1 And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.	1 Después de estos acontecimientos, el copero y el panadero del rey de Egipto ofendieron a su señor.
2 And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.	2 El Faraón se irritó contra sus dos funcionarios –el copero mayor y el panadero mayor–
3 And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.	3 y los hizo poner bajo custodia en la casa del capitán de guardias, en la misma cárcel donde estaba preso José.
4 And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.	4 El capitán de guardias encargó a José que se ocupara de servirlos, y así estuvieron arrestados durante un tiempo.
5 And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.	5 Una vez, mientras estaban presos en la cárcel, el copero y el panadero del rey de Egipto tuvieron un sueño en el transcurso de una misma noche, cada sueño con su significado propio.
6 And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad.	6 A la mañana siguiente, cuando José fue a verlos, los encontró deprimidos.
7 And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day?	7 «¿Por qué están hoy con la cara triste?», preguntó a los funcionarios del Faraón que estaban arrestados con él en la casa de su señor.
8 And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.	8 Ellos le respondieron: «Hemos tenido un sueño, y aquí no hay nadie que lo interprete». José les dijo: «La interpretación es obra de Dios; pero de todos modos cuéntenme lo que soñaron».
9 And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;	9 El copero relató su sueño a José. «Yo soñé, le dijo que delante de mí había una vid,
10 And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, and her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:	10 y en ella, tres sarmientos. Apenas la vid dio brotes, salieron sus flores y maduraron las uvas en los racimos.
11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.	11 La copa del faraón estaba en mi mano: yo tomé las uvas, las exprimí en esa copa, y la puse en la mano del Faraón».
12 And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:	12 José le dijo: «La interpretación es la siguiente: los tres racimos representan tres días,
13 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.	13 Dentro de tres días, el Faraón te indultará, te restituirá a tu cargo, y tú pondrás la copa en su mano, como acostumbrabas a hacerlo antes, cuando eras su copero.
14 But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:	14 Y cuando mejore tu suerte, si todavía recuerdas que yo estuve aquí contigo, no dejes de hacerme este favor: háblale de mí al Faraón, y trata de sacarme de este lugar.
15 For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.	15 Porque yo fui traído por la fuerza del país de los hebreos, y aquí no hice nada para que me pusieran en la cárcel».
16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:	16 El panadero mayor, al ver con qué acierto había interpretado el sueño, dijo a José: «Yo, por mi parte, soñé que tenía sobre mi cabeza tres canastas de mimbre.
17 And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.	17 En la canasta más elevada, había de todos los productos de panadería que come el Faraón, y los pájaros comían de esa canasta que estaba encima de mi cabeza».
18 And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:	18 José le respondió: «La interpretación es la siguiente: las tres canastas representan tres días.
19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.	19 Dentro de tres días el Faraón te hará decapitar, te colgará de un poste, y los pájaros comerán tu carne».
20 And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.	20 Efectivamente, al tercer día se festejaba el cumpleaños del Faraón, y este agasajó con un banquete a todos sus servidores. Entonces reconsideró las causas del copero mayor y del panadero mayor en medio de sus servidores,
21 And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:	21 y restituyó en su cargo al copero mayor, de manera que este volvió a poner la copa en la mano del Faraón;
22 But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.	22 en cambio, mandó colgar al panadero mayor, conforme a la interpretación que les había dado José.
23 Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.	23 Sin embargo, el copero mayor ya no pensó más en José, sino que se olvidó de él.
