaba hablando con Guejazí, el servidor del hombre de Dios: «Cuéntame, le decía, las maravillas que ha hecho Eliseo».
5 Just as he was relating to the king how his master had restored a dead person to life, the very woman whose son Elisha had restored to life came to the king to claim her house and field. "My lord king," Gehazi said, "this is the woman, and this is that son of hers whom Elisha restored to life."	5 Y mientras le estaba contando al rey cómo Eliseo había hecho revivir a un muerto, la madre del niño que él había hecho revivir vino a reclamar al rey su casa y su campo. Guejazí dijo entonces: «¡Rey, señor mío, esta es la mujer y aquí está el hijo que Eliseo hizo revivir!».
6 The king questioned the woman, and she told him her story. With that the king placed an official at her disposal, saying, "Restore all her property to her, with all that the field produced from the day she left the land until now."	6 El rey interrogó a la mujer, y ella le contó todo. Luego puso a su disposición un eunuco, al que ordenó: «Que se le restituya todo lo que le pertenece, con todas las rentas del campo, desde el día en que dejó el país hasta ahora».
7 Elisha came to Damascus at a time when Ben-hadad, king of Aram, lay sick. When he was told that the man of God had come there,	7 Eliseo se dirigió a Damasco. Ben Hadad, rey de Aram, estaba enfermo. Cuando le avisaron: «El hombre de Dios ha venido hasta aquí»,
8 the king said to Hazael, "Take a gift with you and go call on the man of God. Have him consult the LORD as to whether I shall recover from this sickness."	8 el rey dijo a Jazael: «Toma contigo un presente, ve al encuentro del hombre de Dios, y consulta al Señor por medio de él, a ver si me restableceré de esta enfermedad».
9 Hazael went to visit him, carrying a present, and with forty camel loads of the best goods of Damascus. On his arrival, he stood before the prophet and said, "Your son Ben-hadad, king of Aram, has sent me to ask you whether he will recover from his sickness."	9 Jazael fue al encuentro de Eliseo llevando como presente cuarenta camellos cargados con lo mejor que había en Damasco. Al llegar, se presentó ante él y le dijo: «Tu hijo Ben Hadad, rey de Aram, me ha enviado a preguntarte: ¿Me restableceré de esta enfermedad?».
10 "Go and tell him," Elisha answered, "that he will surely recover. However, the LORD has showed me that he will in fact die."	10 Eliseo respondió: «Ve a decirle: «Sí, te restablecerás»; pero el Señor me ha hecho ver que morirá».
11 Then he stared him down until Hazael became ill at ease. The man of God wept,	11 Después fijó la mirada y permaneció así largo rato. Y el hombre de Dios lloró.
12 and Hazael asked, "Why are you weeping, my lord?" Elisha replied, "Because I know the evil that you will inflict upon the Israelites. You will burn their fortresses, you will slay their youth with the sword, you will dash their little children to pieces, you will rip open their pregnant women."	12 Jazael le preguntó: «¿Por qué llora mi señor?». «Porque sé el mal que harás a los israelitas, respondió Eliseo; tú incendiarás sus plazas fuertes, matarás a sus jóvenes con la espada, estrellarás a sus niños y abrirás el vientre de sus mujeres embarazadas».
13 Hazael exclaimed, "How can a dog like me, your servant, do anything so important?" "The LORD has showed you to me as king over Aram," replied Elisha.	13 Jazael replicó: «Tu servidor no es más que un perro. ¿Cómo va a hacer tales hazañas?». Eliseo respondió: «El Señor me ha hecho ver que tú reinarás sobre Aram».
14 Hazael left Elisha and returned to his master. "What did Elisha tell you?" asked Ben-hadad. "He told me that you would surely recover," replied Hazael.	14 El se alejó de Eliseo y fue a ver a su señor, el cual le dijo: «¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo?». El respondió: «Me ha dicho que te restablecerás».
15 The next day, however, Hazael took a cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it over the king's face, so that he died. And Hazael reigned in his stead.	15 Pero a la mañana siguiente tomó una manta, la empapó en agua y la extendió sobre el rostro del rey, hasta que murió. Jazael reinó en lugar de él.
16 In the fifth year of Joram, son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram, son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, became king.	16 El quinto año de Joram, hijo de Ajab, rey de Israel, inició su reinado Joram, hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá.
17 He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.	17 Tenía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.
18 He conducted himself like the kings of Israel of the line of Ahab, since the sister of Ahab was his wife; and he did evil in the LORD'S sight.	18 Siguió el camino de los reyes de Israel, conforme a lo que había hecho la casa de Ajab, porque se había casado con una hija de Ajab; e hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor.
19 Even so, the LORD was unwilling to destroy Judah, because of his servant David. For he had promised David that he would leave him a lamp in the LORD'S presence for all time.	19 Pero el Señor no quiso destruir a Judá, a causa de su servidor David, según la promesa que le había hecho de darles a él y a sus hijos una lámpara para siempre.
20 During Jehoram's reign, Edom revolted against the sovereignty of Judah and chose a king of its own.	20 En ese tiempo, Edom se rebeló contra el poder de Judá y se estableció un rey.
21 Thereupon Jehoram with all his chariots crossed over to Zair. He arose by night and broke through the Edomites when they had surrounded him and the commanders of his chariots. Then his army fled homeward.	21 Joram partió entonces para Saír con todos sus carros de guerra. 24 Jehoram rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. His son Ahaziah succeeded him as king.	24 Joram se fue a descansar con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la Ciudad de David. Su hijo Ocozías reinó en lugar de él.
25 Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, became king in the twelfth year of Joram, son of Ahab, king of Israel.	25 El duodécimo año de Joram, hijo de Ajab, rey de Israel, inició su reinado Ocozías, hijo de Joram, rey de Judá.
26 He was twenty-two years old when he began his reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah; she was daughter of Omri, king of Israel.	26 Ocozías tenía veintidós años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó un año en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Atalía, y era hija de Omrí, rey de Israel.
27 He conducted himself like the house of Ahab, doing evil in the LORD'S sight as they did, since he was related to them by marriage.	27 Siguió el camino de la casa de Ajab e hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor, como la casa de Ajab, porque estaba emparentado con ella.
28 He joined Joram, son of Ahab, in battle against Hazael, king of Aram, at Ramoth-gilead, where the Arameans wounded Joram.	28 El fue con Joram, hijo de Ajab, a combatir contra Jazael, rey de Aram, a Ramot de Galaad; pero los arameos hirieron a Joram.
29 King Joram returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds which the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramah in his battle against Hazael, king of Aram. Then Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visit him there in his illness.	29 El rey Joram volvió a Izreel, para hacerse curar de las heridas que le habían infligido los arameos en Ramá, cuando combatía contra Jazael, rey de Aram.
