Proverbs 12

1 He that loveth correction, loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is foolish.	1 Celui qui aime la correction aime la science; mais celui qui hait les réprimandes est un insensé.
2 He that is good, shall draw grace from the Lord : but he that trusteth in his own devices doth wickedly.	2 Celui qui est bon puisera la grâce du Seigneur; mais celui qui met sa confiance en ses propres pensées agit en impie.
3 Men shall not be strengthened by wickedness: and the root of the just shall not be moved.	3 L'homme ne s'affermira point par l'impiété; mais la racine des justes sera inébranlable.
4 A diligent woman is a crown to her husband: and she that doth things worthy of confusion, is a rottenness in his bones.	4 La femme diligente est la couronne de son mari; mais celle qui fait des choses dignes de confusion est comme la pourriture dans ses os.
5 The thoughts of the just are judgments: and the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.	5 Les pensées des justes ne sont qu'équité; mais les desseins des impies ne sont que malice.
6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood: the mouth of the just shall deliver them.	6 Les paroles des impies sont des embûches pour verser le sang; la bouche des justes les délivrera.
7 Turn the wicked, and they shall not be: but the house of the just shall stand firm.	7 Retourne les impies, et ils ne sont plus; mais la maison des justes demeurera.
8 A man shall be known by his learning: but he that is vain and foolish, shall be exposed to contempt.	8 L'homme sera connu par sa doctrine; mais celui qui est vain et dénué de sens sera un objet de mépris.
9 Better is the poor man that provideth for himself, than he that is glorious and wanteth bread.	9 Mieux vaut le pauvre qui se suffit, que le glorieux qui manque de pain.
10 The just regardeth the lives of his beasts: but the bowels of the wicked are cruel.	10 Le juste se met en peine de la vie de son bétail; mais les entrailles des impies sont cruelles.
11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that pursueth idleness is very foolish. He that is delighted in passing his time over wine, leaveth a reproach in his strong holds.	11 Celui qui cultive sa terre sera rassasié de pain; mais celui qui recherche le repos est très insensé. Celui qui met ses délices dans les réunions où l'on boit du vin, laissera la honte dans ses places fortes.
12 The desire of the wicked is the fortification of evil men: but the root of the just shall prosper.	12 Le désir de l'impie c'est l'affranchissement des méchants; mais la racine des justes prospérera.
13 For the sins of the lips ruin draweth nigh to the evil mall: but the just shall escape out of distress.	13 Par les péchés de ses lèvres le méchant s'attire la ruine; mais le juste échappera à l'angoisse.
14 By the fruit of his own mouth shall a man be filled with good things, and according to the works of his hands it shall be repaid him.	14 C'est par le fruit de sa bouche que l'homme sera rempli de biens, et il lui sera rendu selon les oeuvres de ses mains.
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsels.	15 La voie de l'insensé est droite à ses yeux; mais celui qui est sage écoute les conseils.
16 A fool immediately sheweth his anger: but he that dissembleth injuries is wise.	16 L'insensé manifeste aussitôt sa colère; mais celui qui dissimule l'injure est habile.
17 He that speaketh that which he knoweth, sheweth forth justice: but he that lieth, is a deceitful witness.	17 Celui qui parle de ce qu'il sait proclame la justice; mais celui qui ment est un témoin trompeur.
18 There is that promiseth, and is pricked as it were with a sword of conscience: but the tongue of the wise is health.	18 Tel promet qui est ensuite percé comme d'un glaive par sa conscience; mais la langue des sages est une source de santé.
19 The lip of truth shall be steadfast for ever: but he that is a hasty witness, frameth a lying tongue.	19 La bouche véridique sera toujours ferme; mais le témoin précipité se fait une langue de mensonge.
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that think evil things: but joy followeth them that take counsels of peace.	20 La fourberie est au coeur de ceux qui méditent le mal; mais ceux qui forment des conseils de paix seront dans la joie.
21 Whatsoever shall befall the just man. it shall not make him sad: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.	21 Quoi qu'il lui arrive, le juste n'en est point attristé, mais les impies seront remplis de maux.
22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord: but they that deal faithfully please him.	22 Les lèvres menteuses sont en abomination au Seigneur; mais ceux qui agissent sincèrement Lui sont agréables.
23 A cautious man concealeth knowledge: and the heart of fools publisheth folly.	23 L'homme habile cache sa science, et le coeur de l'insensé proclame la folie.
24 The hand of the valiant shall bear rule: but that which is slothful, shall be under tribute.	24 La main des forts dominera; mais celle qui est relâchée sera tributaire.
25 Grief in the heart of a man shall bring him low, but with a good word he shall be made glad.	25 La tristesse qu'il a au coeur humiliera l'homme, et une bonne parole le réjouira.
26 He that neglecteth a loss for the sake of a friend, is just: but the way of the wicked shall deceive them.	26 Celui qui, pour son ami, s'inquiète peu d'une perte, est juste; mais le chemin des impies les égarera.
27 The deceitful man shall not find gain: but the substance of a just man shall be precious gold.	27 Le trompeur ne trouvera pas de profit, et les richesses de l'homme juste auront le prix de l'or.
28 In the path of justice is life: but the by-way leadeth to death.	28 Dans le sentier de la justice est la vie; mais le chemin détourné conduit à la mort.
