Proverbs 9

1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:	1 A sabedoria edificou para si uma casa, levantou sete colunas. Imolou as suas vitimas, preparou o vinho, pôs a sua mesa.
2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,	3 Enviou as suas criadas a fazer o convite dos pontos mais altos da cidade:
4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,	4 Todo o que é simples, venha a mim. Aos insensatos disse: Vinde, comei o pão que eu vos dou, bebei o vinho que vos preparei.
5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.	6 Deixai as ninharias, e vivereis (felizes), e progredireis pelos caminhos da prudência. Aquele que corrige o mofador, atraí o escárnio sobre si, e aquele que repreende o ímpio, arrisca-se a (sofrer) um ultraje.
7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.	8 Não repreendas o mofador, para que ele te não odeie. Repreende o sábio, e ele te amará.
9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.	9 Dá ao sábio ocasião (de aprender), e se lhe acrescentará sabedoria: ensina ao justo, e ele aumentará o seu saber.
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.	10 O princípio da sabedoria é o temor do Senhor, e o conhecimento do Santo (Deus) é a inteligência.
11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.	11 Por mim se multiplicarão os teus dias, e serão acrescentados anos de vida.
12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.	12 Se fores sábio, para teu proveito o serás; se fores mofador. só tu experimentarás o mal.
13 A foolish woman is clamourous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.	13 A Senhora Loucura é irrequieta. é uma estulta que nada sabe (senão seduzir).
14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,	14 Assentou-se à porta de sua casa, sobre uma cadeira, num lugar alto da cidade,
15 To call passengers who go right on their ways:	15 para chamar os que passavam pela estrada, e que iam andando o seu caminho, (dizendo):
16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,	16 O que é simples venha cá. E ao insensato disse:
17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.	17 As águas furtivas são mais doces. e o pão tomado às escondidas é mais gostoso.
18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.	18 Ele ignora que lá (na casa da Loucura) há sombras (da morte) e que os seus convidados estão nas profundezas do inferno.
