1 Then came the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there.	1 E i figliuoli d'Israele, e tutta la moltitudine arrivarono al deserto di Sin il mese primo,e il popolo si fermò a Cades. E quivi si mori Maria, e fu sepolta nel medesimo luogo.
2 And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.	2 E penuriando di acque il popolo, si raunarono contro Mosé ed Aronne:
3 And the people chode with Moses, and spake, saying, Would God that we had died when our brethren died before the LORD!	3 E levatisi a sedizione dissero: Fossimo noi periti insieme co' nostri fratelli dinanzi alSignore!
4 And why have ye brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our cattle should die there?	4 Per qual ragione avete voi condotta la gente del Signore in una solitudine, affinché muoiannoi, e i nostri giumenti?
5 And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.	5 Perché ci avete fatti partir dall'Egitto, e condotti in questo luogo miserabile, dove non sipuò seminare, e il quale non produce né fichi, né viti, né melagrane, e oltre a ciò non dàacqua da bere?
6 And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.	6 E Mosè ed Aronne, rimandata la moltitudine, entraron nel tabernacolo dell'alleanza, eprostrati boccone per terra alzaron le voci dinanzi al Signore, e dissero: Signore Dio,ascolta i clamori di questo popolo, e apri loro i tuoi tesori, una fontana di acqua viva,affinché si dissetino, e abbian fine le loro mormorazioni. E la gloria del Signore si fevedere sopra di essi
7 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,	7 E il Signore parlò a Mosè, e disse:
8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.	8 Prendi la verga, e raduna il popolo tu, e Aronne tuo fratello, e alla loro presenza parlatealla pietra, ed ella darà dell'acque. E quando avrai cavata l'acqua dalla pietra, berà tuttoil popolo, e i suoi giumenti.
9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.	9 Prese adunque Mosè la verga, che era tenuta nel cospetto del Signore, come questi gli aveaordinato,
10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?	10 E raunata la moltitudine davanti a un masso, disse loro: Udite voi, ribelli e increduli:Potrem noi forse cavare a voi dell'acqua da questo masso?
11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.	11 E avendo Mosè alzata la mano, e avendo percossa due volte colla verga la pietra, nescaturirono acque in grandissima copia, talmente che bevve il popolo, e i suoi bestiami.
12 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.	12 E il Signore disse a Mosè e ad Aronne: Perché voi non avete creduto a me per far conoscerela mia santità dinanzi a' figliuoli d'Israele, voi non introdurrete questi popoli nellaterra, che io darò loro.
13 This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctified in them.	13 Questa è l'acqua di contraddizione, dove i figliuoli d'Israele altercarono contro ilSignore, ed egli fece conoscere ad essi la sua santità.
14 And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us:	14 Frattanto Mosè spedì da Cades degli ambasciatori al re di Edom, perché gli dicessero: Questecose ti fa sapere Israele tuo fratello: Tu sai tutti i travagli, che abbiam sofferto:
15 How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians vexed us, and our fathers:	15 Come i padri nostri andarono in Egitto e ivi abbiam dimorato per lungo tempo, e gli Egizianistraziaron noi e i padri nostri:
16 And when we cried unto the LORD, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border:	16 E come noi alzammo le voci al Signore, ed egli ci esaudì, e mandò un Angelo a condurci fuordell'Egitto: ecco che adesso trovandoci nella città di Cades, che è agli ultimi tuoiconfini,
17 Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king's highway, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.	17 Preghiam che siaci permesso il passaggio per le tue terre. Noi non cammineremo pe' campi, néper le vigne, non beveremo acqua de' tuoi pozzi, ma anderemo per la pubblica strada senzavolgere né a destra, né a sinistra, fino a tanto che non siamo fuori del tuo dominio.
18 And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.	18 Risposegli Edom: Tu non passerai sul mio, altrimenti verrò armato ad incontrarti.
19 And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing any thing else, go through on my feet.	19 Dissero a lui i figliuoli d'Israele: Noi anderemo per la strada battuta: e se beremo delletue acque noi, e i nostri bestiami, pagheremo quel che è giusto: non saravvi difficoltà sulprezzo, purché abbiamo spedito il transito.
20 And he said, Thou shalt not go through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.	20 Ma quegli rispose: Non passerai. E tosto si mosse contro di essi con infinita moltitudine, egente valorosa:
21 Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him.	21 Ei non volle condescendere alle preghiere, né dare il transito pe' suoi confini. Per la qualcosa Israele girò lontano da lui.
22 And the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, journeyed from Kadesh, and came unto mount Hor.	22 E mosso il campo da Cades giunsero al monte Hor, che è a' confini della terra di Edom:
23 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the coast of the land of Edom, saying,	23 Dove il Signore parlò a Mosè,
24 Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.	24 E disse: Vada Aronne a riunirsi al suo popolo: perocché egli non entrerà nella terra data dame ai figliuoli d'Israele, perché fu incredulo alle mie parole alle acque di contraddizione
25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto mount Hor:	25 Prendi Aronne, e con lui il suo figliuolo, e menali sul monte Hor.
26 And strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered unto his people, and shall die there.	26 E spogliato il padre della sua veste, ne rivestirai il suo figliuolo Eleazaro: Aronne siriunirà (ai padri suoi), e ivi morrà.
27 And Moses did as the LORD commanded: and they went up into mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.	27 Fece Mosè come aveva ordinato il Signore: e salirono al monte Hor, veggendoli tutto ilpopolo.
28 And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son; and Aaron died there in the top of the mount: and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mount.	28 E dopo ch'egli ebbe spogliato Aronne delle sue vesti, ne rivesti Eleazaro suo figliuolo.
29 And when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, they mourned for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.	29 E morto che fu Aronne sulla cima del monte, (Mosè) discese con Eleazaro:
	30 E tutta la moltitudine avendo udito come Aronne era morto, lo piansero in tutte le case pertrenta giorni.
