1 The same day Jesus going out of the house, sat by the sea side.	1 An jenem Tag ging Jesus aus dem Haus und setzte sich an den See.
2 And great multitudes were gathered unto him, so that he went up into a boat and sat: and all the multitude stood on the shore.	2 Es sammelte sich viel Volk um ihn, so daß er ein Schiff bestieg und sich niederließ; das ganze Volk aber stand am Ufer.
3 And he spoke to them many things in parables, saying: Behold the sower went forth to sow.	3 Er redete viel zu ihnen in Gleichnissen und sprach: "Seht, ein Sämann ging aus zu säen.
4 And whilst he soweth some fell by the way side, and the birds of the air came and ate them up.	4 Und als er säte, fiel einiges auf den Weg, und es kamen die Vögel [des Himmels] und fraßen es auf.
5 And other some fell upon stony ground, where they had not much earth: and they sprung up immediately, because they had no deepness of earth.	5 Anderes fiel auf steinigen Grund, wo es nicht viel Erdreich hatte, und ging sogleich auf, weil es ihm an Tiefe des Erdreiches fehlte.
6 And when the sun was up they were scorched: and because they had not root, they withered away.	6 Als die Sonne aufging, wurde es von der Hitze getroffen, und weil es keine Wurzel hatte, verdorrte es.
7 And others fell among thorns: and the thorns grew up and choked them.	7 Anderes fiel unter die Dornen, und die Dornen wuchsen auf und erstickten es.
8 And others fell upon good ground: and they brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, and some thirtyfold.	8 Anderes jedoch fiel auf gutes Erdreich und brachte Frucht, das eine hundertfältig, das andere sechzigfältig, das andere dreißigfältig.
9 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.	9 Wer Ohren hat, der höre!"
10 And his disciples came and said to him: Why speakest thou to them in parables?	10 Die Jünger traten hinzu und sagten zu ihm: "Warum redest du in Gleichnissen zu ihnen?"
11 Who answered and said to them: Because to you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven: but to them it is not given.	11 Er antwortete ihnen: "Weil es euch gegeben ist, die Geheimnisse des Himmelreiches zu verstehen, ihnen aber ist es nicht gegeben.
12 For he that hath, to him shall be given, and he shall abound: but he that hath not, from him shall be taken away that also which he hath.	12 Denn wer hat, dem wird gegeben werden, und er wird in Überfluß haben; wer aber nicht hat, dem wird auch das, was er hat, genommen werden.
13 Therefore do I speak to them in parables: because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.	13 Darum rede ich zu ihnen in Gleichnissen, weil sie sehen und doch nicht sehen, hören und doch nicht hören noch verstehen.
14 And the prophecy of Isaias is fulfilled in them, who saith: By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand: and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive.	14 Es wird an ihnen die Weissagung des Isaias erfüllt, die da sagt: "Hinhören werdet ihr und doch nicht verstehen; hinblicken werdet ihr und doch nicht sehen.
15 For the heart of this people is grown gross, and with their ears they have been dull of hearing, and their eyes they have shut: lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.	15 Denn das Herz des Volkes ist verstockt, und sie hören schwer mit den Ohren und verschließen ihre Augen, damit sie nicht mit den Augen sehen und mit den Ohren hören und mit dem Herzen verstehen und sich bekehren, daß ich sie heile" (Is 6,9f).
16 But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear.	16 Selig aber sind eure Augen, weil sie sehen, und eure Ohren, weil sie hören.
17 For, amen, I say to you, many prophets and just men have desired to see the things that you see, and have not seen them, and to hear the things that you hear and have not heard them.	17 Denn wahrlich, ich sage euch: Viele Propheten und Gerechte verlangten zu sehen, was ihr seht, und haben es nicht gesehen, und zu hören, was ihr hört, und haben es nicht gehört.
18 Hear you therefore the parable of the sower.	18 So hört nun ihr das Gleichnis vom Sämann:
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, there cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart: this is he that received the seed by the way side.	19 Bei jedem, der das Wort vom Reiche hört und es nicht versteht, kommt der Böse und raubt, was gesät wurde in seinem Herzen. Er ist es, bei dem auf den Weg gesät wurde.
20 And he that received the seed upon stony ground, is he that heareth the word, and immediately receiveth it with joy.	20 Bei dem auf den steinigen Boden gesät wurde, ist jener, der das Wort hört und es sogleich mit Freuden aufnimmt.
