KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep,1 Then the angel who spoke with me returned and awakened me, like a man awakened from his sleep.
And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:2 "What do you see?" he asked me. "I see a lampstand all of gold, with a bowl at the top," I replied; "on it are seven lamps with their tubes,
And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.3 and beside it are two olive trees, one on the right and the other on the left."
So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?4 Then I said to the angel who spoke with me, "What are these things, my lord?"
Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.5 And the angel who spoke with me replied, "Do you not know what these things are?" "No, my lord," I answered.
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.6 Then he said to me, "This is the LORD'S message to Zerubbabel: Not by an army, nor by might, but by my spirit, says the LORD of hosts.
Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.7 What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you are but a plain. He shall bring out the capstone amid exclamations of 'Hail, Hail' to it."
Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,8 This word of the LORD then came to me:
The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundations of this house, and his hands shall finish it; then you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.
For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.10 For even they who were scornful on that day of small beginnings shall rejoice to see the select stone in the hands of Zerubbabel. These seven facets are the eyes of the LORD that range over the whole earth.
Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?11 I then asked him, "What are these two olive trees at each side of the lampstand?"
And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?12 And again I asked, "What are the two olive tufts which freely pour out fresh oil through the two golden channels?"
And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.13 "Do you not know what these are?" he said to me. "No, my lord," I answered him.
Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the LORD of the whole earth.14 He said, "These are the two anointed who stand by the LORD of the whole earth."
