Amos 3

1 Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,	1 Ascoltate, o figliuoli di Israele, la parola detta dal Signore sopra di voi, sopra tutta quella famiglia tratta da lui dal paese d'Egitto. Egli dice:
2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.	2 Voi soli ho io conosciuti di tutte le famiglie della terra, per questo io vi punirò di tutte le vostre iniquità.
3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?	3 Posson elleno andar insieme due persone, se non son daccordo tra loro?
4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?	4 Ruggisce forse il lione, quand' egli non trova preda? e il giovane lioncello alzerà forse le grida dalla sua tana, senza ch'ei prenda qualche cosa?
5 Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?	5 Caderà forse nei laccio sopra la terra un uccello, senza l'opera dell'uccellatore? Si toglie forse di terra il laccio prima chè abbia fatta sua preda?
6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?	6 Suonerà ella la tromba nella città, senza che il popolo si commuova? Vi sarà egli disastro nella città, che non sia opera del Signore?
7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.	7 Perocché il Signore Dio non fa queste cose, senza rivelare i suoi segreti a profeti suoi servi.
8 The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?	8 Rugge il lione: chi sarà senza paura? Il Signore Dio ha parlato: chi riterrassi dal profetare?
9 Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.	9 Fate sapere alle case di Azoto, e alle case del paese di Egitto, e dite: Ragunatevi sulle montagne di Samaria, e osservate le molte strane cose, che sono in mezzo a lei, e le oppressioni, che si commettono dentro di lei.
10 For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.	10 Non han saputo quel, che si fosse il far giustizia, dice il Signore: hanno adunato tesoro di iniquità, e di rapine nelle loro case.
11 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.	11 Per questo dice il Signore Dio: Sarà percossa tutta intorno la terra, e sarà tolta a te la tua fortezza, e le tue case saran saccheggiate.
12 Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.	12 Queste cose dice il Signore: Come se un pastore tolga di bocca al lione due stinchi, o un pezzo d'orecchio, così saranno salvati i figliuoli d'Israele, che abitano in Samaria in un angolo di letto, e nel letto di Damasco.
13 Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,	13 Udite, e fatene protesta alla casa di Giacobbe, dice il Signore Dio degli eserciti;
14 That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.	14 Imperocché in quel giorno, quand'io comincerò a punire le prevaricazioni d'Israele, punirò lui, e gli altari di Bethel; e saran troncate le corna dell'altare, e anderanno per terra.
15 And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.	15 E atterrerò i palazzi d'inverno co' palazzi d'estate, e anderanno in rovina e case di avorio, e saran distrutte le case in gran numero, dice il Signore.