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but is only for a time: and when there ariseth tribulation and persecution because of the word, he is presently scandalized.	21 Er hat aber keine Wurzel in sich, sondern ist ein Mensch des Augenblicks; wenn um des Wortes willen Drangsal oder Verfolgung entstehen, wird es ihm sogleich zum Falle.
22 And he that received the seed among thorns, is he that heareth the word, and the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choketh up the word, and he becometh fruitless.	22 Bei dem unter die Dornen gesät wurde, ist jener, der das Wort hört; aber die Sorge der Welt und der trügerische Reichtum ersticken das Wort, und es bleibt ohne Frucht.
23 But he that received the seed upon good ground, is he that heareth the word, and understandeth, and beareth fruit, and yieldeth the one an hundredfold, and another sixty, and another thirty.	23 Bei dem auf gutes Erdreich gesät wurde, ist jener, der das Wort hört und versteht, und dieser trägt Frucht, der eine hundertfältig, der andere sechzigfältig, der andere dreißigfältig."
24 Another parable he proposed to them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man that sowed good seeds in his field.	24 Ein anderes Gleichnis legte er ihnen vor und sprach: "Das Himmelreich ist gleich einem Menschen, der guten Samen auf seinen Acker säte.
25 But while men were asleep, his enemy came and oversowed cockle among the wheat and went his way.	25 Als aber die Leute schliefen, kam sein Feind, säte Unkraut mitten unter den Weizen und ging davon.
26 And when the blade was sprung up, and had brought forth fruit, then appeared also the cockle.	26 Als nun die Saat wuchs und Frucht ansetzte, da erschien auch das Unkraut.
27 And the servants of the goodman of the house coming said to him: Sir, didst thou not sow good seed in thy field? whence then hath it cockle?	27 Da traten die Knechte des Hausherrn herzu und sagten zu ihm: Herr, hast du nicht guten Samen auf deinen Acker gesät? Woher hat er denn das Unkraut?
28 And he said to them: An enemy hath done this. And the servants said to him: Wilt thou that we go and gather it up?	28 Er sprach zu ihnen: Ein feindseliger Mensch hat das getan. Die Knechte aber sagten zu ihm: Willst du, daß wir hingehen und es sammeln?
29 And he said: No, lest perhaps gathering up the cockle, you root up the wheat also together with it.	29 Er sprach: Nein; damit ihr nicht etwa, wenn ihr das Unkraut sammelt, mit ihm zugleich den Weizen herausreißt.
30 Suffer both to grow until the harvest, and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers: Gather up first the cockle, and bind it into bundles to burn, but the wheat gather ye into my barn.	30 Laßt beides zusammen wachsen bis zur Ernte, und zur Zeit der Ernte will ich zu den Schnittern sagen: Sammelt zuerst das Unkraut und bindet es in Büschel zum Verbrennen, den Weizen aber sammelt in meine Scheuer."
31 Another parable he proposed unto them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field.	31 Ein anderes Gleichnis legte er ihnen vor und sprach: "Das Himmelreich ist gleich einem Senfkorn, das einer nahm und auf seinen Acker säte.
32 Which is the least indeed of all seeds; but when it is grown up, it is greater than all herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come, and dwell in the branches thereof.	32 Es ist zwar das kleinste unter allen Samenkörnern, wächst es aber empor, ist es größer als die Kräuter und wird zu einem Baum, so daß "die Vögel des Himmels kommen und in seinen Zweigen wohnen" (Ez 17,23; Ez 31,6)."
33 Another parable he spoke to them: The kingdom of heaven is like to leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, until the whole was leavened.	33 Ein anderes Gleichnis erzählte er ihnen: "Das Himmelreich ist gleich einem Sauerteig, den eine Frau nahm und unter drei Maß Mehl mengte, bis alles durchsäuert war."
34 All these things Jesus spoke in parables to the multitudes: and without parables he did not speak to them.	34 Dies alles redete Jesus in Gleichnissen zum Volke, und ohne Gleichnisse redete er nichts zu ihnen,
35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world.	35 damit erfüllt würde, was gesagt ist durch den Propheten: "Ich will meinen Mund auftun in Gleichnissen und aussprechen, was seit Anbeginn der Welt verborgen war" (Ps 78,2).
36 Then having sent away the multitudes, he came into the house, and his disciples came to him, saying: Expound to us the parable of the cockle of the field.	36 Darauf entließ er das Volk und ging nach Hause; da traten seine Jünger zu ihm und sagten: "Erkläre uns das Gleichnis vom Unkraut auf dem Acker!"
