1 And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.	1 E Josaphat re di Giuda se ne tornò sano, e salvo a casa sua a Gerusalemme.
2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.	2 E andogli incontro il Profeta Jehu figliuolo di Banani, e gli disse: Tu dai aiuto a un empio, e stringi amicizia con gente, che odia il Signore, e per questo ti meritavi l'ira del Signore:
3 Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groves out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seek God.	3 Ma si sono trovate in te delle buone opere, perchè tu hai spiantati i boschetti dalla terra di Giuda, e hai rivolto il cuor tuo a cercare il Signore Dio de padri tuoi.
4 And Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem: and he went out again through the people from Beer-sheba to mount Ephraim, and brought them back unto the LORD God of their fathers.	4 Abitò adunque Josaphat in Gerusalemme: e andò di nuovo a visitare il popolo da Bersabee fino alle montagne di Ephraim, e li fe' ritornare al Signore Dio de' padri loro.
5 And he set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city,	5 E pose dei giudici in tutte le città forti di Giuda, e in ogni luogo;
6 And said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment.	6 E dando i suoi ordini a' giudici, diceva: Badate a quel, che fate; perocché voi fate le veci non di un uomo, ma di Dio: e i vostri giudizj, qualunque ei siano, cadranno sopra di voi.
7 Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.	7 Sia con voi il timor del Signore, e fate ogni cosa con esattezza: imperocché ingiustizia non è presso al Signore Dio nostro, né accettazione di persone, né bramosia di doni.
8 Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites, and of the priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the LORD, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.	8 E parimente in Gerusalemme Josaphat nominò dei Leviti, e dei sacerdoti, e dei capi delle famiglie d'Israele, affinchè a nome del Signore rendesser ragione a' suoi cittadini.
9 And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.	9 E intimò loro, e disse: Vi diporterete con fedeltà, e con cuore perfetto nel timor del Signore.
10 And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, ye shall even warn them that they trespass not against the LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not trespass.	10 In qualunque lite tra famiglia, e famiglia de' vostri fratelli dimoranti nelle loro città, la qual lite sia portata a voi, ogni volta che si tratti della legge, de' comandamenti, delle cerimonie, o de' precetti, voi gl'istruirete, affinchè non pecchino contro il Signore, e affinchè non piombi l'ira di Dio sopra di voi, e sopra i vostri fratelli: e cosi facendo non peccherete.
11 And, behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of the LORD; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for all the king's matters: also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and the LORD shall be with the good.	11 E Amaria Sacerdote, e Pontefice vostro avrà giurisdizione in tutto quello che spetta al Signore: e Zabadia figliuolo d'Ismahel, principe della casa di Giuda, presiederà a tutti gli affari riguardanti l'officio del re: e avete con voi per maestri i Leviti: fatevi cuore, e siate diligenti, e il Signore sarà con voi, e faravvi del bene.
