KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.	1 En la douzième année d'Achaz, roi de Juda, Osée fils d'Ela devint roi sur Israël à Samarie; il régnaneuf ans.
2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.	2 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé, non pas pourtant comme les rois d'Israël ses prédécesseurs.
3 Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.	3 Salmanasar, roi d'Assyrie, monta contre Osée, qui se soumit à lui et lui paya tribut.
4 And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.	4 Mais le roi d'Assyrie découvrit qu'Osée le trahissait: celui-ci avait envoyé des messagers à Saïs, versle roi d'Egypte, et il n'avait pas livré le tribut au roi d'Assyrie, comme chaque année. Alors le roi d'Assyrie le fitmettre en prison, chargé de chaînes.
5 Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.	5 Le roi d'Assyrie envahit tout le pays et vint assiéger Samarie, pendant trois ans.
6 In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.	6 En la neuvième année d'Osée, le roi d'Assyrie prit Samarie et déporta les Israélites en Assyrie. Il lesétablit à Halah et sur le Habor, fleuve de Gozân, et dans les villes des Mèdes.
7 For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharoah king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,	7 Cela arriva parce que les Israélites avaient péché contre Yahvé leur Dieu, qui les avait fait monterdu pays d'Egypte, les soustrayant à l'emprise de Pharaon, roi d'Egypte. Ils adorèrent d'autres dieux,
8 And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.	8 ils suivirent les coutumes des nations que Yahvé avait chassées devant eux.
9 And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.	9 Les Israélites proférèrent des paroles inconvenantes contre Yahvé leur Dieu, ils se construisirent deshauts lieux partout où ils habitaient, depuis les tours de garde jusqu'aux villes fortes.
10 And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:	10 Ils se dressèrent des stèles et des pieux sacrés sur toute colline élevée et sous tout arbre verdoyant.
11 And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger:	11 Ils sacrifièrent sur tous les hauts lieux à la manière des nations que Yahvé avait expulsées devanteux et ils y commirent de mauvaises actions, provoquant la colère de Yahvé.
12 For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.	12 Ils rendirent un culte aux idoles, alors que Yahvé leur avait dit: "Vous ne ferez pas cette chose-là."
13 Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.	13 Pourtant, Yahvé avait fait cette injonction à Israël et à Juda, par le ministère de tous les prophèteset de tous les voyants: "Convertissez-vous de votre mauvaise conduite, avait-il dit, et observez mescommandements et mes lois, selon toute la Loi que j'ai prescrite à vos pères et que je leur ai communiquée par leministère de mes serviteurs les prophètes."
14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.	14 Mais ils n'obéirent pas et raidirent leur nuque plus que n'avaient fait leurs pères, qui n'avaient pascru en Yahvé leur Dieu.
15 And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.	15 Ils méprisèrent ses lois, ainsi que l'alliance qu'il avait conclue avec leurs pères et les ordres formelsqu'il leur avait intimés. A la poursuite de la Vanité, ils sont devenus vanité, à l'imitation des nations d'alentour,bien que Yahvé leur eût commandé de ne pas faire comme elles.
16 And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.	16 Ils rejetèrent tous les commandements de Yahvé leur Dieu, et se firent des idoles fondues, les deuxveaux, ils se firent un pieu sacré, ils se prosternèrent devant toute l'armée du ciel et rendirent un culte à Baal.
17 And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.	17 Ils firent passer leurs fils et leurs filles par le feu, ils pratiquèrent la divination et la sorcellerie, ilsse vendirent pour faire le mal au regard de Yahvé, provoquant sa colère.
18 Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.	18 Alors Yahvé fut profondément irrité contre Israël et l'écarta de devant sa face. Il ne resta que laseule tribu de Juda.
19 Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.	19 Juda non plus n'observa pas les commandements de Yahvé son Dieu, et suivit les coutumesqu'Israël avait établies.
20 And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.	20 Et Yahvé repoussa toute la race d'Israël, il l'humilia et la livra aux pillards, tant qu'enfin il la rejetaloin de sa face.
21 For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.	21 Il avait, en effet, détaché Israël de la maison de David, et Israël avait proclamé roi Jéroboam fils deNebat; Jéroboam avait détourné Israël de Yahvé et l'avait entraîné dans un grand péché.