37 Who made answer and said to them: He that soweth the good seed, is the Son of man.	37 Er antwortete: "Der den guten Samen aussät, ist der Menschensohn.
38 And the field, is the world. And the good seed are the children of the kingdom. And the cockle, are the children of the wicked one.	38 Der Acker ist die Welt; der gute Same, das sind die Söhne des Reiches, und das Unkraut, das sind die Söhne des Bösen.
39 And the enemy that sowed them, is the devil. But the harvest is the end of the world. And the reapers are the angels.	39 Der Feind aber, der es säte, ist der Teufel. Die Ernte ist die Vollendung der Welt, und die Schnitter sind die Engel.
40 Even as cockle therefore is gathered up, and burnt with fire: so shall it be at the end of the world.	40 Wie man nun das Unkraut sammelt und im Feuer verbrennt, so wird es sein bei Vollendung der Welt.
41 The Son of man shall send his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all scandals, and them that work iniquity.	41 Der Menschensohn wird seine Engel aussenden, und sie werden zusammenholen aus seinem Reiche "alle Ärgernisse und alle, die das Böse tun" (Soph 1,3),
42 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.	42 und sie hineinwerfen in den Feuerofen; dort wird Heulen sein und Zähneknirschen.
43 Then shall the just shine as the sun, in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.	43 "Dann werden die Gerechten leuchten" (Dan 12,3) wie die Sonne im Reiche ihres Vaters. Wer Ohren hat, der höre!
44 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in a field. Which a man having found, hid it, and for joy thereof goeth, and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.	44 Das Himmelreich ist gleich einem im Acker verborgenen Schatz, den einer fand und verborgen hielt. Voll Freude geht er hin, verkauft alles, was er hat, und kauft jenen Acker.
45 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a merchant seeking good pearls.	45 Ferner ist das Himmelreich gleich einem Kaufmann, der gute Perlen sucht.
46 Who when he had found one pearl of great price, went his way, and sold all that he had, and bought it.	46 Als er eine kostbare Perle fand, ging er hin, verkaufte alles, was er hatte, und kaufte sie.
47 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a net cast into the sea, and gathering together of all kind of fishes.	47 Ferner ist das Himmelreich gleich einem Netz, das ins Meer geworfen wurde und mancherlei einfing.
48 Which, when it was filled, they drew out, and sitting by the shore, they chose out the good into vessels, but the bad they cast forth.	48 Als es gefüllt war, zog man es ans Ufer, setzte sich hin und sammelte das Gute in Gefäße, das Schlechte aber warf man weg.
49 So shall it be at the end of the world. The angels shall go out, and shall separate the wicked from among the just.	49 So wird es sein am Ende der Welt. Die Engel werden ausziehen und die Bösen absondern von den Gerechten
50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.	50 und sie hineinwerfen in den Feuerofen; dort wird Heulen sein und Zähneknirschen.
51 Have ye understood all these things? They say to him: Yes.	51 Habt ihr das alles verstanden?" Sie erwiderten ihm: "Ja."
52 He said unto them: Therefore every scribe instructed in the kingdom of heaven, is like to a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure new things and old.	52 Und er sprach zu ihnen: "Darum ist jeder Schriftgelehrte, der durch die Schule des Himmelreiches ging, einem Hausvater gleich, der aus seinem Schatz Neues und Altes hervorholt."
53 And it came to pass: when Jesus had finished these parables, he passed from thence.	53 Es begab sich, als Jesus diese Gleichnisse beendet hatte, zog er von da weiter,
54 And coming into his own country, he taught them in their synagogues, so that they wondered and said: How came this man by this wisdom and miracles?	54 und als er in seine Vaterstadt kam, lehrte er sie in ihrer Synagoge, so daß sie voll Verwunderung sagten: "Woher hat er diese Weisheit und die Wunder?
55 Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Jude:	55 Ist er nicht des Zimmermanns Sohn? Heißt nicht seine Mutter Maria? Und seine Brüder Jakobus, Joseph, Simon und Judas?
56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence therefore hath he all these things?	56 Und sind nicht alle seine Schwestern bei uns? Woher nun hat er dies alles?" Und sie nahmen Anstoß an ihm.
57 And they were scandalized in his regard. But Jesus said to them: A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.	57 Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: "Ein Prophet ist nirgends so wenig geachtet wie in seiner Vaterstadt und in seinem Hause."
58 And he wrought not many miracles there, because of their unbelief.	58 Und er wirkte dort nicht viele Wunder, ihres Unglaubens wegen.
