1 Elisha once said to the woman whose son he had restored to life: "Get ready! Leave with your family and settle wherever you can, because the LORD has decreed a seven-year famine which is coming upon the land."	1 Eliseo dijo a la mujer cuyo hijo había resucitado: «Levántate y vete, tú y tu casa, a residir donde puedas, porque Yahveh ha llamado al hambre y viene ya hacia la tierra por siete años».
2 The woman got ready and did as the man of God said, setting out with her family and settling in the land of the Philistines for seven years.	2 Se levantó la mujer e hizo según la palabra del hombre de Dios; se fue ella y su familia a vivir en tierra de filisteos siete años.
3 At the end of the seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines and went out to the king to claim her house and her field.	3 Al cabo de los siete años volvió la mujer del país de los filisteos y fue a apelar al rey por su casa y por su campo.
4 The king was talking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. "Tell me," he said, "all the great things that Elisha has done."	4 Estaba el rey hablando con Guejazí, criado del hombre de Dios, y le decía: «Cuéntame todas las grandes cosas que hizo Eliseo».
5 Just as he was relating to the king how his master had restored a dead person to life, the very woman whose son Elisha had restored to life came to the king to claim her house and field. "My lord king," Gehazi said, "this is the woman, and this is that son of hers whom Elisha restored to life."	5 Estaba él contando al rey cómo había resucitado al muerto, cuando llegó la mujer, cuyo hijo había resucitado, para apelar al rey por su casa y su campo y dijo Guejazí: «¡Oh mi señor! Esta es la mujer y éste su hijo, al que resucitó Eliseo».
6 The king questioned the woman, and she told him her story. With that the king placed an official at her disposal, saying, "Restore all her property to her, with all that the field produced from the day she left the land until now."	6 Preguntó el rey a la mujer y ella se lo relató; el rey puso un eunuco a disposición de la mujer diciendo: «Que se le devuelva todo lo suyo, con todos los productos del campo, desde el día en que ella abandonó la tierra hasta ahora».
7 Elisha came to Damascus at a time when Ben-hadad, king of Aram, lay sick. When he was told that the man of God had come there,	7 Eliseo fue a Damasco. Ben Hadad, rey de Aram, estaba enfermo y le avisaron: «El hombre de Dios ha venido aquí».
8 the king said to Hazael, "Take a gift with you and go call on the man of God. Have him consult the LORD as to whether I shall recover from this sickness."	8 Dijo el rey a Jazael: «Toma en tu mano un presente y vete al encuentro del hombre de Dios y consulta a Yahveh por su medio diciendo: ¿Sobreviviré a esta enfermedad?»
9 Hazael went to visit him, carrying a present, and with forty camel loads of the best goods of Damascus. On his arrival, he stood before the prophet and said, "Your son Ben-hadad, king of Aram, has sent me to ask you whether he will recover from his sickness."	9 Fue Jazael a su encuentro llevando en su mano un presente de todo lo mejor de Damasco, la carga de cuarenta camellos; entró, se detuvo ante él y dijo: «Tu hijo Ben Hadad, rey de Aram, me ha enviado a ti para preguntarte: ¿Sobreviviré a esta enfermedad?»
10 "Go and tell him," Elisha answered, "that he will surely recover. However, the LORD has showed me that he will in fact die."	10 Eliseo le dijo: «Vete y dile: “Puedes vivir”; pero Yahveh me ha hecho ver que de cierto morirá».
11 Then he stared him down until Hazael became ill at ease. The man of God wept,	11 Y se inmovilizaron sus facciones quedándose rígido en extremo, y rompió a llorar el varón de Dios.
12 and Hazael asked, "Why are you weeping, my lord?" Elisha replied, "Because I know the evil that you will inflict upon the Israelites. You will burn their fortresses, you will slay their youth with the sword, you will dash their little children to pieces, you will rip open their pregnant women."	12 Dijo Jazael: «¿Por qué llora mi señor?» Le respondió: «Porque sé el mal que vas a hacer a los israelitas: pasarás a fuego sus fortalezas, matarás a espada a sus mejores, aplastarás a sus pequeñuelos y abrirás el vientre a sus embarazadas».
13 Hazael exclaimed, "How can a dog like me, your servant, do anything so important?" "The LORD has showed you to me as king over Aram," replied Elisha.	13 Dijo Jazael: «Pues, ¿qué es tu siervo? ¿Como un perro hará cosa tan enorme?» Respondió Eliseo: «Yahveh ha hecho que te vea como rey de Aram».
14 Hazael left Elisha and returned to his master. "What did Elisha tell you?" asked Ben-hadad. "He told me that you would surely recover," replied Hazael.	14 Partió de junto a Eliseo y llegó donde su señor. Le preguntó: «¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo?» Respondió: «Me ha dicho que puedes vivir».
15 The next day, however, Hazael took a cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it over the king's face, so that he died. And Hazael reigned in his stead.	15 A la mañana siguiente tomó una manta, la empapó en agua y la extendió sobre su rostro y murió. Reinó en su lugar Jazael.
16 In the fifth year of Joram, son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram, son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, became king.	16 El año quinto de Joram, hijo de Ajab, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Joram, hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá.
17 He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.	17 Tenía 32 años cuando comenzó a reinar y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.

19 Even so, the LORD was unwilling to destroy Judah, because of his servant David. 21 Thereupon Jehoram with all his chariots crossed over to Zair. He arose by night and broke through the Edomites when they had surrounded him and the commanders of his chariots. 26 He was twenty-two years old when he began his reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. 29 King Joram returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds which the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramah in his battle against Hazael, king of Aram.
