1 In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.	1 El duodécimo año de Ajaz, rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, en Samaría, Oseas, hijo de Elá, rey de Israel.
2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.	2 El hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor, aunque no tanto como los reyes de Israel que lo habían precedido.
3 Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents.	3 Salmanasar, rey de Asiria, subió contra él, y Oseas se le sometió y le pagó tributo.
4 And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.	4 Pero el rey de Asiria descubrió que Oseas conspiraba: este, en efecto, había enviado mensajeros a So, rey de Egipto, y no había hecho llegar a Asiria el tributo anual. Entonces el rey de Asiria hizo arrestar a Oseas y lo encerró en una prisión.
5 Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.	5 Luego invadió todo el país, subió contra Samaría y la sitió durante tres años.
6 In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.	6 En el noveno año de Oseas, el rey de Asiria conquistó Samaría y deportó a los israelitas a Asiria. Los estableció en Jalaj y sobre el Jabor, río de Gozán, y en las ciudades de Media.
7 For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharoah king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,	7 Esto sucedió porque los israelitas pecaron contra el Señor, su Dios, que los había hecho subir del país de Egipto, librándolos del poder del Faraón, rey de Egipto, y porque habían venerado a otros dioses.
8 And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.	8 Ellos imitaron las costumbres de las naciones que el Señor había desposeído delante de los israelitas, y las que habían introducido los reyes de Israel.
9 And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.	9 Los israelitas perpetraron contra el Señor, su Dios, acciones indebidas: se edificaron lugares altos en todas sus ciudades, tanto en las torres de guardia como en las plazas fuertes;
10 And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:	10 se erigieron piedras conmemorativas y postes sagrados sobre todas las colinas elevadas y bajo todo árbol frondoso;
11 And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger:	11 allí, en los lugares altos, quemaron incienso como las naciones que el Señor había desterrado delante de ellos; cometieron malas acciones para provocar al Señor
12 For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.	12 y sirvieron a los ídolos, aunque el Señor les había dicho: «No harán nada de eso».
13 Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.	13 El Señor había advertido solemnemente a Israel y a Judá por medio de todos los profetas y videntes, diciendo: «Vuelvan de su mala conducta y observen mis mandamientos y mis preceptos, conforme a toda la Ley que prescribí a sus padres y que transmití por medio de mis servidores los profetas».
14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.	14 Pero ellos no escucharon, y se obstinaron como sus padres, que no creyeron en el Señor, su Dios.
15 And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.	15 Rechazaron sus preceptos y la alianza que el Señor había hecho con sus padres, sin tener en cuenta sus advertencias. Fueron detrás de ídolos vanos, volviéndose así vanos ellos mismos, por ir detrás de las naciones que los rodeaban, aunque el Señor les había prohibido obrar como ellas.
16 And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.	16 Abandonaron todos los mandamientos del Señor, su Dios, y se hicieron ídolos de metal fundido –¡dos terneros!– erigieron un poste sagrado, se postraron delante de todo el Ejército de los cielos y sirvieron a Baal.
17 And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.	17 Inmolaron a sus hijos y a sus hijas en el fuego, practicaron la adivinación y la magia, y se vendieron para hacer lo que el Señor reprueba, provocando su indignación.
18 Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.	18 El Señor se irritó tanto contra Israel, que lo arrojó lejos de su presencia. Sólo quedó la tribu de Judá.
19 Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.	19 Pero tampoco Judá observó los mandamientos del Señor, su Dios, sino que imitó las costumbres que había introducido Israel.
20 And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.	20 Y el Señor rechazó a toda la raza de Israel: los humilló y entregó en manos de salteadores, hasta que al fin los arrojó lejos de su presencia.
21 For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.	21 Cuando el Señor arrancó a Israel de la casa de David, y fue proclamado rey Jeroboam, hijo de Nebat, este alejó del Señor a Israel y le hizo cometer un gran pecado.
22 For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;	22 Los israelitas imitaron todos los pecados que había cometido Jeroboam, y no se apartaron de ellos,
23 Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.	23 tanto que al fin el Señor apartó a Israel de su presencia, conforme a lo que había dicho por medio de todos sus servidores los profetas. Así Israel fue deportado lejos de su suelo, a Asiria, hasta el día de hoy.
24 And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.	24 El rey de Asiria hizo venir gente de Babilonia, de Cut, de Avá, de Jamat y de Sefarvaim, y la estableció en las ciudades de Samaría, en lugar de los israelitas. Ellos tomaron posesión de Samaría y ocuparon sus ciudades.
25 And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them.	25 Pero cuando comenzaron a establecerse en ese lugar, no veneraban al Señor, y el Señor envió contra ellos leones, que hicieron una masacre.
26 Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.	26 Entonces dijeron al rey de Asiria: «La gente que has deportado y establecido en las ciudades de Samaría no conoce la manera de honrar al dios de ese país, y él les envió unos leones que los hicieron morir, porque ellos no conocían la manera de honrar al dios de ese país».
27 Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.	27 El rey de Asiria impartió esta orden: «Manden allí a uno de los sacerdotes de Samaría que yo he deportado: que vaya a establecerse allí y les enseñe la manera de honrar al dios de ese país».
28 Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.	28 Uno de los sacerdotes deportados de Samaría fue entonces a establecerse en Betel, y les enseñaba cómo se debía venerar al Dios de Israel.
29 Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.	29 Pero la gente de cada nación se hizo su propio dios y los instalaron en los templos de los lugares altos que habían construido los samaritanos. Cada una de las naciones obró así en la ciudad donde residía:
30 And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,	30 la gente de Babilonia hizo un Sucot Benot; los de Cut, un Nergal; los de Jamat, un Asimá;
31 And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.	31 los avitas, un Nibjáz y un Tartac. En cuanto a los sefarvaítas, continuaron quemando a sus hijos en honor de Adramélec y de Anamélec, dioses de Sefarvaim.
32 So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.	32 Pero también veneraban al Señor, y establecieron sacerdotes, elegidos entre su propia gente, para que oficiaran en los templos de los lugares altos.
33 They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.	33 Así, aunque veneraban al Señor, servían al mismo tiempo a sus propios dioses, según el rito de las naciones de donde habían sido deportados.
34 Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;	34 Hasta el día de hoy, ellos practican los ritos antiguos: no temen al Señor ni practican los preceptos, los ritos, la Ley y los mandamientos que dictó el Señor a los hijos de Jacob, a quien dio el nombre de Israel.
35 With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:	35 El Señor, en efecto, había concluido con ellos una alianza y les había ordenado: «Ustedes no temerán a otros dioses ni se postrarán delante de ellos, no los servirán ni les ofrecerán sacrificios.
36 But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.	36 Sólo temerán al Señor, que los hizo salir de Egipto con gran poder y brazo extendido; se postrarán delante de él y le ofrecerán sacrificios.
37 And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the law, and the commandment, which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.	37 Observarán los preceptos, los ritos, la Ley y los mandamientos que yo escribí para ustedes, practicándolos todos los días, pero no temerán a otros dioses.
38 And the covenant that I have made with you ye shall not forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.	38 No olvidarán la alianza que hice con ustedes, y no temerán a otros dioses.
39 But the LORD your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.	39 Sólo temerán al Señor, su Dios, y él los librará de la mano de todos sus enemigos».
40 Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their former manner.	40 Pero ellos no escucharon, sino que continuaron practicando los ritos antiguos.
41 So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.	41 Así, estas naciones veneran al Señor y sirven también a sus ídolos. Y sus hijos, y los hijos de sus hijos, hacen hasta el día de hoy lo que habían hecho sus padres.
