1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,	1 Les hommes commençaient à devenir nombreux sur la surface de la terre et des filles leur étaient nées.
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.	2 Les fils de Dieu virent que les filles des hommes étaient belles, et ils prirent pour femmes toutes celles qu’ils avaient remarquées.
3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.	3 Aussi Yahvé dit: “Mon esprit ne restera pas pour toujours dans l’homme car il n’est que chair, sa vie ne dépassera plus 120 ans.”
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.	4 Il y eut des géants sur la terre en ce temps-là, et même après, lorsque les fils de Dieu venaient vers les filles des hommes et qu’elles enfantaient: ainsi naquirent les héros des temps anciens, ces hommes célèbres.
5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.	5 Yahvé vit que la méchanceté de l’homme sur la terre était grande et que dans son cœur il n’y avait de place que pour le mal.
6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.	6 Yahvé se repentit d’avoir fait l’homme sur la terre et il en fut tout triste.
7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.	7 Yahvé dit: “Je supprimerai de la surface de la terre les hommes que j’ai créés; et avec les hommes, les animaux des champs, les reptiles et les oiseaux du ciel, car je me repens de les avoir faits.”
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.	8 Mais Noé trouva grâce aux yeux de Yahvé.
9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.	9 Voici l’histoire de Noé. Noé était un homme juste et droit parmi ses contemporains: Noé marchait avec Dieu.
10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.	10 Noé engendra trois fils: Sem, Kam et Japhet.
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.	11 La terre devint mauvaise aux yeux de Dieu: elle était remplie de violence.
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.	12 Dieu regarda la terre: elle était complètement corrompue parce que tout être sur la terre suivait les chemins du mal.
13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.	13 Dieu dit alors à Noé: “J’ai décidé la fin de tous les êtres vivants, car ils remplissent la terre de violence, je vais les supprimer de la terre.
14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.	14 Fabrique-toi donc une arche en bois de cyprès; tu feras des niches dans l’arche et tu l’enduiras de goudron à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur.
15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.	15 Voici comment tu la fabriqueras: sa longueur sera de 300 coudées, sa largeur de 50 coudées, sa hauteur de 30 coudées.
16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.	16 Tu feras un toit pour l’arche et tu laisseras un espace libre d’une coudée entre le haut des côtés et le toit. Tu placeras la porte de l’arche sur le côté et tu feras un premier, un deuxième et un troisième étage.
17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.	17 “Je vais amener sur la terre les eaux du déluge afin de détruire tout être qui a un souffle de vie sous le ciel: tout ce qui existe sur la terre périra.
18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.	18 Mais j’établirai mon alliance avec toi et tu entreras dans l’arche, toi, tes fils, ta femme et les femmes de tes fils avec toi.
19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.	19 Tu feras entrer aussi dans l’arche deux animaux de chaque espèce, un mâle et une femelle. Tu feras ainsi pour tout être vivant, pour les garder vivants avec toi.
20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.	20 Il en viendra vers toi deux de chaque espèce: des oiseaux selon leur espèce, des animaux des champs selon leur espèce, de tous les reptiles de la terre selon leur espèce. Ainsi tu les garderas en vie.
21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.	21 Tu te procureras de tout aliment qui se mange, tu en feras provision pour que vous ayez à manger, toi comme eux.”
22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.	22 Noé fit tout comme Dieu le lui avait ordonné.
