1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;	1 Disse-lhes também uma parábola, para mostrar que importa orar sempre e não cessar de o fazer:
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:	2 "Havia em certa cidade um juiz, que não temia a Deus, nem respeitava os homens.
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.	3 Havia também na mesma cidade uma viúva, que ia ter com ele, dizendo: Faz-me justiça contra o meu adversário.
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;	4 Ele, durante muito tempo, não quis atender. Mas depois disse consigo: Ainda que eu não temo a Deus, nem respeito os homens,
5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.	5 todavia, visto que esta viúva me importuna, far-lhe-ei justiça, para que não venha continuamente importunar-me."
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.	6 Então o Senhor acrescentou : "Ouvi o que diz este juiz iníquo.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?	7 E Deus não fará justiça aos seus escolhidos, que estão clamando a ele, de dia e de noite, e tardará em os socorrer?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?	8 Digo-vos que depressa lhes fará justiça. Mas, quando vier o Filho do homem, julgais vós que encontrará fé sobre a terra?"
9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:	9 Disse também esta parábola a uns que confiavam muito em si mesmos, como se fossem justos, e desprezavam os outros.
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.	10 "Subiram dois homens ao templo a fazer oração: um era fariseu, outro publicano.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.	11 O fariseu, de pé, orava no seu interior desta forma: Graças te dou, ó Deus, porque não sou como os outros homens: ladrões, injustos, adúlteros, nem como este publicano.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.	12 Jejuo duas vezes na semana; pago o dízimo de tudo o que possuo,
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.	13 O publicano, porém, conservando-se a distância, não ousava nem ainda levantar os olhos ao céu, mas batia no peito, dizendo: Meu Deus, tem piedade de mim pecador.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.	14 Digo-vos que este voltou justificado para sua casa, o outro não; porque quem se exalta será humilhado, e quem se humilha será exaltado."
15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.	15 Traziam-lhe também meninos, para que os tocasse. Vendo isto os discípulos repreendiam-nos.
16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.	16 Porém Jesus, chamando-os a si, disse: "Deixai vir a mim os meninos, e não os embaraceis, porque o reino de Deus é dos que se parecem com eles.
17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.	17 Em verdade vos digo: O que não receber o reino de Deus como um menino, não entrará nele."
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?	18 Então um dos principais fez-lhe esta pergunta: "Bom Mestre, que devo eu fazer para obter a vida eterna?"
19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.	19 Jesus respondeu-lhe: "Porque me chamas bom? Ninguém é bom senão só Deus.
20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.	20 Tu conheces os mandamentos: não matarás, não cometerás adultério, não furtarás, não dirás falso testemunho, honra teu pai e tua mãe (Ex. 20, 12-16 ; Dt. 5, 16-20)."
21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.	21 Ele disse: "Tenho observado tudo isso desde a minha juventude."
22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.	22 Tendo Jesus ouvido isto, disse-Ihe: "Ainda te falta uma coisa: Vende tudo quanto tens, dá-o aos pobres, e terás um tesouro no céu; depois vem, segue-me."
23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.	23 Mas ele, ouvindo isto, entristeceu-se, porque era muito rico.
24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!	24 Jesus, vendo esta tristeza, disse : "Quanto é difícil que aqueles que têm riquezas entrem no reino de Deus!
25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.	25 E’ mais fácil passar um camelo pelo fundo de uma agulha, do que entrar um rico no reino de Deus."
26 And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?	26 Os que o ouviam disseram: "Quem pode, pois, salvar-se?"
27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.	27 Jesus respondeu-lhes: "O que é impossível aos homens, é possível a Deus."
28 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.	28 Então disse Pedro : "Eis que deixámos tudo para te seguir."
29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,	29 Ele disse-lhes: "Em verdade vos digo que ninguém há que tenha abandonado a casa, a mulher, os irmãos, os pais ou os filhos por causa do reino de Deus,
30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.	30 que não receba muito mais já neste mundo, e, no século futuro, a vida eterna."
31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.	31 Em seguida tomou Jesus aparte os doze, e disse-Ihes: "Eis que vamos para Jerusalém, e será cumprido tudo o que está escrito pelos profetas relativo ao Filho do homem.
32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:	32 Será entregue aos gentios, será escarnecido, ultrajado, cuspido;
33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.	33 e, depois de o açoutarem, o matarão, e ressuscitará ao terceiro dia."
34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.	34 Eles, porém, nada disto compreenderam; este discurso era para eles obscuro, e não penetravam coisa alguma do que lhes dizia.
35 And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:	35 Sucedeu que, aproximando-se eles de Jericó, estava sentado à borda da estrada um cego pedindo esmola.
36 And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.	36 Ouvindo a turba que passava, perguntou que era aquilo.
37 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.	37 Disseram-lhe que era Jesus Nazareno que passava.
38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.	38 Então ele clamou : "Jesus, Filho de David, tem piedade de mim !"
39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.	39 Os que iam adiante repreendiam-no para que se calasse. Porém, ele, cada vez gritava mais: "Filho de David, tem piedade de mim!"
40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,	40 Jesus, parando, mandou que lho trouxessem. Quando ele chegou, interrogou-o:
41 Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.	41 "Que queres que eu te faça?" Ele respondeu: "Senhor, fazei que eu veja."
42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.	42 Jesus disse-lhe: "Vê; a tua fé te salvou."
43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.	43 Imediatamente, viu, e foi-o seguindo, glorificando a Deus. Todo o povo, vendo isto, deu louvor a Deus.
