Luke 4

Torna indietro

Douai-Rheims Sacra Bibbia Garofalo
And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the desert,1 Ora, Gesù, pieno di Spirito Santo tornò, dal Giordano e fu condotto dallo Spirito nel, deserto,
For the space of forty days; and was tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing in those days; and when they were ended, he was hungry.2 dove, per quaranta giorni, fu tentato dal diavolo. In quei giorni non mangiò nulla, e alla fine ebbe fame.
And the devil said to him: If thou be the Son of God, say to this stone that it be made bread.3 Il diavolo, allora, gli disse: «Se tu sei Figlio di Dio, di a questo sasso che diventi pane».
And Jesus answered him: It is written, that Man liveth not by bread alone, but by every word of God.4 Ma Gesù gli rispose: «Sta scritto: Non di pane solo vivrà l’uomo».
And the devil led him into a high mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time;5 Conducendolo, allora, in alto, il diavolo gli mostrò in un baleno tutti i regni del mondo
And he said to him: To thee will I give all this power, and the glory of them; for to me they are delivered, and to whom I will, I give them.6 e gli disse: «Ti. darò tutta questa potenza e la magnificenza di questi regni; poiché è stata data a me, ed io la do a chi voglio.
If thou therefore wilt adore before me, all shall be thine.7 Se tu, dunque, ti prostri dinanzi a me sarà tutta tua».
And Jesus answering said to him: It is written: Thou shalt adore the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.8 Ma Gesù gli rispose: «Sta scritto: Il Signore Dio tuo adorerai, e a lui solo renderai culto».
And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and he said to him: If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself from hence.9 Lo condusse poi a Gerusalemme, lo pose sul pinnacolo del tempio e gli disse: «Se tu sei Figlio di Dio buttati giù di qui,
For it is written, that He hath given his angels charge over thee, that they keep thee.10 poiché sta scritto: Agli angeli suoi darà ordine per te, perché ti custodiscano,
And that in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest perhaps thou dash thy foot against a stone.11 e ancora: essi ti sorreggeranno sulle mani, perché il tuo piede non abbia a inciampare in qualche sasso».
And Jesus answering, said to him: It is said: Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.12 Ma Gesù gli rispose: «È detto: Non rtenterai il Signore, Dio tuo».
And all the temptation being ended, the devil departed from him for a time.13 E il diavolo, esaurita ogni specie di tentazione, si allontanò da lui fino al tempo opportuno.
And Jesus returned in the power of the spirit, into Galilee, and the fame of him went out through the whole country.14 Gesù allora tornò in Galilea, con la potenza dello Spirito, e la sua fama si diffuse in tutti i dintorni.
And he taught in their synagogues, and was magnified by all.15 Egli insegnava nelle loro sinagoghe, glorificato da tutti.
And he came to Nazareth, where he was brought up: and he went into the synagogue, according to his custom, on the sabbath day; and he rose up to read.16 E venne a Nazaret, dove era stato allevato, e di sabato, come era solito fare, entrò nella sinagoga e si alzò in piedi a leggere.
And the book of Isaias the prophet was delivered unto him. And as he unfolded the book, he found the place where it was written:17 Gli fu dato il libro del profeta Isaia, e, svoltolo, trovò il passo dove stava scritto:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. Wherefore he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the contrite of heart,18 Lo Spirito del Signore è sopra di me; per questo mi ha unto, mi ha mandato a predicare ai poveri la buona novella, ad annunziare ai prigionieri la liberazione, ai ciechi il recupero della’ vista, a mettere in libertà gli oppressi,
To preach deliverance to the captives, and sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of reward.19 a promulgare un anno di grazia del Signore.
And when he had folded the book, he restored it to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him.20 Arrotolò il volume, lo rese all’inserviente e sedette. Gli occhi di tutti, nella sinagoga,: erano fissi su di lui.
And he began to say to them: This day is fulfilled this scripture in your ears.21 Allora cominciò a dire loro: «Oggi si è adempiuta questa Scrittura nelle vostre orecchie».
And all gave testimony to him: and they wondered at the words of grace that proceeded from his mouth, and they said: Is not this the son of Joseph?22 E tutti gli rendevano testimonianza e si meravigliavano delle parole di grazia che uscivano dalla sua bocca, e dicevano: «Non è questi il figlio di Giuseppe?»
And he said to them: Doubtless you will say to me this similitude: Physician, heal thyself: as great things as we have heard done in Capharnaum, do also here in thy own country.23 E disse loro: «Certo, voi mi citerete questo proverbio: “Medico, cura te stesso!”. Quanto abbiamo sentito che è accaduto a Cafarnao fallo anche qui, nella tua patria».
