1 After this David attacked the Philistines and conquered them, wresting. . . from the Philistines.	1 Dopo queste cose Davide sconfisse i Filistei e li umiliò, prendendo di mano ai Filistei Gat e le sue dipendenze.
2 He also defeated Moab and then measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground. He told off two lengths of line for execution, and a full length to be spared. Thus the Moabites became tributary to David.	2 Sconfisse pure i Moabiti, li misurò con la fune facendoli giacere a terra: ne misurò due funi da uccidere e un'altra fune completa da lasciare in vita. Così Moab diventò servo di Davide e pagò il tributo.
3 Next David defeated Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah, when he went to reestablish his dominion at the Euphrates River.	3 Poi Davide sconfisse Adad-E'zer, figlio di Recòb, re di Zobà, quando andava a ristabilire il suo potere sul Fiume.
4 David captured from him one thousand seven hundred horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers. And he hamstrung all the chariot horses, preserving only enough for a hundred chariots.	4 Davide gli catturò mille e settecento cavalieri e ventimila fanti, tagliò i garretti a tutti i cavalli lasciandone solo cento capi.
5 When the Arameans of Damascus came to the aid of Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David slew twenty-two thousand of them.	5 Allora Aram di Damasco corse in aiuto di Adad-E'zer, re di Zobà, ma Davide uccise ventiduemila uomini di Aram.
6 David then placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became subjects, tributary to David. The LORD brought David victory in all his undertakings.	6 Davide pose prefetti in Aram di Damasco e Aram diventò servo di Davide e pagò il tributo. Così il Signore diede a Davide la vittoria dovunque andò.
7 David also took away the golden shields used by Hadadezer's servants and brought them to Jerusalem. (These Shishak, king of Egypt, took away when he came to Jerusalem in the days of Rehoboam, son of Solomon.)	7 Davide prese gli scudi d'oro che appartenevano ai servi di Adad-E'zer e li portò a Gerusalemme.
8 From Tebah and Berothai, towns of Hadadezer, King David removed a very large quantity of bronze.	8 Inoltre da Bètach e da Berotài, città di Adad-E'zer, il re Davide portò via moltissimo bronzo.
9 When Toi, king of Hamath, heard that David had defeated all the forces of Hadadezer,	9 Quando Toù, re di Camat, udì che Davide aveva sconfitto tutte le forze di Adad-E'zer,
10 he sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and to congratulate him for his victory over Hadadezer in battle, because Toi had been in many battles with Hadadezer. 11 These, too, King David consecrated to the LORD, together with the silver and gold he had taken from every nation he had conquered:	11 Il re Davide consacrò anche questi al Signore, insieme con tutto l'argento e l'oro che aveva consacrato, proveniente da tutti i popoli che aveva soggiogato:
12 from Edom and Moab, from the Ammonites, from the Philistines, from the Amalekites, and from the plunder of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.	12 da Aram, da Moab, dagli Ammoniti, dai Filistei, da Amalek e dal bottino di Adad-E'zer, figlio di Recòb, re di Zobà.
13 On his return, David became famous for having slain eighteen thousand Edomites in the Salt Valley;	13 Davide si fece un nome al suo ritorno sconfiggendo diciottomila Idumei nella Valle del Sale.
14 after which he placed garrisons in Edom. Thus all the Edomites became David's subjects, and the LORD brought David victory in all his undertakings.	14 Pose prefetti in Edom: in tutta la regione pose dei prefetti; e l'intero Edom diventò servo di Davide. Così il Signore diede a Davide la vittoria dovunque andò.
15 David reigned over all Israel, judging and administering justice to all his people.	15 Davide fu re su tutto Israele e amministrò rettamente la giustizia a tutto il suo popolo.
16 Joab, son of Zeruiah, was in command of the army. Jehoshaphat, son of Ahilud, was chancellor.	16 Ioab, figlio di Zeruià, era capo dell'esercito; Giosafat, figlio di Achilùd, segretario;
17 Zadok, son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech, son of Abiathar, were priests. Shawsha was scribe.	17 Zadòk, figlio di Achitùb, ed Ebiatàr, figlio di Achimelech, erano sacerdoti; Seraià scriba;
18 Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, was in command of the Cherethites and Pelethites. And David's sons were priests.	18 Benaià, figlio di Ioiadà, capo dei Cretei e dei Peletei; e i figli di Davide erano ministri.
