After this David attacked the Philistines and conquered them, wresting. . . from the Philistines.1 Il advint après cela que David battit les Philistins et les abaissa. David prit des mains desPhilistins...
He also defeated Moab and then measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground. He told off two lengths of line for execution, and a full length to be spared. Thus the Moabites became tributary to David.2 Il battit aussi les Moabites et les mesura au cordeau en les faisant coucher à terre: il en mesuradeux cordeaux à mettre à mort et un plein cordeau à laisser en vie, et les Moabites devinrent sujets de David etlui payèrent tribut.
Next David defeated Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah, when he went to reestablish his dominion at the Euphrates River.3 David battit Hadadézer, fils de Rehob, roi de Coba, lorsque celui-ci alla pour étendre son pouvoirsur le Fleuve.

When the Arameans of Damascus came to the aid of Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David slew twenty-two thousand of them.5 Les Araméens de Damas vinrent au secours de Hadadézer, roi de Coba, mais David tua auxAraméens 22.000 hommes.
David then placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became subjects, tributary to David. The LORD brought David victory in all his undertakings.6 Puis David établit des gouverneurs dans l'Aram de Damas, et les Araméens devinrent sujets deDavid et lui payèrent tribut. Partout où David allait, Yahvé lui donna la victoire.
David also took away the golden shields used by Hadadezer's servants and brought them to Jerusalem. (These Shishak, king of Egypt, took away when he came to Jerusalem in the days of Rehoboam, son of Solomon.)7 David prit les rondaches d'or que portait la garde de Hadadézer et les emporta à Jérusalem.
From Tebah and Berothai, towns of Hadadezer, King David removed a very large quantity of bronze.8 De Tébah et de Bérotaï, villes de Hadadézer, le roi David enleva une énorme quantité de bronze.
When Toi, king of Hamath, heard that David had defeated all the forces of Hadadezer,9 Lorsque Tôou, roi de Hamat, apprit que David avait défait toute l'armée de Hadadézer,
he sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and to congratulate him for his victory over Hadadezer in battle, because Toi had been in many battles with Hadadezer.
These, too, King David consecrated to the LORD, together with the silver and gold he had taken from every nation he had conquered:11 Le roi David les consacra aussi à Yahvé, avec l'argent et l'or qu'il avait consacrés, provenant detoutes les nations qu'il avait subjuguées,
from Edom and Moab, from the Ammonites, from the Philistines, from the Amalekites, and from the plunder of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.12 Aram, Moab, les Ammonites, les Philistins, Amaleq, provenant aussi du butin pris à Hadadézer, fils de Rehob, roi de Coba.
On his return, David became famous for having slain eighteen thousand Edomites in the Salt Valley;13 David acquit du renom lorsqu'il revint de battre les Edomites dans la vallée du Sel, au nombre de18.000.
after which he placed garrisons in Edom. Thus all the Edomites became David's subjects, and the LORD brought David victory in all his undertakings.14 Il établit des gouverneurs en Edom et tous les Edomites devinrent sujets de David. Partout oùDavid allait, Yahvé lui donna la victoire.
David reigned over all Israel, judging and administering justice to all his people.15 David régna sur tout Israël, faisant droit et justice à tout son peuple.
