1 Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem.	1 Il popolo del paese prese Ioacaz, figlio di Giosia, e lo proclamò re in Gerusalemme al posto di suo padre.
2 Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.	2 Quando divenne re Ioacaz aveva ventitré anni; regnò tre mesi in Gerusalemme.
3 And the king of Egypt put him down at Jerusalem, and condemned the land in an hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.	3 Il re d'Egitto lo destituì in Gerusalemme ed impose al paese un contributo di cento talenti d'argento e di un talento d'oro.
4 And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and turned his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.	4 Quindi il re d'Egitto costituì re sulla Giudea e su Gerusalemme suo fratello, Eliakìm, cui cambiò il nome in Ioiakìm. Quanto a suo fratello Ioacaz, Necao lo prese e lo condusse in Egitto.
5 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.	5 Quando Ioiakìm divenne re, aveva venticinque anni; regnò undici anni in Gerusalemme. Fece ciò che è male al cospetto del Signore, suo Dio.
6 Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.	6 Contro di lui marciò Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, il quale lo legò con catene di bronzo per condurlo in Babilonia.
7 Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the LORD to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.	7 Anche una parte degli oggetti del tempio del Signore Nabucodònosor l'asportò in Babilonia, deponendola nella sua reggia in Babilonia.
8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.	8 Il resto degli atti di Ioiakìm, le abominazioni che commise e ciò che gli si può imputare sono descritti nel libro dei re d'Israele e di Giuda. 9 Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.	9 Quando divenne re, Ioiachìn aveva diciotto anni; regnò in Gerusalemme tre mesi e dieci giorni e fece ciò che è male al cospetto del Signore.
10 And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.	10 All'inizio del nuovo anno il re Nabucodònosor inviò a prenderlo e lo fece condurre a Babilonia insieme agli oggetti preziosi del tempio del Signore. Egli nominò re su Giuda e su Gerusalemme Sedecia, suo fratello.
11 Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.	11 Quando divenne re, Sedecia aveva ventun anni; regnò undici anni in Gerusalemme;
12 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God, and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of the LORD.	12 fece ciò che è male al cospetto del Signore, suo Dio. Non si umiliò davanti al profeta Geremia, interprete del Signore.
13 And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from turning unto the LORD God of Israel.	13 Osò persino ribellarsi contro il re Nabucodònosor, che gli aveva fatto giurare fedeltà in nome di Dio. Irrigidì la sua cervice e si ostinò nel suo cuore senza far ritorno al Signore, Dio d'Israele.
14 Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.	14 Anche tutti i capi di Giuda, i sacerdoti e il popolo moltiplicarono le loro infedeltà conformandosi a tutte le abominazioni delle genti e contaminarono il tempio che il Signore si era consacrato in Gerusalemme.
15 And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:	15 Il Signore, Dio dei loro padri, mandò sin dall'inizio e senza posa i suoi messaggeri ad avvertirli, perché aveva compassione del suo popolo e della sua dimora,
16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.	16 ma essi schernirono i messaggeri di Dio, disprezzarono le loro parole e si burlarono dei suoi profeti, finché la collera del Signore contro il suo popolo raggiunse un punto in cui non c'era più rimedio.
17 Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand.	17 Allora il Signore fece marciare contro di loro il re dei Caldei, il quale uccise di spada i loro giovani all'interno del santuario, senza avere pietà per i giovani, le vergini, i vecchi, e le teste canute. Il Signore consegnò ogni cosa in suo potere.
18 And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.	18 Tutti gli oggetti del tempio di Dio, i grandi e i piccoli, i tesori del tempio del Signore e i tesori del re e dei suoi prìncipi, tutto fu portato in Babilonia.
19 And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.	19 Il tempio di Dio fu dato alle fiamme, le mura di Gerusalemme furono abbattute, tutti i suoi palazzi furono consumati dal fuoco, tutti i suoi oggetti preziosi furono destinati alla distruzione.
20 And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:	20 Nabucodònosor deportò in Babilonia quelli che erano sopravvissuti alla spada; essi divennero schiavi suoi e dei suoi figli fino all'avvento del regno persiano.
21 To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.	21 Così si compiva la parola del Signore predetta da Geremia: "Finché il paese non abbia scontato i suoi sabati, esso riposerà durante tutto il tempo della desolazione fino al termine di settant'anni".
22 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,	22 Nel primo anno di Ciro, re di Persia, in adempimento della parola del Signore, pronunciata da Geremia, il Signore suscitò lo spirito di Ciro, re di Persia. Egli fece proclamare per tutto il suo regno, a voce e per iscritto: "
23 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.	23 Così parla Ciro, re di Persia: Il Signore, il Dio dei cieli, ha dato in mio potere tutti i regni della terra; egli stesso mi ha incaricato di costruirgli un tempio in Gerusalemme, che si trova in Giuda. Chiunque tra voi appartenga al suo popolo, il Signore, suo Dio, sia con lui e si metta in cammino".
