Deuteronomy 31

1 And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.	1 Moïse alla donc déclarer toutes ces choses à tout le peuple d'Israël,
2 And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the LORD hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.	2 et il leur dit: J'ai actuellement cent vingt ans; je ne puis plus vous conduire, principalement après que le Seigneur m'a dit: Vous ne passerez point ce Jourdain.
3 The LORD thy God, he will go over before thee, and he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt possess them: and Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the LORD hath said.	3 Le Seigneur votre Dieu passera donc devant vous; c'est Lui-même qui exterminera devant vous toutes ces nations dont vous posséderez le pays; et Josué, que vous voyez, marchera à votre tête, selon que le Seigneur l'a ordonné.
4 And the LORD shall do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and unto the land of them, whom he destroyed.	4 Le Seigneur traitera ces peuples comme Il a traité Séhon et Og, rois des Amorrhéens, avec tout leur pays, et Il les extermina.
5 And the LORD shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have commanded you.	5 Lors donc que le Seigneur vous aura livré aussi ces peuples, vous les traiterez comme vous avez traité les autres, selon que je vous l'ai ordonné.
6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.	6 Soyez courageux et ayez de la fermeté; ne craignez pas, et ne vous laissez pas saisir de frayeur en les voyant, parce que le Seigneur votre Dieu est Lui-même votre guide, et qu'Il ne vous délaissera et ne vous abandonnera pas.
7 And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.	7 Moïse appela donc Josué, et lui dit devant tout le peuple d'Israël: Soyez ferme et courageux, car c'est vous qui ferez entrer ce peuple dans la terre que le Seigneur a juré à leurs pères de leur donner, et c'est vous aussi qui la leur partagerez au sort.
8 And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.	8 Le Seigneur, qui est votre guide, sera Lui-même avec vous; Il ne vous délaissera pas et ne vous abandonnera pas; ne craignez point, et ne vous laissez pas intimider.
9 And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and unto all the elders of Israel.	9 Moïse écrivit donc cette loi, et il la donna aux prêtres, enfants de Lévi, qui portaient l'arche de l'alliance du Seigneur, et à tous les anciens d'Israël.
10 And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,	10 Et il leur donna cet ordre, et leur dit: Tous les sept ans, lorsque l'année de la remise sera venue, et au temps de la fête des Tabernacles,
11 When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.	11 quand tous les enfants d'Israël s'assembleront pour paraître devant le Seigneur votre Dieu, au lieu que le Seigneur aura choisi, vous lirez les paroles de cette loi devant tout Israël, qui l'écoutera attentivement,
12 Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:	12 tout le peuple étant assemblé, tant les hommes que les femmes, les petits enfants que les étrangers qui se trouveront dans vos villes; afin que lI'écoutant, ils l'apprennent, qu'ils craignent le Seigneur votre Dieu, et qu'ils observent et accomplissent toutes les ordonnances de cette loi,
13 And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.	13 et que leurs enfants mêmes, qui n'en ont encore aucune connaissance, puissent les entendre, et qu'ils craignent le Seigneur leur Dieu pendant tout le temps qu'ils demeureront dans la terre que vous allez posséder, quand vous aurez passé le Jourdain.
14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.	14 Alors le Seigneur dit à Moïse: Le jour de votre mort approche; faites venir Josué, et présentez-vous tous deux devant le tabernacle du témoignage, afin que Je lui donne Mes ordres. Moïse et Josué allèrent donc se présenter devant le tabernacle du témoignage;
15 And the LORD appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle.	15 et le Seigneur y parut en même temps dans la colonne de nuée, qui s'arrêta à l'entrée du tabernacle.
16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.	16 Le Seigneur dit alors à Moïse: Vous allez vous reposer avec vos pères, et ce peuple s'abandonnera et se prostituera à des dieux étrangers dans le pays où il va entrer pour y habiter. Il se séparera de Moi lorsqu'il y sera, et il violera l'alliance que J'avais faite avec lui.
17 Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day. Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?	17 Et Ma fureur s'allumera contre lui en ce temps-là; Je l'abandonnerai et lui cacherai Mon visage, et il sera exposé commee une proie. Tous les maux et toutes les afflictions viendront sur lui, et le contraindront de dire en ce jour-là: vraiment c'est parce que Dieu n'est point avec moi, que je suis tombé dans tous ces maux.
18 And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.	18 Cependant Je Me cacherai et Je lui couvrirai Ma face, à cause de tous les maux qu'il aura faits en suivant des dieux étrangers.
19 Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.	19 Maintenant donc écrivez pour vous ce cantique, et apprenez-le aux enfants d'Israël, afin qu'ils le sachent par coeur, qu'ils l'aient dans la bouche et qu'ils le chantent, et que ce cantique Me serve de témoignage au milieu des enfants d'Israël.
20 For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.	20 Car Je les ferai entrer dans la terre que J'ai juré de donner à leurs pères, où coulent le lait et le miel. Et lorsqu'ils auront mangé et qu'ils se seront rassasiés et engraissés, ils se détourneront de Moi pour aller après des dieux étrangers; ils les adoreront, ils parleront contre Moi, et ils violeront Mon alliance.
21 And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.	21 Et lorsque les maux et les afflictions seront tombés sur eux, ce cantique portera contre eux un témoignage qui vivra dans la bouche de leurs enfants, sans qu'ils puissent jamais être effacé. Car Je connais leurs pensées, et Je sais ce qu'ils doivent faire aujourd'hui avant que Je leur fasse entrer dans la terre que Je leur ai promise.
22 Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.	22 Moïse écrivit donc le cantique, et il l'apprit aux enfants d'Israël.
23 And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them: and I will be with thee.	23 Alors le Seigneur donna cet ordre à Josué, fils de Nun, et il lui dit: Soyez ferme et courageux, car c'est vous qui ferez entrer les enfants d'Israël dans la terre que Je leur ai promise, et Je serai avec vous.
24 And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,	24 Après donc que Moïse eut achevé d'écrire dans un livre les ordonnances de cette loi,
25 That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,	25 Il donna cette ordre aux lévites qui portaient l'arche d'alliance du Seigneur, et il leur dit:
26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.	26 Prenez ce livre, et mettez-le à côté de l'arche d'alliance du Seigneur votre Dieu, afin qu'il y serve de témoignage contre vous.
27 For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?	27 Car je sais quelle est votre obstination, et combien vous êtes durs et inflexibles. Pendant tout le temps que j'ai vécu et que j'ai agi parmi vous, vous avez toujours disputé et murmuré contre le Seigneur, combien plus le ferez-vous quand je serai mort?
28 Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them.	28 Assemblez devant moi tous les anciens de vos tribus et tous vos docteurs, et je prononcerai devant eux les paroles de ce cantique, et j'appellerai à témoin contre eux le ciel et la terre.
29 For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.	29 Car je sais qu'après ma mort vous vous conduirez fort mal, que vous vous détournerez promptement de la voie que je vous ai prescrite; et le mal finira par vous atteindre quand vous ferez ce qui est mal devant le Seigneur, au point de L'irriter par les oeuvres de vos mains.
30 And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended.	30 Moïse prononça donc les paroles de ce cantique, et il le récita jusqu'à la fin devant tout le peuple d'Israël qui l'écoutait.
