2 made war on Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).	2 mossero guerra a Bara re di Sodoma, a Bersa re di Gomorra, a Sennaab re di Adama, a Semeber re di Seboim e al re di Baia o Segor.
3 All the latter kings joined forces in the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea).	3 Tutti questi si radunarono nella valle dei Boschi, che ora è il mar del sale.
4 For twelve years they had been subject to Chedorlaomer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.	4 Per dodici anni erano stati soggetti a Codorlaomor, e il decimoterzo si erano ribellati.

7 They then turned back and came to Enmishpat (that is, Kadesh), and they subdued the whole country both of the Amalekites and of the Amorites who dwelt in Hazazon-tamar.	7 Tornando poi indietro, giunsero alla fontana di Misfat, ossia Cades, e devastarono tutte le terre degli Amaleciti e degli Amorrei che abitavano in Asason-Tamar.
8 Thereupon the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) marched out, and in the Valley of Siddim they went into battle against them:	8 Allora il re di Sodoma, il re di Gomorra, il re di Adama, e il re di Seboim e il re di Baia, o Segor, si mossero e si schierarono a battaglia nella valle dei Boschi contro di loro,
9 against Chedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar-four kings against five.	9 cioè contro Codorlaomor ré degli Elamiti, Tadal re delle Genti, Amrafel re di Sennaar, e Arioc re di Ponto: quattro re contro cinque.
10 Now the Valley of Siddim was full of bitumen pits; and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, they fell into these, while the rest fled to the mountains.	10 Or la valle dei Boschi aveva molti pozzi di bitume, e i re di Sodoma e di Gomorra si diedero alla fuga e vi caddero dentro, e quelli che si salvarono fuggirono alla montagna.
11 The victors seized all the possessions and food supplies of Sodom and Gomorrah and then went their way,	11 E (i vincitori) presero tutte le ricchezze di Sodoma e di Gomorra e tutti i viveri, e se ne andarono;
12 taking with them Abram's nephew Lot, who had been living in Sodom, as well as his possessions.	12 presero anche Lot, figlio del fratello di Abramo, che abitava in Sodoma, e tutte le sue sostanze.
13 A fugitive came and brought the news to Abram the Hebrew, who was camping at the terebinth of Mamre the Amorite, a kinsman of Eshcol and Aner; these were in league with Abram.	13 Ed uno degli scampati raccontò l'accaduto ad Abramo Ebreo, che abitava nella valle di Mambre Amorreo, fratello di Escol e di Aner, i quali s'eran confederati con Abramo.
14 When Abram heard that his nephew had been captured, he mustered three hundred and eighteen of his retainers, born in his house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.	14 E Abramo, come ebbe sentito che Lot suo fratello era stato fatto prigioniero, scelse trecentodiciotto tra i migliori servi nati in casa, e inseguì (i nemici) fino a Dan.
15 He and his party deployed against them at night, defeated them, and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus.	15 E, divise le schiere, li assalì di notte tempo, e li sbaragliò, e l'inseguì fino ad Hoba, che è a sinistra di Damasco.
16 He recovered all the possessions, besides bringing back his kinsman Lot and his possessions, along with the women and the other captives.	16 E ricuperò tutta la roba, e Lot suo fratello con tutto ciò che gli apparteneva, e anche le donne e il popolo.
17 When Abram returned from his victory over Chedorlaomer and the kings who were allied with him, the king of Sodom went out to greet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley).	17 E quando egli tornò dalla sconfitta di Codorlaomor e dei re che erano con lui, il re di Sodoma gli andò incontro nella valle di Save, che è la valle del re.
18 Melchizedek, king of Salem, brought out bread and wine, and being a priest of God Most High, he blessed Abram with these words:	18 E Melchisedec re di Salern, offrendo del pane e del vino, chè era sacerdote dell'Altissimo Dio,
19 Blessed be Abram by God Most High, the creator of heaven and earth;	19 lo benedisse, dicendo: «Benedetto sia Abramo dall'Altissimo Iddio che creò il cielo e la terra,
20 And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your foes into your hand." Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.	20 e benedetto l'Altissimo Dio, per la cui protezione i nemici sono caduti in tuo potere ». E Abramo gli diede la decima di tutto.
21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, "Give me the people; the goods you may keep."	21 E il re di Sodoma disse ad Abramo: « Dammi le persone e prendi per te il resto ».
22 But Abram replied to the king of Sodom: "I have sworn to the LORD, God Most High, the creator of heaven and earth,	22 Ma Abramo gli rispose: « Alzo la mia mano al Signore Dio Altissimo, padrone del cielo e della terra;
23 that I would not take so much as a thread or a sandal strap from anything that is yours, lest you should say, 'I made Abram rich.'	23 di ciò che è tuo non prenderò nè un fil di trama, nè un legaccio di sandali, perchè tu non abbia a dire poi: « Ho arricchito Abramo ».
24 Nothing for me except what my servants have used up and the share that is due to the men who joined me--Aner, Eshcol and Mamre; let them take their share."	24 Nulla, tolto quello che hanno mangiato i giovani e le porzioni degli uomini che son venuti meco: Aner, Escol e Mambre: prendano essi la loro parte ».