And he said: Amen I say to you, that no prophet is accepted in his own country.24 E soggiunse: «In verità vi dico: nessun profeta è accetto nella sua patria.
In truth I say to you, there were many widows in the days of Elias in Israel, when heaven was shut up three years and six months, when there was a great famine throughout all the earth.25 In verità vi dico: molte vedove c’erano al tempo di Elia, quando il cielo fu chiuso per tre anni e sei mesi e vi fu una grande fame in tutto il paese,
And to none of them was Elias sent, but to Sarepta of Sidon, to a widow woman.26 tuttavia a nessuna di esse fu mandato Elia, ma solo a una vedova in Sarepta di Sidone.
And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet: and none of them was cleansed but Naaman the Syrian.27 E molti lebbrosi c'erano in Israele al tempo del profeta Eliseo, e nessuno di essi fu mondato, ma solo Naaman, il siro».
And all they in the synagogue, hearing these things, were filled with anger.28 A queste parole, tutti nella sinagoga furon pieni d’ira
And they rose up and thrust him out of the city; and they brought him to the brow of the hill, whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.29 e, levatisi, lo cacciarono fuori della città e lo condussero fino al ciglio della collina sulla quale la loro città era edificata; per buttarlo di sotto.
But he passing through the midst of them, went his way.30 Ma egli, passando in mezzo a loro, se ne andava.
And he went down into Capharnaum, a city of Galilee, and there he taught them on the sabbath days.31 E scese a Cafarnao, città della Galilea, e insegnava loro nel giorno di sabato,
And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his speech was with power.32 e tutti erano stupefatti del suo insegnamento, poiché parlava con autorità.
And in the synagogue there was a man who had an unclean devil, and he cried out with a loud voice,33 Nella sinagoga c’era un uomo posseduto dallo spirito di un demonio immondo, che gridò forte:
Saying: Let us alone, what have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the holy one of God.34 «Deh! che abbiamo da vedere con te, Gesù di Nazaret? Sei tu venuto per perderci? To so chi sei tu: il Santo di Dio!»
And Jesus rebuked him, saying: Hold thy peace, and go out of him. And when the devil had thrown him into the midst, he went out of him, and hurt him not at all.35 Ma Gesù gli intimò: «Taci! esci da costui!» Allora il demonio, sbattutolo in mezzo, uscì dall’uomo senza fargli alcun male.
And there came fear upon all, and they talked among themselves, saying: What word is this, for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they go out?36 E tutti furon presi da stupore, e si dicevano l’un l’altro: «Che parlare è mai questo, poiché con autorità e potenza comanda agli spiriti immondi ed essi vanno via?»
And the fame of him was published into every place of the country.37 E la sua fama si propagava dappertutto nella contrada.
And Jesus rising up out of the synagogue, went into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever, and they besought him for her.38 Lasciata la sinagoga, Gesù entrò nella casa di Simone, ma la suocera di Simone era in preda a una febbre grande, e lo pregarono per lei.
And standing over her, he commanded the fever, and it left her. And immediately rising, she ministered to them.39 Gesù si chinò su di lei e intimò alla febbre che la lasciò; lì per lì essa si levò e li serviva.
And when the sun was down, all they that had any sick with divers diseases, brought them to him. But he laying his hands on every one of them, healed them.40 Al tramonto del sole, tutti quelli che avevano malati di varie malattie li condussero a lui; ed egli li guarì imponendo a ciasuno le mani,
And devils went out from many, crying out and saying: Thou art the Son of God. And rebuking them he suffered them not to speak, for they knew that he was Christ.41 Uscivano anche i demoni da molti, gridando: «Tu sei il Figlio di Dio». Ma egli li riprendeva severamente e non permetteva che dicessero questo, perché sapevano ch’egli era il Messia,
And when it was day, going out he went into a desert place, and the multitudes sought him, and came unto him: and they stayed him that he should not depart from them.42 Fattosi giorno, uscì e se ne andò in un luogo solitario. Le folle lo cercavano e, raggiuntolo, tentavano di trattenerlo perché non li abbandonasse.
To whom he said: To other cities also I must preach the kingdom of God: for therefore am I sent.43 Ma egli disse: «Anche alle altre città io devo evangelizzare il regno di Dio, poiché per questo io sono stato mandato».
And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.44 E andava predicando per le sinagoghe della Giudea.
