Livre de Job 32

1 Ces trois hommes cessèrent de répondre à Job parce qu'il s'estimait juste.	1 Then the three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.
2 Mais voici que se mit en colère Elihu, fils de Barakéel le Buzite, du clan de Ram. Sa colère s'enflammacontre Job parce qu'il prétendait avoir raison contre Dieu;	2 But the anger of Elihu, son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was kindled. He was angry with Job for considering himself rather than God to be in the right.
3 elle s'enflamma également contre ses trois amis, qui n'avaient plus rien trouvé à répliquer et ainsiavaient laissé les torts à Dieu.	3 He was angry also with the three friends because they had not found a good answer and had not condemned Job.
4 Tandis qu'ils parlaient avec Job, Elihu avait attendu, car ils étaient ses anciens;	4 But since these men were older than he, Elihu bided his time before addressing Job.
5 mais quand il vit que ces trois hommes n'avaient plus de réponse à la bouche, sa colère éclata.	5 When, however, Elihu saw that there was no reply in the mouths of the three men, his wrath was inflamed.
6 Et il prit la parole, lui, Elihu, fils de Barakéel le Buzite, et il dit: Je suis tout jeune encore, et vous êtesdes anciens; aussi je craignais, intimidé, de vous manifester mon savoir.	6 So Elihu, son of Barachel the Buzite, spoke out and said: I am young and you are very old; therefore I held back and was afraid to declare to you my knowledge.
7 Je me disais: "L'âge parlera, les années nombreuses feront connaître la sagesse."	7 Days should speak, I thought, and many years teach wisdom!
8 A la vérité, c'est un esprit dans l'homme, c'est le souffle de Shaddaï qui rend intelligent.	8 But it is a spirit in man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding.
9 Le grand âge ne donne pas la sagesse, ni la vieillesse le sens du juste.	9 It is not those of many days who are wise, nor the aged who understand the right.
10 Aussi, je vous invite à m'écouter, car je vais manifester, à mon tour, mon savoir.	10 Therefore I say, hearken to me; let me too set forth my knowledge!
11 Jusqu'ici, j'attendais vos paroles, j'ouvrais l'oreille à vos raisonnements, tandis que chacun cherchaitses mots.	11 Behold, I have waited for your discourses, and have given ear to your arguments.
12 Sur vous se fixait mon attention. Et je vois qu'aucun n'a confondu Job, nul d'entre vous n'a réfuté sesdires.	12 Yes, I followed you attentively as you searched out what to say; And behold, there is none who has convicted Job, not one of you who could refute his statements.
13 Ne dites donc pas: "Nous avons trouvé la sagesse; notre doctrine est divine, non humaine."	13 Yet do not say, "We have met wisdom. God may vanquish him but not man!"
14 Ce n'est pas ainsi que je discuterai, je répliquerai à Job en d'autres termes.	14 For had he addressed his words to me, I should not then have answered him as you have done.
15 Ils sont restés interdits, sans réponse; les mots leur ont manqué.	15 They are dismayed, they make no more reply; words fail them.
16 Et j'attendais! Puisqu'ils ne parlent plus, qu'ils ont cessé de se répondre,	16 Must I wait? Now that they speak no more, and have ceased to make reply,
17 je prendrai la parole à mon tour, je montrerai moi aussi mon savoir.	17 I too will speak my part; I also will show my knowledge!
18 Car je suis plein de mots, oppressé par un souffle intérieur.	18 For I am full of matters to utter; the spirit within me compels me.
19 En mon sein, c'est comme un vin nouveau cherchant issue et qui fait éclater des outres neuves.	19 Like a new wineskin with wine under pressure, my bosom is ready to burst.
20 Parler me soulagera, j'ouvrirai les lèvres et je répondrai.	20 Let me speak and obtain relief; let me open my lips, and make reply.
21 Je ne prendrai le parti de personne, à aucun je ne dirai des mots flatteurs.	21 I would not be partial to anyone, nor give flattering titles to any.
22 Je ne sais point flatter, car mon Créateur me supprimerait sous peu.	22 For I know nought of flattery; if I did, my Maker would soon take me away.
