Sirach 21

KING JAMES BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 My son, hast thou sinned? do so no more, but ask pardon for thy former sins.	1 ¿Has pecado, hijo mío? No lo vuelvas a hacer, y pide perdón por tus faltas pasadas.
2 Flee from sin as from the face of a serpent: for if thou comest too near it, it will bite thee: the teeth thereof are as the teeth of a lion, slaying the souls of men.	2 Huye del pecado como de una serpiente, porque si te acercas,, te morderá; sus dientes son dientes de león, que arrebatan la vida de los hombres.
3 All iniquity is as a two edged sword, the wounds whereof cannot be healed.	3 Toda transgresión es como espada de dos filos: no hay remedio para su herida.
4 To terrify and do wrong will waste riches: thus the house of proud men shall be made desolate.	4 La violencia y la soberbia hacen perder las riquezas: así será arrasada la casa del orgulloso.
5 A prayer out of a poor man's mouth reacheth to the ears of God, and his judgment cometh speedily.	5 La oración del pobre va de su boca a los oídos del Señor, y la sentencia divina no se hace esperar.
6 He that hateth to be reproved is in the way of sinners: but he that feareth the Lord will repent from his heart.	6 El que odia la reprensión sigue las huellas del pecador, pero el que teme al Señor se arrepiente de corazón.
7 An eloquent man is known far and near; but a man of understanding knoweth when he slippeth.	7 Al charlatán se lo reconoce desde lejos, el hombre reflexivo le descubre sus deslices.
8 He that buildeth his house with other men's money is like one that gathereth himself stones for the tomb of his burial.	8 El que edifica su casa con dinero ajeno es como el que amontona piedras para el invierno.
9 The congregation of the wicked is like tow wrapped together: and the end of them is a flame of fire to destroy them.	9 Una banda de malhechores es como un montón de estopa, y su fin es la llama del fuego.
10 The way of sinners is made plain with stones, but at the end thereof is the pit of hell.	10 El camino de los pecadores está despejado de piedras, pero desemboca en lo profundo del Abismo.
11 He that keepeth the law of the Lord getteth the understanding thereof: and the perfection of the fear of the Lord is wisdom.	11 El que observa la Ley domina sus inclinaciones, y el temor del Señor es la culminación de la sabiduría.
12 He that is not wise will not be taught: but there is a wisdom which multiplieth bitterness.	12 El que no es habilidoso no puede aprender, pero hay una habilidad que produce amargura.
13 The knowledge of a wise man shall abound like a flood: and his counsel is like a pure fountain of life.	13 La ciencia del sabio crece como una inundación y su consejo es como fuente de vida.
14 The inner parts of a fool are like a broken vessel, and he will hold no knowledge as long as he liveth.	14 La mente del necio es como un vaso roto: no retiene ningún conocimiento.
15 If a skilful man hear a wise word, he will commend it, and add unto it: but as soon as one of no understanding heareth it, it displeaseth him, and he casteth it behind his back.	15 Si un hombre instruido oye una palabra sabia, la aprueba y le añade algo de lo suyo; si la oye un alocado, le desagrada, y la echa detrás de sus espaldas.
16 The talking of a fool is like a burden in the way: but grace shall be found in the lips of the wise.	16 La conversación del necio es como una carga para el viajero, pero los labios del inteligente causan deleite.
17 They enquire at the mouth of the wise man in the congregation, and they shall ponder his words in their heart.	17 La opinión del prudente es requerida en la asamblea, y todos reflexionan sobre sus palabras.
18 As is a house that is destroyed, so is wisdom to a fool: and the knowledge of the unwise is as talk without sense.	18 Como una casa derruida es la sabiduría para el necio, y la ciencia del insensato es una serie de incoherencias.
19 Doctrine unto fools is as fetters on the feet, and like manacles on the right hand.	19 La instrucción es para el tonto como un cepo en los pies y como esposas en su mano derecha.
20 A fool lifteth up his voice with laughter; but a wise man doth scarce smile a little.	20 El necio se ríe a carcajadas, pero el hombre sagaz sonríe apenas y sin estrépito.
21 Learning is unto a wise man as an ornament of gold, and like a bracelet upon his right arm.	21 La instrucción es para el prudente como un adorno de oro y como un brazalete en el brazo derecho.
22 A foolish man's foot is soon in his [neighbour's] house: but a man of experience is ashamed of him.	22 El pie del necio entra rápido en la casa, pero el hombre experimentado se acerca con vergüenza.
23 A fool will peep in at the door into the house: but he that is well nurtured will stand without.	23 El necio curiosea la casa desde la puerta, pero el bien educado se queda afuera.
24 It is the rudeness of a man to hearken at the door: but a wise man will be grieved with the disgrace.	24 Es falta de educación escuchar junto a la puerta: al prudente se le caería la cara de vergüenza.
25 The lips of talkers will be telling such things as pertain not unto them: but the words of such as have understanding are weighed in the balance.	25 Los labios de los charlatanes hablan sólo de oídas, pero los prudentes pesan bien sus palabras.
26 The heart of fools is in their mouth: but the mouth of the wise is in their heart.	26 Los necios hablan siempre sin pensar; los sabios piensan, y luego hablan.
27 When the ungodly curseth Satan, he curseth his own soul.	27 Cuando el impío maldice al adversario, se maldice a sí mismo.
28 A whisperer defileth his own soul, and is hated wheresoever he dwelleth.	28 El chismoso se mancha a sí mismo, y es detestado por lo que lo rodean.
