1 After this David attacked the Philistines and conquered them, wresting. . . from the Philistines.	1 Dopo di ciò Davidde sconfisse i Filistei e gli umiliò, e tolse di mano a' Filistei il freno del tributo.
2 He also defeated Moab and then measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground. He told off two lengths of line for execution, and a full length to be spared. Thus the Moabites became tributary to David.	2 E sconfisse i Moabiti, e distesi per terra li misurò colla corda: e di due corde di misura l’una menava alla morte, l’altra alla vita. E i Moabiti divennero servi, e tributarii di Davidde.
3 Next David defeated Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah, when he went to reestablish his dominion at the Euphrates River.	3 Parimente Davidde sconfisse Adarezer figliuolo di Rohob, re di Soba, allorché si mosse per conquistare il paese fino al fiume Eufrate.
4 David captured from him one thousand seven hundred horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers. And he hamstrung all the chariot horses, preserving only enough for a hundred chariots.	4 E David fece prigionieri mille settecento de' suoi cavalieri, e venti mila pedoni, e tagliò i garetti a tutti i cavalli de' cocchi, e di quei cocchi ne riserbò cento.
5 When the Arameans of Damascus came to the aid of Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David slew twenty-two thousand of them.	5 E i Siri di Damasco si mossero per dare ajuto ad Adarezer re di Soba: e David uccise ventidue mila Siri.
6 David then placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became subjects, tributary to David. The LORD brought David victory in all his undertakings.	6 E pose David presidio nella Siria di Damasco: e la Siria fu serva, e tributaria di David: e il Signore conservò David in tutti i luoghi dove andò.
7 David also took away the golden shields used by Hadadezer's servants and brought them to Jerusalem. (These Shishak, king of Egypt, took away when he came to Jerusalem in the days of Rehoboam, son of Solomon.)	7 E prese David le armi d'oro che avevano i cortigiani di Adarezer, e portolle a Gerusalemme.
8 From Tebah and Berothai, towns of Hadadezer, King David removed a very large quantity of bronze.	8 E quantità grandissima di rame portò via David da Bete, e da Beroth, città di Adarezer.
9 When Toi, king of Hamath, heard that David had defeated all the forces of Hadadezer,	9 Ma Thou re di Emath avendo udito, come David avea disfatto tutto il nerbo delle forze di Adarezer,
10 he sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and to congratulate him for his victory over Hadadezer in battle, because Toi had been in many battles with Hadadezer. 11 These, too, King David consecrated to the LORD, together with the silver and gold he had taken from every nation he had conquered:	11 I quali il re David consacrò al Signore insieme coll’oro e coll’argento consacrato da lui di tutte le genti, che avea soggiogate,
12 from Edom and Moab, from the Ammonites, from the Philistines, from the Amalekites, and from the plunder of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.	12 Della Siria, e di Moab, e de' figliuoli di Ammon de’ Filistei, e di Amalec, e colle spoglie di Adarezer figliuolo di Rohob, re di Soba.
13 On his return, David became famous for having slain eighteen thousand Edomites in the Salt Valley;	13 Acquistò ancor molta gloria Davidde, allorché ritornando dalla conquista della Siria, uccise diciotto mila uomini nella valle delle Saline.
14 after which he placed garrisons in Edom. Thus all the Edomites became David's subjects, and the LORD brought David victory in all his undertakings.	14 E pose governatori nell'Idumea, e un presidio di soldati: e l'Idumea tutta quanta fu soggetta a David. E il Signore custodì Davidde in tutti i luoghi, dov'egli andò.
15 David reigned over all Israel, judging and administering justice to all his people.	15 David pertanto regnò sopra tutto Israele: e rendeva ragione e amministrava giustizia a tutto il suo popolo.
16 Joab, son of Zeruiah, was in command of the army. Jehoshaphat, son of Ahilud, was chancellor.	16 E Gioab figliuolo di Sarvia era capitano dell'esercito: e Josaphath figliuolo di Abilud era sua segretario.
17 Zadok, son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech, son of Abiathar, were priests. Shawsha was scribe.	17 E Sadoc figliuolo di Achibob, e Achimelech figliuolo di Abiathar erano sommi sacerdoti e Saraia scrivano.
18 Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, was in command of the Cherethites and Pelethites. And David's sons were priests.	18 E Banaia figliuolo di Jojada era capo dì quelli di Cerethi, e di Phelethi; e i figliuoli di David erano i primi presso il re.
