1 There is also another evil, which I have seen under the sun, and that frequent among men:	1 C'è anche un altro guaio da me visto sotto il sole, e frequente tra gli uomini.
2 A man to whom God hath given riches, and substance, and honour, and his soul wanteth nothing of all that he desireth: yet God doth not give him power to eat thereof, but a stranger shall eat it up. This is vanity and a great misery.	2 Uno a cui Dio ha dato ricchezze, beni e gloria, a cui nulla manca di ciò che può desiderare, Dio poi non gli permette di goderne, ed un estraneo gli divora ogni cosa. Questo è vanità e miseria grande.
3 If a man beget a hundred children, and live many years, and attain to a great age, and his soul make no use of the goods of his substance, and he be without burial: of this man I pronounce, that the untimely born is better than he.	3 Se uno a vrà avuti cento figlioli, e sarà vissuto molti anni, fino all'età decrepita, e non avrà goduto i suoi boni, se poi è privo di sepoltura, io riguardo a lui sentenzio che un aborto sta meglio di lui;
4 For he came in vain, and goeth to darkness, and his name shall be wholly forgotten.	4 perchè (l'aborto) nato invano, se ne va nel buio, il suo nome è sepolto nell'oblìo;
5 He hath not seen the sun, nor known the distance of good and evil:	5 non ha visto il sole e non conosce la differenza tra il bene e il male.
6 Although he lived two thousand years, and hath not enjoyed good things: do not all make haste to one place?	6 Anche se fosse vissuto due mila anni, se non ha goduti i beni, non corrono forse tutte le cose verso lo stesso luogo?
7 All the labour of man is for his mouth, but his soul shall not be filled.	7 Tutta la fatica dell'uomo va per la sua bocca, eppure egli non sarà sazio.
8 What hath the wise man more than the fool? and what the poor man, but to go thither, where there is life?	8 Qual vantaggio ha il saggio sullo stolto? Qual vantaggio ha il povero, se non di poter andare dove è la vita?
9 Better it is to see what thou mayst desire, than to desire that which thou canst not know. But this also is vanity, and presumption of spirit.	9 Meglio è vedere ciò che brami, che desiderare ciò che ignori. Ma anche questo è vanità e presunzione di spirito.
10 He that shall be, his name is already called: and it is known, that he is man, and cannot contend in judgment with him that is stronger than himself.	10 Chi deve essere ha già ricevuto il nome, e si sa che egli è uomo, e quindi non può contendere in giudizio contro chi ne può più di lui.
11 There are many words that have much vanity in disputing.	11 Si moltiplican le parole, e nella disputa son molto vane.
