1 Peter 5

1 The ancients therefore that are among you, I beseech, who am myself also an ancient, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ: as also a partaker of that glory which is to be revealed in time to come:	1 Esorto gli anziani che sono tra voi, quale anziano come loro, testimone delle sofferenze di Cristo e partecipe della gloria che deve manifestarsi:
2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking care of it, not by constraint, but willingly, according to God: not for filthy lucre's sake, but voluntarily:	2 pascete il gregge di Dio che vi è affidato, sorvegliandolo non perché costretti ma volentieri, come piace a Dio, non per vergognoso interesse, ma con animo generoso,
3 Neither as lording it over the clergy, but being made a pattern of the flock from the heart.	3 non come padroni delle persone a voi affidate, ma facendovi modelli del gregge.
4 And when the prince of pastors shall appear, you shall receive a never fading crown of glory.	4 E quando apparirà il Pastore supremo, riceverete la corona della gloria che non appassisce.
5 In like manner, ye young men, be subject to the ancients. And do you all insinuate humility one to another, for God resisteth the proud, but to the humble he giveth grace.	5 Anche voi, giovani, siate sottomessi agli anziani. Rivestitevi tutti di umiltà gli uni verso gli altri, perché Dio resiste ai superbi, ma dà grazia agli umili.
6 Be you humbled therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in the time of visitation:	6 Umiliatevi dunque sotto la potente mano di Dio, affinché vi esalti al tempo opportuno,
7 Casting all your care upon him, for he hath care of you.	7 riversando su di lui ogni vostra preoccupazione, perché egli ha cura di voi.
8 Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour.	8 Siate sobri, vegliate. Il vostro nemico, il diavolo, come leone ruggente va in giro cercando chi divorare.
9 Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls your brethren who are in the world.	9 Resistetegli saldi nella fede, sapendo che le medesime sofferenze sono imposte ai vostri fratelli sparsi per il mondo.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you.	10 E il Dio di ogni grazia, il quale vi ha chiamati alla sua gloria eterna in Cristo Gesù, egli stesso, dopo che avrete un poco sofferto, vi ristabilirà, vi confermerà, vi rafforzerà, vi darà solide fondamenta.
11 To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen.	11 A lui la potenza nei secoli. Amen!
12 By Sylvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I think, I have written briefly: beseeching and testifying that this is the true grace of God, wherein you stand.	12 Vi ho scritto brevemente per mezzo di Silvano, che io ritengo fratello fedele, per esortarvi e attestarvi che questa è la vera grazia di Dio. In essa state saldi!
13 The church that is in Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you: and so doth my son Mark.	13 Vi saluta la comunità che vive in Babilonia e anche Marco, figlio mio.
14 Salute one another with a holy kiss. Grace be to all you, who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.	14 Salutatevi l’un l’altro con un bacio d’amore fraterno. Pace a voi tutti che siete in Cristo!
