Deuteronomy 31

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.	1 Moïse vint adresser ces paroles à tout Israël:
2 And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the LORD hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.	2 "J'ai aujourd'hui 120 ans. Je ne puis plus agir en chef, et Yahvé m'a dit: Tu ne passeras pas ceJourdain.
3 The LORD thy God, he will go over before thee, and he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt possess them: and Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the LORD hath said.	3 C'est Yahvé ton Dieu qui passera devant toi, c'est lui qui détruira ces nations devant toi pourles déposséder. C'est Josué qui passera devant toi, ainsi que l'a dit Yahvé.
4 And the LORD shall do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and unto the land of them, whom he destroyed.	4 Yahvé les traitera comme il a traité Sihôn et Og, rois amorites, et leur pays: il les a détruits.
5 And the LORD shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have commanded you.	5 Yahvé vous les livrera et vous les traiterez en tout point selon les commandements que jevous ai prescrits.
6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.	6 Soyez forts et tenez bon, ne craignez pas et ne tremblez pas devant eux, car c'est Yahvé tonDieu qui marche avec toi: il ne te délaissera pas et ne t'abandonnera pas."
7 And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.	7 Puis Moïse appela Josué et il lui dit aux yeux de tout Israël: "Sois fort et tiens bon: tuentreras avec ce peuple au pays que Yahvé a juré à leurs pères de leur donner, et c'est toi qui les en mettras enpossession.
8 And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.	8 C'est Yahvé qui marche devant toi, c'est lui qui sera avec toi; il ne te délaissera pas et net'abandonnera pas. Ne crains pas, ne sois pas effrayé."
9 And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and unto all the elders of Israel.	9 Moïse mit cette Loi par écrit et la donna aux prêtres, fils de Lévi, qui portaient l'arche del'alliance de Yahvé, ainsi qu'à tous les anciens d'Israël.
10 And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,	10 Moïse leur donna cet ordre: "Tous les sept ans, temps fixé pour l'année de Remise, lors dela fête des Tentes,
11 When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.	11 au moment où tout Israël se rend, pour voir la face de Yahvé ton Dieu, au lieu qu'il aurachoisi, tu prononceras cette Loi aux oreilles de tout Israël.
12 Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:	12 Assemble le peuple, hommes, femmes, enfants, l'étranger qui est dans tes portes, pour qu'ilsentendent, qu'ils apprennent à craindre Yahvé votre Dieu et qu'ils gardent, pour les mettre en pratique, toutes lesparoles de cette Loi.
13 And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.	13 Leurs fils, qui ne le savent pas encore, entendront, et apprendront à craindre Yahvé votreDieu, tous les jours que vous vivrez sur la terre dont vous allez prendre possession en passant le Jourdain."
14 And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.	14 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Voici venir les jours de ta mort, appelle Josué. Tenez-vous à la Tentedu Rendez-vous, pour que je lui donne mes ordres." Moïse et Josué vinrent se tenir à la Tente du Rendez-vous.
15 And the LORD appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle.	15 Yahvé se fit voir, dans la Tente, dans une colonne de nuée; la colonne de nuée se tenait àl'entrée de la Tente.
16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.	16 Yahvé dit à Moïse: "Voici que tu vas te coucher avec tes pères, et ce peuple est sur le pointde se prostituer en suivant des dieux du pays étranger où il va pénétrer. Il m'abandonnera et rompra l'alliance quej'ai conclue avec lui.
17 Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day. Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?	17 Ce jour-là même ma colère s'enflammera contre lui, je les abandonnerai et je leur cacheraima face. Pour les dévorer, une foule de maux et d'adversités l'atteindront, de sorte qu'il dira en ce jour-là: Si cesmaux m'ont atteint, n'est-ce pas parce que mon Dieu n'est pas au milieu de moi?
18 And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.	18 Et moi, oui, je cacherai ma face en ce jour, à cause de tout le mal qu'il aura fait, en setournant vers d'autres dieux.
19 Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.	19 "Ecrivez maintenant pour votre usage le cantique que voici; enseigne-le aux Israélites,mets-le dans leur bouche, afin qu'il me serve de témoin contre les Israélites.
20 For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.	20 Lui que je conduis en cette terre que j'ai promise par serment à ses pères, et qui ruisselle delait et de miel, il mangera, il se rassasiera, il s'engraissera, puis il se tournera vers d'autres dieux, ils les serviront,ils me mépriseront, et il rompra mon alliance.
21 And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.	21 Mais lorsque des maux et adversités sans nombre l'auront atteint, ce cantique porteratémoignage contre lui; car sa postérité ne l'aura pas oublié. Oui, je sais les desseins qu'il forme aujourd'hui, avantmême que je l'ai conduit au pays que j'ai juré."
22 Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.	22 Et Moïse écrivit en ce jour ce cantique et il l'enseigna aux Israélites.
23 And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them: and I will be with thee.	23 Il donna cet ordre à Josué fils de Nûn: "Sois fort et tiens bon, car c'est toi qui conduiras lesIsraélites au pays que je leur ai promis par serment, et moi, je serai avec toi."
24 And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,	24 Lorsqu'il eut achevé d'écrire sur un livre les paroles de cette Loi jusqu'à la fin,
25 That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,	25 Moïse donna cet ordre aux lévites qui portaient l'arche de l'alliance de Yahvé:
26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.	26 "Prenez le livre de cette Loi. Placez-le à côté de l'arche de l'alliance de Yahvé votre Dieu.Qu'il y serve de témoin contre toi.
27 For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?	27 Car je connais ton esprit rebelle et la raideur de ta nuque. Si aujourd'hui, alors que je suisencore vivant avec vous, vous êtes rebelles à Yahvé, combien plus le serez-vous après ma mort.
28 Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them.	28 "Faites assembler auprès de moi tous les anciens de vos tribus et vos scribes, que je leurfasse entendre ces paroles, en prenant à témoin contre eux le ciel et la terre.
29 For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.	29 Car je sais qu'après ma mort vous ne manquerez pas de vous corrompre, vous vousécarterez de la voie que je vous ai prescrite; le malheur vous adviendra dans l'avenir, pour avoir fait ce qui estmal aux yeux de Yahvé en l'irritant par les oeuvres de vos mains."
30 And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended.	30 Puis, aux oreilles de toute l'assemblée d'Israël, Moïse prononça jusqu'à la dernière lesparoles de ce cantique:Deutéronome
