1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,	1 - Parlò ancora il Signore a Mosè, e disse:
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baal-zephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.	2 «Parla ai figli di Israele. Tornino indietro e s'accampino dinanzi a Fiairot, tra Magdalum ed il mare, di fronte a Beelsefon; vi accamperete di faccia a questo, sul mare.
3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.	3 Il Faraone dirà de' figli d'Israele: - Sono smarriti in quella regione, ed il deserto chiude loro la strada. -
4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.	4 Indurerò il suo cuore ed egli v'inseguirà; ma io trarrò gloria dal Faraone e da tutto il suo esercito, e gli Egiziani sapranno ch' io sono il Signore». E così fecero.
5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?	5 E fu annunziato al re degli Egiziani che il popolo ebreo era fuggito. Il cuore del Faraone e dei suoi ministri si cambiò a riguardo di quel popolo, e dissero: «Che abbiamo noi fatto con lasciar andar Israele, così che più non ci serve?».
6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:	6 Fece dunque attaccare il suo carro, e prese con sè tutte le sue schiere.
7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.	7 Prese seicento carri scelti, quanti carri potè trovare in Egitto, ed i capi di tutto l'esercito.
8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.	8 Il Signore indurò il cuore del Faraone re dell'Egitto, che inseguì i figli d'Israele; ma essi eran partiti aiutati da una mano suprema.
9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi-hahiroth, before Baal-zephon.	9 Procedendo gli Egiziani sulle orme de' fuggitivi, li raggiunsero così accampati lungo il mare; tutta la cavalleria ed i carri del Faraone, e tutto il suo esercito giunsero in Fiairot di fronte a Beelsefon.
10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.	10 Avvicinandosi il Faraone, i figli di Israele girando lo sguardo si videro gli Egiziani alle spalle; ebbero gran paura, gridarono al Signore,
11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?	11 e dissero a Mosè: «Mancavan forse sepolcri in Egitto, che ci hai condotti a morire nel deserto? Che hai tu voluto fare conducendoci via dall'Egitto?
12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.	12 Non è proprio questo che ti dicevamo in Egitto: - Lasciaci stare che seguiteremo a servire agli Egiziani?- Certo, era molto meglio a servire a loro, che morir nel deserto».
13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.	13 E Mosè disse al popolo: «Non abbiate paura; state fermi, e vedete le cose grandi che il Signore farà oggi; in verità, quegli Egiziani che ora vedete, non li vedrete mai più in eterno.
14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.	14 Il Signore combatterà per voi; e voi, tacete».
15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:	15 Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Perchè gridi a me? Ordina a' figli di Israele che si mettano in cammino.
16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.	16 Tu, poi, leva la tua verga, stendi la tua mano sul mare, e dividilo, così che i figli d'Israele vi passino per mezzo all'asciutto.
17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.	17 Io indurerò il cuore degli Egiziani, così che v'inseguiranno; e trarrò gloria dal Faraone da tutto il suo esercito, da' suoi carri e da' suoi cavalieri.
18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.	18 Ed impareranno gli Egiziani ch'io sono il Signore, quando mi sarò reso glorioso sul Faraone, sui carri e sui cavalieri di lui».
19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:	19 L'angelo di Dio che precedeva le schiere di Israele, si mosse, e si mise dietro a loro; insieme con lui, la colonna di nubi lasciò del pari la prima linea, e si mise in fondo,
20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.	20 tra le schiere degli Egiziani e quelle d'Israele. Quella nube era oscura da una parte, e dall'altra illuminava la notte; così, per tutta la notte, non poterono gli Egiziani avanzarsi verso gli Israeliti.
21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.	21 Avendo poi Mosè stesa la mano verso il mare, il Signore lo asciugò, facendo soffiare per tutta la notte un vento forte caldissimo, e lo ridusse all'asciutto. Le acque poi si eran divise.
22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.	22 Ed i figli di Israele entrarono in mezzo all'asciutto mare, formando l'acqua come un muro a destra ed a sinistra di loro.
23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.	23 Gli Egiziani, inseguendoli entrarono in mezzo al mare dietro a loro; tutta la cavalleria del Faraone, i carri e i cavalieri di lui.
24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,	24 Già s'era alla veglia del mattino, e rivoltosi il Signore dalla colonna di nube e di fuoco verso le schiere degli Egiziani, sbaragliò il loro esercito,
25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.	25 fece incagliare le ruote dei loro carri che restavano arenate sul fondo. Dissero dunque gli Egiziani: «Salviamoci da Israele; il Signore combatte contro di noi, in loro favore».
26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.	26 Ma il Signore disse a Mosè: «Stendi la mano sul mare, acciò l'acque ritornino ove sono gli Egiziani, sui loro carri e cavalieri».
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.	27 Avendo dunque Mosè di primo mattino, stesa la mano verso il mare, questo ritornò al suo luogo; le acque si rovesciarono sugli Egiziani che fuggivano, ed il Signore li travolse in mezzo alle onde.
28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.	28 Le acque ritornarono, e sommersero i carri ed i cavalieri di tutto l'esercito del Faraone, che per inseguire gli ebrei erano entrati nel mare; neppur uno se ne salvò.
29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.	29 Invece, i figli d' Israele passarono per mezzo all'asciutto mare, e le acque stavano a destra ed a sinistra di loro, come una muraglia.
30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.	30 In quel giorno, il Signore liberò Israele dalle mani degli Egiziani.
31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.	31 Vedendo sulla spiaggia del mare i cadaveri degli Egiziani, e la potenza grande che il Signore aveva esercitata contro di essi, il popolo temè il Signore, e credettero al Signore ed a Mosè suo servo.
