1 The kingdom of heaven is like to an householder, who went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.	1 Denn mit dem Himmelreich ist es wie mit einem Gutsbesitzer, der früh am Morgen sein Haus verließ, um Arbeiter für seinen Weinberg anzuwerben.
2 And having agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.	2 Er einigte sich mit den Arbeitern auf einen Denar für den Tag und schickte sie in seinen Weinberg.
3 And going about the third hour, he saw others standing in the market place idle.	3 Um die dritte Stunde ging er wieder auf den Markt und sah andere dastehen, die keine Arbeit hatten.
4 And he said to them: Go you also into my vineyard, and I will give you what shall be just.	4 Er sagte zu ihnen: Geht auch ihr in meinen Weinberg! Ich werde euch geben, was recht ist.
5 And they went their way. And again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did in like manner.	5 Und sie gingen. Um die sechste und um die neunte Stunde ging der Gutsherr wieder auf den Markt und machte es ebenso.
6 But about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing, and he saith to them: Why stand you here all the day idle?	6 Als er um die elfte Stunde noch einmal hinging, traf er wieder einige, die dort herumstanden. Er sagte zu ihnen: Was steht ihr hier den ganzen Tag untätig herum?
7 They say to him: Because no man hath hired us. He saith to them: Go you also into my vineyard.	7 Sie antworteten: Niemand hat uns angeworben. Da sagte er zu ihnen: Geht auch ihr in meinen Weinberg!
8 And when evening was come, the lord of the vineyard saith to his steward: Call the labourers and pay them their hire, beginning from the last even to the first.	8 Als es nun Abend geworden war, sagte der Besitzer des Weinbergs zu seinem Verwalter: Ruf die Arbeiter, und zahl ihnen den Lohn aus, angefangen bei den letzten, bis hin zu den ersten.
9 When therefore they were come, that came about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.	9 Da kamen die Männer, die er um die elfte Stunde angeworben hatte, und jeder erhielt einen Denar.
10 But when the first also came, they thought that they should receive more: and they also received every man a penny.	10 Als dann die ersten an der Reihe waren, glaubten sie, mehr zu bekommen. Aber auch sie erhielten nur einen Denar.
11 And receiving it they murmured against the master of the house,	11 Da begannen sie, über den Gutsherrn zu murren,
12 Saying: These last have worked but one hour, and thou hast made them equal to us, that have borne the burden of the day and the heats.	12 und sagten: Diese letzten haben nur eine Stunde gearbeitet, und du hast sie uns gleichgestellt; wir aber haben den ganzen Tag über die Last der Arbeit und die Hitze ertragen.
13 But he answering said to one of them: Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst thou not agree with me for a penny?	13 Da erwiderte er einem von ihnen: Mein Freund, dir geschieht kein Unrecht. Hast du nicht einen Denar mit mir vereinbart?
14 Take what is thine, and go thy way: I will also give to this last even as to thee.	14 Nimm dein Geld und geh! Ich will dem letzten ebenso viel geben wie dir.
15 Or, is it not lawful for me to do what I will? is thy eye evil, because I am good?	15 Darf ich mit dem, was mir gehört, nicht tun, was ich will? Oder bist du neidisch, weil ich (zu anderen) gütig bin?
16 So shall the last be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.	16 So werden die Letzten die Ersten sein und die Ersten die Letzten.
17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples apart, and said to them:	17 Als Jesus nach Jerusalem hinaufzog, nahm er unterwegs die zwölf Jünger beiseite und sagte zu ihnen:
18 Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death.	18 Wir gehen jetzt nach Jerusalem hinauf; dort wird der Menschensohn den Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten ausgeliefert; sie werden ihn zum Tod verurteilen
19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked, and scourged, and crucified, and the third day he shall rise again.	19 und den Heiden übergeben, damit er verspottet, gegeißelt und gekreuzigt wird; aber am dritten Tag wird er auferstehen.
20 Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her sons, adoring and asking something of him.	20 Damals kam die Frau des Zebedäus mit ihren Söhnen zu Jesus und fiel vor ihm nieder, weil sie ihn um etwas bitten wollte.
21 Who said to her: What wilt thou? She saith to him: Say that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left, in thy kingdom.	21 Er fragte sie: Was willst du? Sie antwortete: Versprich, dass meine beiden Söhne in deinem Reich rechts und links neben dir sitzen dürfen.
22 And Jesus answering, said: You know not what you ask. Can you drink the chalice that I shall drink? They say to him: We can.	22 Jesus erwiderte: Ihr wisst nicht, um was ihr bittet. Könnt ihr den Kelch trinken, den ich trinken werde? Sie sagten zu ihm: Wir können es.
23 He saith to them: My chalice indeed you shall drink; but to sit on my right or left hand, is not mine to give to you, but to them for whom it is prepared by my Father.	23 Da antwortete er ihnen: Ihr werdet meinen Kelch trinken; doch den Platz zu meiner Rechten und zu meiner Linken habe nicht ich zu vergeben; dort werden die sitzen, für die mein Vater diese Plätze bestimmt hat.
24 And the ten hearing it, were moved with indignation against the two brethren.	24 Als die zehn anderen Jünger das hörten, wurden sie sehr ärgerlich über die beiden Brüder.
25 But Jesus called them to him, and said: You know that the princes of the Gentiles lord it over them; and they that are the greater, exercise power upon them.	25 Da rief Jesus sie zu sich und sagte: Ihr wisst, dass die Herrscher ihre Völker unterdrücken und die Mächtigen ihre Macht über die Menschen missbrauchen.
26 It shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be the greater among you, let him be your minister:	26 Bei euch soll es nicht so sein, sondern wer bei euch groß sein will, der soll euer Diener sein,
27 And he that will be first among you, shall be your servant.	27 und wer bei euch der Erste sein will, soll euer Sklave sein.
28 Even as the Son of man is not come to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a redemption for many.	28 Denn auch der Menschensohn ist nicht gekommen, um sich dienen zu lassen, sondern um zu dienen und sein Leben hinzugeben als Lösegeld für viele.
29 And when they went out from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.	29 Als sie Jericho verließen, folgte ihm eine große Zahl von Menschen.
30 And behold two blind men sitting by the way side, heard that Jesus passed by, and they cried out, saying: O Lord, thou son of David, have mercy on us.	30 An der Straße aber saßen zwei Blinde, und als sie hörten, dass Jesus vorbeikam, riefen sie laut: Herr, Sohn Davids, hab Erbarmen mit uns!
31 And the multitude rebuked them that they should hold their peace. But they cried out the more, saying: O Lord, thou son of David, have mercy on us.	31 Die Leute aber wurden ärgerlich und befahlen ihnen zu schweigen. Sie aber schrien noch lauter: Herr, Sohn Davids, hab Erbarmen mit uns!
32 And Jesus stood, and called them, and said: What will ye that I do to you?	32 Jesus blieb stehen, rief sie zu sich und sagte: Was soll ich euch tun?
33 They say to him: Lord, that our eyes be opened.	33 Sie antworteten: Herr, wir möchten, dass unsere Augen geöffnet werden.
34 And Jesus having compassion on them, touched their eyes. And immediately they saw, and followed him.	34 Da hatte Jesus Mitleid mit ihnen und berührte ihre Augen. Im gleichen Augenblick konnten sie wieder sehen, und sie folgten ihm.
