KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:1 A plaintive song of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, the Benjaminite.
Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.2 LORD my God, in you I take refuge; rescue me; save me from all who pursue me,
O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;3 Lest they maul me like lions, tear me to pieces with none to save.
If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)4 LORD my God, if I am at fault in this, if there is guilt on my hands,
Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.5 If I have repaid my friend with evil-- I spared even those who hated me without cause--
Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.6 Then let my enemy pursue and overtake me, trample my life to the ground, and leave me dishonored in the dust.Selah
So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.7 Rise up, LORD, in your anger; rise against the fury of my foes. Wake to judge as you have decreed.
The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.8 Have the assembly of the peoples gather about you; sit on your throne high above them,
Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.9 O LORD, judge of the nations. Grant me justice, LORD, for I am blameless, free of any guilt.
My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.10 Bring the malice of the wicked to an end; uphold the innocent, O God of justice, who tries hearts and minds.
God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.11 A shield before me is God who saves the honest heart.
If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.12 God is a just judge, who rebukes in anger every day.
He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.13 If sinners do not repent, God sharpens his sword, strings and readies the bow,
Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.14 Prepares his deadly shafts, makes arrows blazing thunderbolts.
He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.15 Sinners conceive iniquity; pregnant with mischief, they give birth to failure.
His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.16 They open a hole and dig it deep, but fall into the pit they have dug.
I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.17 Their mischief comes back upon themselves; their violence falls on their own heads.
I praise the justice of the LORD; I celebrate the name of the LORD Most High.
