1 David had gone a little beyond the top when Ziba, the servant of Meribbaal, met him with saddled asses laden with two hundred loaves of bread, an ephah of cakes of pressed raisins, an ephah of summer fruits, and a skin of wine.	1 Había pasado David un poco más allá de la cumbre, cuando le salió al encuentro Sibá, criado de Meribbaal, con dos asnos aparejados, cargados con doscientos panes, cien racimos de uvas pasas, cien frutas maduras y un odre de vino.
2 The king said to Ziba, "What do you plan to do with these?" Ziba replied: "The asses are for the king's household to ride on. The bread and summer fruits are for your servants to eat, and the wine for those to drink who are weary in the desert."	2 El rey preguntó a Sibá: «¿Para qué es esto?» Sibá contestó: «Los asnos son para que la familia del rey pueda montar, los panes y frutas son para que los muchachos coman y el vino para que beba el que se fatigue en el desierto».
3 Then the king said, "And where is your lord's son?" Ziba answered the king, "He is staying in Jerusalem, for he said, 'Now the Israelites will restore to me my father's kingdom.'"	3 El rey preguntó: «¿Dónde está el hijo de tu señor?» Sibá respondió al rey: «Se ha quedado en Jerusalén porque se ha dicho: Hoy me devolverá la casa de Israel el reino de mi padre».
4 The king therefore said to Ziba, "So! Everything Meribbaal had is yours." Then Ziba said: "I pay you homage, my lord the king. May I find favor with you!"	4 El rey dijo a Sibá: «Todo lo de Meribbaal es para ti» Sibá respondió: «Me postro ante ti. ¡Que halle yo gracia a tus ojos, oh rey mi señor!»
5 As David was approaching Bahurim, a man named Shimei, the son of Gera of the same clan as Saul's family, was coming out of the place, cursing as he came.	5 Cuando el rey David llegó a Bajurim salió de allí un hombre del mismo clan que la casa de Saúl, llamado Semeí, hijo de Guerá. Iba maldiciendo mientras avanzaba.
6 He threw stones at David and at all the king's officers, even though all the soldiers, including the royal guard, were on David's right and on his left.	6 Tiraba piedras a David y a todos los servidores del rey, mientras toda la gente y todos los servidores se colocaban a derecha e izquierda.
7 Shimei was saying as he cursed: "Away, away, you murderous and wicked man!	7 Semeí decía maldiciendo: «Vete, vete, hombre sanguinario y malvado.
8 The LORD has requited you for all the bloodshed in the family of Saul, in whose stead you became king, and the LORD has given over the kingdom to your son Absalom. And now you suffer ruin because you are a murderer."	8 Yahveh te devuelva toda la sangre de la casa de Saúl, cuyo reino usurpaste. Así Yahveh ha entregado tu reino en manos de Absalón tu hijo. Has caído en tu propia maldad, porque eres un hombre sanguinario».
9 Abishai, son of Zeruiah, said to the king: "Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over, please, and lop off his head."	9 Abisay, hijo de Sarvia, dijo al rey: «¿Por qué ha de maldecir este perro muerto a mi señor el rey? Voy ahora mismo y le corto la cabeza».
10 But the king replied: "What business is it of mine or of yours, sons of Zeruiah, that he curses? Suppose the LORD has told him to curse David; who then will dare to say, 'Why are you doing this?'"	10 Respondió el rey: «¿Qué tengo yo con vosotros, hijos de Sarvia? Deja que maldiga, pues si Yahveh le ha dicho: “Maldice a David” ¿quién le puede decir: «Por qué haces esto?»
11 Then the king said to Abishai and to all his servants: "If my own son, who came forth from my loins, is seeking my life, how much more might this Benjaminite do so! Let him alone and let him curse, for the LORD has told him to.	11 Y añadió David a Abisay y a todos sus siervos: «Mirad, mi hijo, salido de mis entrañas, busca mi muerte, pues ¿cuánto más ahora un benjaminita? Dejadle que maldiga, pues se lo ha mandado Yahveh.
12 Perhaps the LORD will look upon my affliction and make it up to me with benefits for the curses he is uttering this day."	12 Acaso Yahveh mire mi aflicción y me devuelva Yahveh bien por las maldiciones de este día».
13 David and his men continued on the road, while Shimei kept abreast of them on the hillside, all the while cursing and throwing stones and dirt as he went.	13 Y David y sus hombres prosiguieron su camino, mientras Semeí marchaba por el flanco de la montaña, paralelo a él; iba malcidiendo, tirando piedras y arrojandos polvo.
14 The king and all the soldiers with him arrived at the Jordan tired out, and stopped there for a rest.	14 El rey y todo el pueblo que iba con él, llegaron extenuados a... y allí tomaron aliento.
15 In the meantime Absalom, accompanied by Ahithophel, entered Jerusalem with all the Israelites.	15 Absalón y todos hombres de Israel entraron en Jerusalén; Ajitófel estaba con él.
16 When David's friend Hushai the Archite came to Absalom, he said to him: "Long live the king! Long live the king!"	16 Llegó Jusay el arquita, amigo de David, donde Absalón y dijo Jusay a Absalón: «¡Viva el rey, viva el rey!»
17 But Absalom asked Hushai: "Is this your devotion to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?"	17 Absalón dijo a Jusay: «¿Es éste tu afecto por tu amigo? ¿Por qué no te has ido con tu amigo?»
18 Hushai replied to Absalom: "On the contrary, I am his whom the LORD and all this people and all Israel have chosen, and with him I will stay.	18 Jusay respondió a Absalón: «No. Yo quiero estar y permanecer con aquel a quien ha elegido Yahveh, este pueblo y todos los hombres de Israel.
19 Furthermore, as I was in attendance upon your father, so will I be before you. Whom should I serve, if not his son?"	19 Por lo demás ¿a quién voy a servir? ¿No es a su hijo? Como he servido a tu padre, te serviré a ti».
20 Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, "Offer your counsel on what we should do."	20 Absalón dijo a Ajitófel: «Tomad consejo sobre lo que se debe hacer».
21 Ahithophel replied to Absalom: "Have relations with your father's concubines, whom he left behind to take care of the palace. When all Israel hears how odious you have made yourself to your father, all your partisans will take courage."	21 Ajitófel dijo a Absalón: «Llégate a las concubinas que tu padre ha dejado para guardar la casa; todo Israel sabrá que te has hecho odioso a tu padre y se fortalecerán las manos de todos los que están contigo.
22 So a tent was pitched on the roof for Absalom, and he visited his father's concubines in view of all Israel.	22 Se levantó, pues, una tienda para Absalón sobre el terrado y Absalón se unió a las concubinas de su padre a la vista de todo Israel.
23 Now the counsel given by Ahithophel at that time was as though one had sought divine revelation. Such was all his counsel both to David and to Absalom.	23 El consejo que daba Ajitófel aquellos días era como si se hubiese pedido un oráculo a Dios. Así era tenido el consejo de Ajitófel, tanto por David como por Absalón.
