1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,	1 Il Signore disse a Mosè:
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baal-zephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.	2 "Di' ai figli d'Israele di ritornare e di accamparsi di fronte a Pi-Achirot, tra Migdol e il mare, di fronte a Baal-Zefon: vi accamperete davanti a quel luogo, ai bordi del mare.
3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.	3 Il faraone penserà dei figli d'Israele: "Vagano qua e là nel paese; il deserto si è chiuso su di loro".
4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.	4 E indurirò il cuore del faraone e li inseguirà, e io prenderò gloria dal faraone e da tutto il suo esercito, e l'Egitto saprà che io sono il Signore". Essi fecero così.
5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?	5 Fu annunciato al re d'Egitto che il popolo era fuggito, e il cuore del faraone e dei suoi servi si rivoltò verso il popolo e dissero: "Perché abbiamo fatto questo: mandar via Israele dal nostro servizio?".
6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:	6 Fece preparare il suo carro e prese con sé il suo popolo.
7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.	7 Prese seicento carri scelti e tutti i carri d'Egitto, con il terzo uomo su ognuno di quelli.
8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.	8 Il Signore indurì il cuore del faraone, re d'Egitto, e questi inseguì i figli d'Israele; i figli d'Israele uscirono con mano alta.
9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi-hahiroth, before Baal-zephon.	9 Gli Egiziani li inseguirono e li raggiunsero quando erano accampati presso il mare, a Pi-Achirot, davanti a Baal-Zefon: tutti i cavalli, i carri del faraone, i suoi cavalieri e il suo esercito.
10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.	10 Il faraone si avvicinava: i figli d'Israele alzarono gli occhi, ed ecco gli Egiziani si muovevano dietro a loro! I figli d'Israele ebbero molta paura e gridarono al Signore.
11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?	11 Dissero a Mosè: "Eravamo forse senza tombe in Egitto, per portarci a morire nel deserto? Perché hai fatto questo, di farci uscire dall'Egitto?
12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.	12 Non era forse questo che ti dicevamo in Egitto: lasciaci stare a lavorare in Egitto, perché è meglio per noi lavorare in Egitto che morire nel deserto?".
13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.	13 Mosè disse al popolo: "Non temete: siate saldi e vedrete la salvezza che il Signore opera per voi oggi: poiché gli Egiziani che vedete oggi non li vedrete mai più.
14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.	14 Il Signore combatterà per voi e voi sarete tranquilli".
15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:	15 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Perché gridi verso di me? Di' ai figli d'Israele di partire.
16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.	16 Tu alza il tuo bastone e stendi la tua mano sopra il mare e si separi, e i figli d'Israele passino in mezzo al mare all'asciutto.
17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.	17 Ecco: io indurisco il cuore degli Egiziani: li seguiranno e io trarrò gloria dal faraone, da tutto il suo esercito, i suoi carri e i suoi cavalieri,
18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.	18 e l'Egitto saprà che io sono il Signore, quando trarrò gloria dal faraone, dai suoi carri e cavalieri".
19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:	19 L'angelo di Dio, che precedeva l'accampamento d'Israele, si mosse e andò dietro a loro, e anche la colonna di nube si mosse dal davanti e passò dietro:
20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.	20 venne così tra l'accampamento degli Egiziani e l'accampamento d'Israele. La nube era oscura per gli uni, mentre per gli altri illuminava la notte: e tutta la notte non ci si avvicinò l'uno all'altro.
21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.	21 Mosè stese la sua mano sopra il mare e il Signore sospinse il mare con un forte vento dell'est tutta la notte e mise a secco il mare. Il mare si divise.
22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.	22 I figli d'Israele vennero in mezzo al mare all'asciutto e l'acqua era per loro un muro a destra e a sinistra.
23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.	23 Gli Egiziani inseguirono, e tutti i cavalli del faraone, i suoi carri, i suoi cavalieri giunsero dietro a loro in mezzo al mare.
24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,	24 Nella veglia del mattino il Signore guardò l'accampamento egiziano attraverso la colonna di fuoco e la nube, e mise la confusione nell'accampamento egiziano.
25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.	25 Frenò le ruote dei loro carri, per cui guidavano a fatica. Gli Egiziani dissero: "Fuggiamo davanti a Israele, perché il Signore combatte per loro contro l'Egitto".
26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.	26 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Stendi la tua mano sopra il mare e l'acqua torni sugli Egiziani, sui loro carri e sui loro cavalieri".
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.	27 Mosè stese la sua mano sul mare: verso il mattino, il mare tornò al suo posto consueto, gli Egiziani fuggirono di fronte ad esso e il Signore travolse gli Egiziani nel mezzo del mare.
28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.	28 L'acqua ritornò e coprì i carri, i cavalieri e tutto l'esercito del faraone che veniva dietro a loro nel mare: di loro non ne restò neppure uno.
29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.	29 Invece i figli d'Israele avevano camminato all'asciutto in mezzo al mare e l'acqua fu per loro un muro a destra e a sinistra.
30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.	30 Quel giorno il Signore salvò Israele dalla mano dell'Egitto e Israele vide gli Egiziani morti ai bordi del mare.
31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.	31 Israele vide la grande potenza che il Signore aveva usato contro l'Egitto e il popolo temette il Signore e credette a lui e a Mosè, suo servo.
