1 And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.	1 Or il arriva que deux fonctionnaires du roi d’Égypte, le responsable des boissons et le responsable du pain, furent pris en faute envers leur maître, le roi d’Égypte.
2 And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.	2 Le Pharaon se mit en colère contre ces deux fonctionnaires
3 And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.	3 et les fit enfermer dans la maison du chef des gardes, dans la prison où se trouvait Joseph.
4 And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.	4 Le chef des gardes préposa Joseph à leur service et ils restèrent un certain temps dans cette prison.
5 And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.	5 C’est alors que le chef du service des boissons et le chef du service des pains qui étaient enfermés dans la prison, eurent tous les deux un rêve dans la même nuit, et les deux rêves demandaient une interprétation.
6 And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.	6 Au matin Joseph s’approcha d’eux; il vit qu’ils étaient tourmentés.
7 And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day?	7 Il demanda donc à ces fonctionnaires du Pharaon, prisonniers avec lui dans la maison de son maître: “Pourquoi vos visages sont-ils si tristes aujourd’hui?”
8 And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.	8 Ils répondirent: “Nous avons eu un rêve, et personne ne peut nous l’expliquer.” Joseph leur dit: “Mais c’est Dieu seul qui peut donner l’interprétation des rêves. Racontez-les moi donc!”
9 And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;	9 Le chef du service des boissons raconta à Joseph le songe qu’il avait fait: “Je voyais en songe une vigne devant moi,
10 And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:	10 et sur le pied de vigne, trois branches. La vigne bourgeonna, les fleurs se formèrent et les grappes de raisins mûrirent.
11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.	11 Comme je tenais dans ma main la coupe du Pharaon, je pris les raisins et je les pressai dans la coupe du Pharaon, puis je lui mis la coupe entre les mains.”
12 And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:	12 Joseph lui dit: “Voici la signification de ce rêve: Les trois branches sont trois jours.
13 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.	13 Encore trois jours et tu pourras marcher la tête haute. Le Pharaon te rétablira à ton poste et de nouveau tu mettras la coupe dans la main du Pharaon, comme tu le faisais lorsque tu étais le responsable du service des boissons.
14 But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:	14 Souviens-toi de moi lorsque tout ira bien pour toi; aie la bonté de parler de moi au Pharaon pour qu’il me fasse sortir de cette prison,
15 For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.	15 car j’ai été enlevé de force au pays des Hébreux et ici même, je n’ai rien fait pour mériter la prison.”
16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:	16 Le chef du service du pain vit que le songe était favorable, aussi il dit à Joseph: “Et moi, voici mon rêve: j’avais sur la tête trois corbeilles de pain blanc.
17 And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.	17 Dans la corbeille du haut il y avait de toutes les pâtisseries que le boulanger prépare pour Pharaon, et les oiseaux du ciel les mangeaient dans la corbeille au-dessus de ma tête.”
18 And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:	18 Joseph prit la parole et lui dit: “Voici la signification de ton rêve: les trois corbeilles sont trois jours;
19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.	19 encore trois jours et toi aussi tu auras la tête haute: le Pharaon te pendra à un arbre et les oiseaux mangeront ta chair.”
20 And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.	20 Or le troisième jour, c’était l’anniversaire du Pharaon et il fit un grand repas pour tous ses serviteurs. Il se souvint alors du chef du service des boissons et du chef du service du pain.
21 And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:	21 Il rétablit le chef du service des boissons dans sa charge, et de nouveau celui-ci mit la coupe dans la main du Pharaon.
22 But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.	22 Par contre il fit pendre le chef du service du pain, comme Joseph l’avait annoncé.
23 Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.	23 Le chef du service des boissons, pour sa part, ne pensa plus à Joseph, il l’oublia même complètement.
