1 Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem.	1 - Il popolo del paese allora prese Joacaz, figlio di Josia, e lo costituì, in luogo del padre suo, re in Gerusalemme.
2 Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.	2 Joacaz aveva ventitrè anni quando cominciò a regnare e regnò tre mesi in Gerusalemme,
3 And the king of Egypt put him down at Jerusalem, and condemned the land in an hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.	3 perchè il re d'Egitto, quando venne a Gerusalemme rimosse e condannò il paese a pagare cento talenti d'argento e un talento d'oro.
4 And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and turned his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.	4 In sua vece poi fece re Eliachim, fratello di Joacaz, sopra Giuda e Gerusalemme: egli cambiò il suo nome in Joachim, mentre prese con sè lo stesso Joacaz e lo condusse in Egitto.
5 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.	5 Joachim aveva venticinque anni quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò undici anni in Gerusalemme, operando il male al cospetto del Signore Dio suo.
6 Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.	6 Contro costui salì Nabucodonosor, re dei Caldei, e caricatolo di catene lo condusse in Babilonia,
7 Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the LORD to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.	7 dove trasportò anche i vasi del Signore, che collocò nel suo tempio.
8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.	8 Il rimanente delle azioni di Joachim, le sue abominazioni che compì e che si ritrovarono in lui, sono contenute nel libro dei re di Giuda e di Israele. In vece di lui regnò il figlio Joachin.
9 Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.	9 Joachin aveva otto anni quando incominciò a regnare e regnò tre mesi e dieci giorni in Gerusalemme e fece il male al cospetto del Signore.
10 And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.	10 L'anno seguente il re Nabucodonosor mandò truppe perchè lo conducessero a Babilonia, facendovi trasportare anche i vasi più preziosi della casa del Signore; e venne costituito re in Giuda e Gerusalemme lo zio suo Sedecia.
11 Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.	11 Sedecia aveva ventun anno quando cominciò a regnare e ne regnò undici in Gerusalemme,
12 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God, and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of the LORD.	12 facendo il male agli occhi del Signore Iddio suo, nè avendo riguardo a Geremia profeta, che gli parlava in nome di Dio.
13 And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from turning unto the LORD God of Israel.	13 Egli si ribellò anche al re Nabucodonosor, che l'aveva fatto giurare per Iddio e indurò la sua cervice e il suo cuore, così da non volersi arrendere al Signore Dio d'Israele.
14 Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.	14 Insieme a lui prevaricarono iniquamente anche i principi dei sacerdoti e il popolo, abbandonandosi a tutte le abominazioni delle genti e contaminando la casa che il Signore si era santificato in Gerusalemme.
15 And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:	15 Il Signore Iddio de' padri loro mandava ad essi di buon'ora i suoi messi per avvertirli giornalmente, perchè voleva risparmiare il popolo e il suo santuario.
16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.	16 Ma essi deridevano i messaggeri di Dio e disprezzavano le parole di lui e facevano oggetto di scherno i profeti, finchè lo sdegno del Signore contro il suo popolo arrivò a tal punto da non esservi più rimedio.
17 Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand.	17 Poichè fece venire sopra di essi il re dei Caldei e uccise i loro giovani colla spada, nella casa del suo santuario; non ebbe misericordia dei giovanetti, delle vergini, dei vecchi e degli stessi decrepiti, ma tutti abbandonò nelle mani di lui.
18 And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.	18 Di più egli trasferì tutti i vasi della casa del Signore, piccoli o grandi, e i tesori del tempio, del re e dei principi in Babilonia.
19 And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.	19 I nemici poi diedero fuoco alla casa di Dio, distrussero le mura di Gerusalemme, bruciarono tutte le torri, e distrussero tutto ciò che avesse un qualche pregio.
20 And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:	20 Che se alcuno potè sfuggire alla spada, tratto in Babilonia servì al re e ai figli suoi, fino a che non ottenne il dominio il re dei Persiani,
21 To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.	21 e non si compì la parola del Signore [detta] per bocca di Geremia, e il paese non ebbe celebrato il suo sabato; poichè esso riposò tutto il tempo della sua desolazione, finchè non furono compiti i settant'anni.
22 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,	22 Nell'anno però primo di Ciro, re dei Persiani, a compimento della parola del Signore che era stata detta per bocca di Geremia, il Signore suscitò lo spirito di Ciro, re dei Persiani, il quale comandò di annunziare in tutto il suo regno, anche con scritti, quanto segue:
23 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.	23 «Questo comanda Ciro, re dei Persiani: -Il Signore Dio del cielo diede a me tutti i regni della terra, e mi comandò di edificargli la casa in Gerusalemme, che è nella Giudea. Chi tra voi è del suo popolo? Il Signore Dio sia con lui e salga-».
