1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,	1 E il Signore parlò a Mosè, e disse:
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baal-zephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.	2 Di' a' figliuoli d'Israele, che tornino indietro, e pongano gli alloggiamenti dirimpetito a Phihahiroth, la quale è tra Magdalum, e il mare dirimpetto a Beelsephon: in faccia a questo luogo porrete gli alloggiamenti lungo il mare.
3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.	3 E Faraone dirà dei figliuoli d'Israele: Sono in paese angusto, sono serrati nel deserto.
4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.	4 E indurerò il cuore di lui e v'inseguirà: e io trarrò gloria da Faraone, e da tutto il suo esercito: e conosceranno gli Egiziani, ch'io sono il Signore. E quelli fecer così.
5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?	5 E fu recato avviso al re degli Egiziani, come il popolo fuggiva: e si cangiò il cuore di Faraone, e de' suoi servi verso del popolo, e dissero: Che è quello, che noi ci siamo indotti a fare lasciando, che sen vada Israele, e a noi più non serva?
6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:	6 Fece egli pertanto mettere i cavalli al suo cocchio, e prese seco tutto il suo popolo.
7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.	7 E prese secento cocchi scelti, e tutti gli altri cocchi, che si trovarono nell'Egitto, e i capitani di tutto l'esercito.
8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.	8 E il Signore indurò il cuore di Faraone re d'Egitto, ed egli inseguì i figliuoli d'Israele: ma questi erano partiti con gran fidanza.
9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi-hahiroth, before Baal-zephon.	9 E seguendo gli Egiziani le orme già segnate da quelli, li trovarono alloggiati lungo il mare. Tutta la cavalleria, e i cocchi di Faraone, e tutto l'esercito erano a Phihahiroth dirimpetto a Beelsephon.
10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.	10 E appressandosi Faraone, i figliuoli d'Israele alzando gli occhi si videro alle spalle gli Egiziani: ed ebbero paura grande, e alzarono le grida al Signore.
11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?	11 E dissero a Mosè: Mancavan forse sepolture in Egitto, che tu ci hai tratti di colà, affinché morissimo nella solitudine? Per qual motivo hai tu voluto far questa cosa di cavarci dall’Egitto?
12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.	12 Non è egli questo quel che a te noi dicevamo nell'Egitto: Lascia, che noi serviamo agli Egiziani? conciossiaché molto meglio era il servire ad essi, che il morire nella solitudine.
13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.	13 E disse Mosè al popolo: Non temete: state ad osservare i prodigii, che farà oggi il Signore: perocché gli Egiziani, che voi ora vedete, non li vedrete mai più in eterno.
14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.	14 Il Signore combatterà per voi, e voi non vi moverete.
15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:	15 E il Signore disse a Mosè: Perché alzi a me le grida? di' a' figliuoli d'Israele, che si mettano in viaggio.
16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.	16 E tu alza la tua verga, e stendi la tua mano sopra il mare, e dividilo: affinché i figliuoli d'Israele camminino per mezzo al mare a piedi asciutti.
17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.	17 E io indurerò il cuore degli Egiziani, perché vi perseguano: e sarò glorificato nello sterminio di Faraone, e di tutto il suo esercito, e de' suoi cocchi, e de' suoi cavalieri.
18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.	18 E gli Egiziani conosceranno, ch'io sono il Signore, quando avrò fatto servire alla mia gloria Faraone, e i suoi cocchi, e i suoi cavalli.
19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:	19 E si levò l'Angelo del Signore, che precedeva l'esercito d'Israele, e si pose alle loro spalle: e insieme con esso la colonna di nube, lasciata la parte anteriore,
20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.	20 Si posò nel fondo tra gli alloggiamenti degli Egiziani, e gli alloggiamenti d'Israele: e quella nube era tenebrosa, e insieme rischiarava la notte, talmente che non poterono per tutto il tempo della notte appressarsi gli uni agli altri.
21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.	21 E avendo Mosè stesa la mano sul mare, il Signore lo portò via, soffiando un vento gagliardo, e ardente per tutta la notte, e lo asciugò: e l'acqua restò scompartita.
22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.	22 E i figliuoli d'Israele entrarono in mezzo al mare asciutto: perocché l'acqua era come muro alla loro destra, e alla sinistra.
23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.	23 E gli Egiziani inseguendogli entrarono dietro a loro nel mezzo del mare, e tutta la cavalleria di Faraone, e i suoi cocchi, e i cavalieri.
24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,	24 Ed era già la vigilia del mattino, allorché traguardando il Signore dalla colonna di nube e di fuoco l'esercito degli Egiziani fece perire le loro schiere:
25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.	25 E rovesciò le ruote dei cocchi ed egli no furono trasportati nel (mar) profondo. Dissero adunque gli Egiziani: Fuggiamo Israele: perocché il Signore combatte per lui contro di noi.
26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.	26 E il Signore disse a Mosè: Stendi la tua mano sul mare, affinché le acque tornino a riunirsi sopra gli Egiziani, sopra i cocchi, e sopra i lor cavalieri.
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.	27 E avendo Mosè stesa la mano verso il mare, questo tornò al luogo di prima al primo spuntare del giorno: e le acque andaron sopra gli Egiziani, che fuggivano, e gl'involse il Signore in mezzo a' flutti.
28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.	28 E le acque ripreso il loro corso ricopersero i cocchi, e i cavalieri di tutto l'esercito di Faraone, i quali inseguendo gl'Israeliti erano entrati nel mare: neppur uno di quelli si salvò.
29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.	29 Ma i figliuoli d'Israele si avanzarono pel mezzo del mare asciutto: e le acque eran per essi qual muro a destra e a sinistra:
30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.	30 E il Signore liberò in quel giorno Israele dalle mani degli Egiziani.
31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.	31 E videro gli Egiziani morti sul lido del mare, e la possanza grande dimostrata dal Signore contro di essi: e il popolo temé il Signore, e credettero al Signore, e a Mosè suo servo.