22 For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;	22 Les Israélites imitèrent le péché que Jéroboam avait commis, ils ne s'en détournèrent pas,
23 Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.	23 tant qu'enfin Yahvé écarta Israël de sa face, comme il l'avait annoncé par le ministère de sesserviteurs, les prophètes; il déporta les Israélites loin de leur pays en Assyrie, où ils sont encore aujourd'hui.
24 And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.	24 Le roi d'Assyrie fit venir des gens de Babylone, de Kuta, de Avva, de Hamat et de Sepharvayim etles établit dans les villes de la Samarie à la place des Israélites; ils prirent possession de la Samarie etdemeurèrent dans ses villes.
25 And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them.	25 Au début de leur installation dans le pays, ils ne révéraient pas Yahvé et celui-ci envoya contre euxdes lions, qui en firent un massacre.
26 Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.	26 Ils dirent au roi d'Assyrie: "Les nations que tu as déportées pour les établir dans les villes de laSamarie ne connaissent pas le rite du dieu du pays, et il a envoyé contre elles des lions. Ceux-ci les font mourirparce qu'elles ne connaissent pas le rite du dieu du pays."
27 Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.	27 Alors le roi d'Assyrie donna cet ordre: "Qu'on fasse partir là-bas l'un des prêtres que j'en aidéportés, qu'il aille s'y établir et qu'il leur enseigne le rite du dieu du pays."
28 Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.	28 Alors vint l'un des prêtres qu'on avait déportés de Samarie et il s'installa à Béthel; il leur enseignaitcomment ils devaient révérer Yahvé.
29 Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.	29 Chaque nation se fit ses dieux et les mit dans les temples des hauts lieux, qu'avaient faits lesSamaritains; chaque nation agit ainsi dans les villes qu'elle habitait.
30 And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,	30 Les gens de Babylone avaient fait un Sukkot-Benot, les gens de Kuta un Nergal, les gens de Hamatun Ashima,
31 And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.	31 les Avvites un Nibhaz et un Tartaq, et les gens de Sepharvayim brûlaient leurs enfants au feu enl'honneur d'Adrammélek et d'Anammélek, dieux de Sepharvayim.
32 So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.	32 Ils révéraient aussi Yahvé et ils se firent, en les prenant parmi eux, des prêtres des hauts lieux, quiofficiaient pour eux dans les temples des hauts lieux.
33 They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.	33 Ils révéraient Yahvé et ils servaient leurs dieux, selon le rite des nations d'où ils avaient étédéportés.
34 Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;	34 Encore aujourd'hui, ils suivent leurs anciens rites. Ils ne révéraient pas Yahvé et ils ne seconformaient pas à ses règles et à ses rites, à la loi et aux commandements que Yahvé avait prescrits aux enfantsde Jacob, à qui il avait imposé le nom d'Israël.
35 With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:	35 Yahvé avait conclu avec eux une alliance et il leur avait fait cette prescription: "Vous ne révérerezpas les dieux étrangers, vous ne vous prosternerez pas devant eux, vous ne leur rendrez pas de culte et vous neleur offrirez pas de sacrifices.
36 But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.	36 C'est seulement à Yahvé, qui vous a fait monter du pays d'Egypte par la grande puissance de sonbras étendu, qu'iront votre révérence, votre adoration et vos sacrifices.
37 And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.	37 Vous observerez les règles et les rites, la loi et les commandements qu'il vous a donnés par écritpour vous y conformer toujours, et vous ne révérerez pas de dieux étrangers.
38 And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.	38 N'oubliez pas l'alliance que j'ai conclue avec vous et ne révérez pas de dieux étrangers,
39 But the LORD your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.	39 révérez seulement Yahvé, votre Dieu, et il vous délivrera de la main de tous vos ennemis."
40 Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.	40 Mais ils n'obéirent pas, et ils continuent de suivre leur ancien rite.
41 So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.	41 Donc ces nations révéraient Yahvé et rendaient un culte à leurs idoles; leurs enfants et les enfantsde leurs enfants continuent de faire aujourd'hui comme avaient fait leurs pères.
