KING JAMES BIBLEJERUSALEM
Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem.1 Le peuple du pays prit Joachaz, fils de Josias, et on le fit roi à la place de son père àJérusalem.
Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.2 Joachaz avait 23 ans à son avènement et il régna trois mois à Jérusalem.
And the king of Egypt put him down at Jerusalem, and condemned the land in an hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.3 Le roi d'Egypte l'enleva de Jérusalem et imposa au pays une contribution de cent talentsd'argent et d'un talent d'or.
And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and turned his name to Jehoiakim.
Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.5 Joiaqim avait 25 ans à son avènement et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem; il fit ce qui déplaît àYahvé, son Dieu.
Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.6 Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, fit campagne contre lui et le mit aux fers pour l'emmenerà Babylone.
Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the LORD to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.7 Nabuchodonosor emporta aussi à Babylone une partie du mobilier du Temple de Yahvé et ledéposa dans son palais de Babylone.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.8 Le reste de l'histoire de Joiaqim, les abominations qu'il commit et ce qui a été relevé contrelui, cela est écrit dans le livre des Rois d'Israël et de Juda. Joiakîn son fils régna à sa place.
Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.9 Joiakîn avait dix-huit ans à son avènement et il régna trois mois et dix jours à Jérusalem; il fitce qui déplaît à Yahvé.
And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.10 Au retour de l'année, le roi Nabuchodonosor l'envoya chercher et le fit conduire à Babyloneavec le mobilier précieux du Temple de Yahvé, et il établit Sédécias son frère comme roi sur Juda et Jérusalem.
Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.11 Sédécias avait 21 ans à son avènement et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God, and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of the LORD.12 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé, son Dieu. Il ne s'humilia pas devant le prophète Jérémie venusur l'ordre de Yahvé.
And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from turning unto the LORD God of Israel.13 Il se révolta en outre contre le roi Nabuchodonosor auquel il avait prêté serment par Dieu. Ilraidit sa nuque et endurcit son coeur au lieu de revenir à Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël.
Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.14 De plus, tous les chefs des prêtres et le peuple multiplièrent les infidélités, imitant toutes lesabominations des nations, et souillèrent le Temple que Yahvé s'était consacré à Jérusalem.
And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:15 Yahvé, le Dieu de leurs pères, leur envoya sans se lasser des messagers, car il voulaitépargner son peuple et sa Demeure.
But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.16 Mais ils tournaient en dérision les envoyés de Dieu, ils méprisaient ses paroles, ils semoquaient de ses prophètes, tant qu'enfin la colère de Yahvé contre son peuple fut telle qu'il n'y eut plus deremède.
Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand.17 Il fit monter contre eux le roi des Chaldéens qui passa au fil de l'épée leurs jeunes guerriersdans leur sanctuaire et n'épargna ni le jeune homme, ni la jeune fille, ni le vieillard, ni l'homme à la tête chenue.Dieu les livra tous entre ses mains.
And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.18 Tous les objets du Temple de Dieu, grands et petits, les trésors du Temple de Yahvé, lestrésors du roi et de ses officiers, il emporta le tout à Babylone.
And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.19 On brûla le Temple de Dieu, on abattit les murailles de Jérusalem, on incendia tous sespalais et l'on détruisit tous ses objets précieux.
And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:20 Puis Nabuchodonosor déporta à Babylone le reste échappé à l'épée; ils durent le servir ainsique ses fils jusqu'à l'établissement du royaume perse,
To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.21 accomplissant ainsi ce que Yahvé avait dit par la bouche de Jérémie: "Jusqu'à ce que le paysait acquitté ses sabbats, il chômera durant tous les jours de la désolation, jusqu'à ce que 70 ans soient révolus."
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,22 Et la première année de Cyrus, roi de Perse, pour accomplir la parole de Yahvé prononcéepar Jérémie, Yahvé éveilla l'esprit de Cyrus, roi de Perse, qui fit proclamer -- et même afficher -- dans tout sonroyaume:
Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people?
