1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,	1 Yahvé dit à Moïse:
2 Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps.	2 “Fais-toi deux trompettes d’argent. Ces trompettes d’argent martelé serviront pour convoquer la communauté et pour annoncer la levée du camp.
3 And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.	3 Quand on en sonnera, toute la communauté se réunira autour de toi, à l’entrée de la Tente de Réunion.
4 And if they blow but with one trumpet, then the princes, which are heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee.	4 Si l’on ne sonne que d’une trompette, seulement les princes, les chefs des mille, en Israël, se rassembleront autour de toi.
5 When ye blow an alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall go forward.	5 Quand vous sonnerez très fort, ceux qui campent à l’est se mettront en marche.
6 When ye blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys.	6 Quand vous sonnerez très fort pour la seconde fois, ceux qui campent au sud se mettront en marche. On sonnera très fort pour leur départ.
7 But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm.	7 Vous sonnerez aussi pour rassembler la communauté, mais de façon plus discrète.
8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations.	8 Ce sont les fils d’Aaron, les prêtres, qui sonneront les trompettes: ce sera là une loi perpétuelle pour vous et pour vos descendants.
9 And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.	9 Quand, dans votre pays, vous partirez en guerre contre un ennemi qui vous aura attaqués, vous sonnerez des trompettes avec force pour vous rappeler au souvenir de Yahvé votre Dieu, et vous serez délivrés de vos ennemis.
10 Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.	10 Dans vos jours de joie, pour vos fêtes et vos nouvelles lunes, vous sonnerez des trompettes en offrant vos holocaustes et vos sacrifices de communion: elles seront pour vous une façon de vous rappeler à votre Dieu: je suis Yahvé votre Dieu.”
11 And it came to pass on the twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud was taken up from off the tabernacle of the testimony.	11 La seconde année, au vingtième jour du deuxième mois, la nuée s’éleva au-dessus de la Demeure du Témoignage.
12 And the children of Israel took their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Paran.	12 Les Israélites reprirent donc leur marche. Ils quittèrent le désert du Sinaï, et la nuée s’arrêta dans le désert de Paran.
13 And they first took their journey according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.	13 C’est ainsi qu’ils firent leur première étape selon l’ordre que Yahvé avait donné à Moïse.
14 In the first place went the standard of the camp of the children of Judah according to their armies: and over his host was Nahshon the son of Amminadab.	14 Le drapeau du camp des fils de Juda partit le premier, suivi des troupes. La troupe de Juda avait à sa tête Nachon, fils d’Aminadab.
15 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethaneel the son of Zuar.	15 La troupe de la tribu des fils d’Issacar avait à sa tête Nétanéel, fils de Souar.
16 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.	16 La troupe de la tribu des fils de Zabulon avait à sa tête Éliab, fils de Hélon.
17 And the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set forward, bearing the tabernacle.	17 C’est alors qu’on démonta la Demeure et les fils de Guerchon partirent avec les fils de Mérari qui portaient la Demeure.
18 And the standard of the camp of Reuben set forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elizur the son of Shedeur.	18 Le drapeau du camp de Ruben partit ensuite, suivi de ses troupes. La troupe avait à sa tête Élisour, fils de Chédéour.
19 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.	19 La troupe de la tribu des fils de Siméon avait à sa tête Cheloumiel, fils de Surichaddaï.
20 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Deuel.	20 La troupe de la tribu des fils de Gad avait à sa tête Éliasaf, fils de Réouel.
21 And the Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and the other did set up the tabernacle against they came.	21 Les Kahatites partirent ensuite, emportant les objets sacrés (on devait avoir dressé la Tente avant leur arrivée).
22 And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elishama the son of Ammihud.	22 Le drapeau du camp des fils d’Éphraïm partit ensuite, suivi de ses troupes. Élichama, fils d’Ammihoud, était à la tête de la troupe d’Éphraïm.
23 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.	23 La troupe de la tribu des fils de Manassé était commandée par Gamliel, fils de Pedahsur.
24 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni.	24 La troupe de la tribu des fils de Benjamin avait à sa tête Abidan, fils de Gidéoni.
25 And the standard of the camp of the children of Dan set forward, which was the rereward of all the camps throughout their hosts: and over his host was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.	25 Le drapeau du camp des fils de Dan partit le dernier de tous les camps, suivi de ses troupes. À la tête de sa troupe était Ahiézer, fils d’Amichaddaï.
26 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ocran.	26 La troupe de la tribu des fils d’Asher avait à sa tête Pagiel, fils d’Okran.
27 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Ahira the son of Enan.	27 La troupe des fils de Nephtali avait à sa tête Ahira, fils d’Énan.
28 Thus were the journeyings of the children of Israel according to their armies, when they set forward.	28 Voilà, troupe par troupe, l’ordre de marche des Israélites lorsqu’ils partirent.
29 And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses' father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.	29 Moïse dit à Hobab, fils de Réouel le Madianite, son beau-père: “Nous partons pour le lieu que Yahvé a promis de nous donner: viens donc avec nous! Nous te traiterons bien, car Yahvé a promis de faire du bien à Israël.
30 And he said unto him, I will not go; but I will depart to mine own land, and to my kindred.	30 Hobab lui répondit: “Je n’irai pas avec vous, je vais retourner dans mon pays et dans ma famille.”
31 And he said, Leave us not, I pray thee; forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.	31 Moïse lui dit: “Ne nous quitte pas, je te prie! Tu connais les lieux où nous devrons camper dans le désert, tu seras notre œil!
32 And it shall be, if thou go with us, yea, it shall be, that what goodness the LORD shall do unto us, the same will we do unto thee.	32 Si tu viens avec nous, tu auras ta part de tout le bien que Yahvé nous fera.”
33 And they departed from the mount of the LORD three days' journey: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days' journey, to search out a resting place for them.	33 Partis de la montagne de Yahvé, ils marchèrent trois jours, et durant ces trois jours de marche, l’Arche de l’Alliance de Yahvé s’avançait devant eux pour leur trouver un lieu de repos.
34 And the cloud of the LORD was upon them by day, when they went out of the camp.	34 La nuée de Yahvé était au-dessus d’eux pendant le jour, lorsqu’ils levaient le camp.
35 And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee.	35 Lorsque l’Arche partait, Moïse disait: “Lève-toi, Yahvé! Que tes ennemis se dispersent, que ceux qui te haïssent fuient devant toi!”
36 And when it rested, he said, Return, O LORD, unto the many thousands of Israel.	36 Et lorsqu’elle s’arrêtait, il disait: “Reviens Yahvé, vers les myriades d’Israël.”
