Genesis 40

1 And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.	1 Il arriva, après ces événements, que l'échanson du roi d'Egypte et son panetier se rendirentcoupables envers leur maître, le roi d'Egypte.
2 And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.	2 Pharaon s'irrita contre ses deux eunuques, le grand échanson et le grand panetier,
3 And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.	3 et il les mit aux arrêts chez le commandant des gardes, dans la geôle où Joseph était détenu.
4 And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.	4 Le commandant des gardes leur adjoignit Joseph pour qu'il les servit et ils restèrent un certaintemps aux arrêts.
5 And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.	5 Or, une même nuit, tous deux eurent un songe ayant pour chacun sa signification, l'échanson et lepanetier du roi d'Egypte, qui étaient détenus dans la geôle.
6 And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.	6 Venant les trouver le matin, Joseph s'aperçut qu'ils étaient maussades
7 And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day?	7 et il demanda aux eunuques de Pharaon qui étaient avec lui aux arrêts chez son maître: "Pourquoifaites-vous mauvais visage aujourd'hui?"
8 And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.	8 Ils lui répondirent: "Nous avons eu un songe et il n'y a personne pour l'interpréter", Joseph leur dit:"C'est Dieu qui donne l'interprétation; mais racontez-moi donc!"
9 And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;	9 Le grand échanson raconta à Joseph le songe qu'il avait eu:"J'ai rêvé, dit-il, qu'il y avait devant moiun cep de vigne,
10 And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:	10 et sur le cep trois sarments: dès qu'il bourgeonna, il monta en fleurs, ses grappes firent mûrir lesraisins.
11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.	11 J'avais en main la coupe de Pharaon, je pris les raisins, je les pressai sur la coupe de Pharaon et jemis la coupe dans la main de Pharaon."
12 And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:	12 Joseph lui dit: "Voici ce que cela signifie: les trois sarments représentent trois jours.
13 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.	13 Encore trois jours et Pharaon t'élèvera la tête, et il te rendra ton emploi: tu mettras la coupe dePharaon en sa main, comme tu avais coutume de faire autrefois où tu étais son échanson.
14 But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:	14 Souviens-toi de moi, lorsqu'il te sera arrivé du bien, et sois assez bon pour parler de moi àPharaon, qu'il me fasse sortir de cette maison.
15 For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.	15 En effet, j'ai été enlevé du pays des Hébreux et ici même je n'ai rien fait pour qu'on me mette enprison."
16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:	16 Le grand panetier vit que c'était une interprétation favorable et il dit à Joseph: "Moi aussi, j'airêvé: il y avait trois corbeilles de gâteaux sur ma tête.
17 And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.	17 Dans la corbeille du dessus, il y avait toutes sortes de pâtisseries que mange Pharaon, mais lesoiseaux les mangeaient dans la corbeille, sur ma tête."
18 And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:	18 Joseph lui répondit ainsi: "Voici ce que cela signifie: les trois corbeilles représentent trois jours.
19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.	19 Encore trois jours et Pharaon t'élèvera la tête, il te pendra au gibet et les oiseaux mangeront lachair de dessus de toi."
20 And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.	20 Effectivement, le troisième jour, qui était l'anniversaire de Pharaon, celui-ci donna un banquet àtous ses officiers et il relâcha le grand échanson et le grand panetier au milieu de ses officiers.
21 And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:	21 Il rétablit le grand échanson dans son échansonnerie et celui-ci mit la coupe dans la main dePharaon;
22 But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.	22 quant au grand panetier, il le pendit, comme Joseph lui avait expliqué.
23 Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.	23 Mais le grand échanson ne se souvint pas de Joseph, il l'oublia.
