1 In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth,	1 Kezdetben teremtette Isten az eget és a földet.
2 the earth was a formless wasteland, and darkness covered the abyss, while a mighty wind swept over the waters.	2 A föld puszta és üres volt, és sötétség volt a mélység felett, és Isten Lelke a vizek felett lebegett.
3 Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.	3 És Isten szólt: »Legyen világosság!« És lett világosság.
4 God saw how good the light was. God then separated the light from the darkness.	4 Látta Isten, hogy a világosság jó. Elválasztotta a világosságot a sötétségtől,
5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." Thus evening came, and morning followed--the first day.	5 és elnevezte a világosságot nappalnak, a sötétséget pedig éjszakának. Akkor este és reggel lett: egy nap.
6 Then God said, "Let there be a dome in the middle of the waters, to separate one body of water from the other." And so it happened:	6 Azután újra szólt Isten: »Legyen boltozat a vizek között, s válassza el a vizeket a vizektől!«
7 God made the dome, and it separated the water above the dome from the water below it.	7 Meg is alkotta Isten a boltozatot, s elválasztotta azokat a vizeket, amelyek a boltozat alatt voltak, azoktól, amelyek a boltozat felett voltak. Úgy is lett.
8 God called the dome "the sky." Evening came, and morning followed--the second day.	8 Isten elnevezte a boltozatot égnek. Akkor este és reggel lett: a második nap.
9 Then God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered into a single basin, so that the dry land may appear." And so it happened: the water under the sky was gathered into its basin, and the dry land appeared.	9 Azt mondta ezután Isten: »Gyűljenek egy helyre a vizek, amelyek az ég alatt vannak, és tűnjék elő a száraz!« Úgy is lett.
10 God called the dry land "the earth," and the basin of the water he called "the sea." God saw how good it was.	10 Isten elnevezte a szárazat földnek, az egybegyűlt vizeket pedig elnevezte tengernek. És látta Isten, hogy jó.
11 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth vegetation: every kind of plant that bears seed and every kind of fruit tree on earth that bears fruit with its seed in it." And so it happened:	11 Majd azt mondta Isten: »Hajtson a föld füvet, amely zöldül és magot hoz, és gyümölcstermő fát, amely a földön faja szerint meghozza gyümölcsét, a belsejében maggal!« Úgy is lett.
12 the earth brought forth every kind of plant that bears seed and every kind of fruit tree on earth that bears fruit with its seed in it. God saw how good it was.	12 A föld füvet hajtott, amely zöldül, és faja szerint magot hoz, és fát, amely faja szerint gyümölcsöt hoz, a belsejében maggal. És látta Isten, hogy jó.
13 Evening came, and morning followed--the third day.	13 És lett este és reggel: a harmadik nap.
14 Then God said: "Let there be lights in the dome of the sky, to separate day from night. Let them mark the fixed times, the days and the years,	14 Azt mondta ezután Isten: »Legyenek világítók az ég boltozatán! Válasszák el a nappalt az éjszakától, jelezzék az időket, a napokat és az esztendőket,
15 and serve as luminaries in the dome of the sky, to shed light upon the earth." And so it happened:	15 ragyogjanak az ég boltozatán, és világítsanak a földre!« Úgy is lett.
16 God made the two great lights, the greater one to govern the day, and the lesser one to govern the night; and he made the stars.	16 Megalkotta tehát Isten a két nagy világítót – a nagyobbik világítót, hogy uralkodjék a nappalon, meg a kisebbik világítót, hogy uralkodjék az éjszakán – és a csillagokat.
17 God set them in the dome of the sky, to shed light upon the earth,	17 Az ég boltozatára helyezte őket, hogy világítsanak a földre,
18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. God saw how good it was.	18 s uralkodjanak a nappalon és az éjszakán, és válasszák el a világosságot a sötétségtől. És látta Isten, hogy jó.
19 Evening came, and morning followed--the fourth day.	19 És lett este és reggel: a negyedik nap.
20 Then God said, "Let the water teem with an abundance of living creatures, and on the earth let birds fly beneath the dome of the sky." And so it happened:	20 Azt mondta ezután Isten: »Hozzanak elő a vizek csúszó-mászó élőlényeket, és szárnyaljon szárnyas a föld felett, az ég boltozata alatt!«
21 God created the great sea monsters and all kinds of swimming creatures with which the water teems, and all kinds of winged birds. God saw how good it was,	21 Megteremtette tehát Isten a nagy tengeri szörnyetegeket, és mindazt az élő és nyüzsgő lényt, amelyet a vizek előhoztak, faja szerint, és minden szárnyast, faja szerint. És látta Isten, hogy jó.
22 and God blessed them, saying, "Be fertile, multiply, and fill the water of the seas; and let the birds multiply on the earth."	22 És megáldotta őket Isten: »Szaporodjatok, sokasodjatok, töltsétek be a tenger vizeit, és sokasodjék a szárnyas a földön!«
23 Evening came, and morning followed--the fifth day.	23 És lett este és reggel: az ötödik nap.
24 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth all kinds of living creatures: cattle, creeping things, and wild animals of all kinds." And so it happened:	24 Azt mondta ezután Isten: »Hozzon elő a föld élőlényt, faja szerint: lábasjószágot, csúszómászót és szárazföldi vadat, faja szerint.« Úgy is lett.
25 God made all kinds of wild animals, all kinds of cattle, and all kinds of creeping things of the earth. God saw how good it was.	25 Megalkotta tehát Isten a szárazföld vadjait, fajuk szerint, a lábasjószágokat, fajuk szerint, és a föld minden csúszómászóját, faja szerint. És látta Isten, hogy jó.
26 Then God said: "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and the cattle, and over all the wild animals and all the creatures that crawl on the ground."	26 Majd azt mondta Isten: »Alkossunk embert a mi képünkre és hasonlatosságunkra, hogy uralkodjék a tenger halain, az ég madarain, az állatokon és az egész földön, s minden csúszómászón, amely mozog a földön!«
27 God created man in his image; in the divine image he created him; male and female he created them.	27 Megteremtette tehát Isten az embert a maga képére; Isten képére teremtette őt, férfinak és nőnek teremtette őket.
28 God blessed them, saying: "Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that move on the earth."	28 Isten megáldotta őket, és azt mondta nekik Isten: »Szaporodjatok, sokasodjatok, töltsétek be a földet! Hajtsátok azt uralmatok alá, és uralkodjatok a tenger halain, az ég madarain, és minden állaton, amely mozog a földön!«
29 God also said: "See, I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the earth and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it to be your food;	29 Majd azt mondta Isten: »Íme, nektek adtam minden füvet, amely magot hoz a földön, s minden fát, amelynek a gyümölcsében benne van a magva, hogy legyen ennivalótok,
30 and to all the animals of the land, all the birds of the air, and all the living creatures that crawl on the ground, I give all the green plants for food." And so it happened.	30 a zöld növényzetet pedig a föld minden állatának, az ég minden madarának és mindannak, ami mozog a földön, s amiben élő pára van, hogy eledelük legyen!« Úgy is lett.
31 God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good. Evening came, and morning followed--the sixth day.	31 És látta Isten, hogy mindaz, amit alkotott, nagyon jó volt. És lett este és reggel: a hatodik nap.
