Hosea 13

1 When Ephraim spake trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.	1 Cuando hablaba Efraím cundía el terror, él se había encumbrado en Israel, pero se hizo culpable a causa de Baal y murió.
2 And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.	2 Ahora siguen pecando: se fabrican estatuas de metal fundido, hacen con su plata ídolos de su invención. ¡Obra de artesanos es todo eso! Luego dicen: «Ofrézcanles sacrificios». ¡Hombres besan a terneros!
3 Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the early dew that passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney.	3 Por eso serán como nube de la mañana, como rocío que pronto se disipa, como paja aventada lejos de la era, como humo que sale por la ventana.
4 Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.	4 Pero yo soy el Señor, tu Dios, desde el país de Egipto: no conoces a otro Dios más que a mí, y fuera de mí no hay salvador.
5 I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.	5 Yo te conocí en el desierto, en la tierra de la aridez.
6 According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.	6 Al llegar a sus campos de pastoreo, ellos se saciaron; y una vez saciados, se enorgulleció su corazón;: por eso se olvidaron de mí.
7 Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:	7 Yo seré para ellos como un león, como un leopardo estaré al acecho junto al camino;
8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.	8 los atacaré como una osa privada de su cría, desgarraré las fibras de su corazón, los devoraré allí mismo como una leona, y las fieras los destrozarán.
9 O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.	9 ¡Ahí estás maltrecho, Israel! ¿Quién podrá socorrerte?
10 I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?	10 ¿Dónde está tu rey, para salvarte, y tus jueces, para defenderte, aquellos de los que decías: «Dame un rey y príncipes»?
11 I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath.	11 En mi ira, yo te di un rey y en mi furor, te lo quitaré.
12 The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid.	12 La iniquidad de Efraím está guardada bajo sello, su pecado, escondido en lugar seguro.
13 The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children.	13 Llegan los dolores del parto para que él nazca, pero es un hijo que no se da maña: ¡llegada la hora, no atina a salir del seno materno!
14 I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.	14 ¿Y yo voy a rescatarlos del poder del Abismo? ¿Voy a redimirlos de la muerte? ¿Dónde está, Muerte, tu pestilencia? ¿Dónde están tus plagas, Abismo? La compasión se oculta a mis ojos.
15 Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.	15 Por más que Efraím prosperes entre sus hermanos, llegará el viento del este, el soplo del Señor, que sube del desierto, y se agotará su fuente, se secará su manantial. El despojará el tesoro de todos los objetos preciosos.
16 Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
