¹ He that loveth correction, loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is foolish.	¹ Qui aime la discipline aime le savoir, qui hait la réprimande est stupide.
² He that is good, shall draw grace from the Lord : but he that trusteth in his own devices doth wickedly.	² L'homme de bien attire la faveur de Yahvé, mais l'homme malintentionné, celui-ci le condamne.
³ Men shall not be strengthened by wickedness: and the root of the just shall not be moved.	³ On ne s'affermit pas par la méchanceté, mais rien n'ébranle la racine des justes.
⁴ A diligent woman is a crown to her husband: and she that doth things worthy of confusion, is a rottenness in his bones.	⁴ Une maîtresse femme est la couronne de son mari, mais une femme indigne est comme une cariedans ses os.
⁵ The thoughts of the just are judgments: and the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.	⁵ Les desseins du juste sont équité, les machinations du méchant, tromperie.
⁶ The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood: the mouth of the just shall deliver them.	⁶ Les paroles des méchants sont des pièges de sang, mais la bouche des hommes droits les délivre.
⁷ Turn the wicked, and they shall not be: but the house of the just shall stand firm.	⁷ Jetés bas, les méchants ne sont plus, la maison des justes subsiste.
⁸ A man shall be known by his learning: but he that is vain and foolish, shall be exposed to contempt.	⁸ On fait l'éloge d'un homme selon son bon sens, le coeur tortueux est en butte aux affronts.
⁹ Better is the poor man that provideth for himself, than he that is glorious and wanteth bread.	⁹ Mieux vaut un homme du commun qui a un serviteur qu'un homme qui se glorifie et manque depain.
¹⁰ The just regardeth the lives of his beasts: but the bowels of the wicked are cruel.	¹⁰ Le juste connaît les besoins de ses bêtes, mais les entrailles du méchant sont cruelles.
¹¹ He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that pursueth idleness is very foolish. He that is delighted in passing his time over wine, leaveth a reproach in his strong holds.	¹¹ Qui cultive sa terre sera rassasié de pain, qui poursuit des chimères est dépourvu de sens.
¹² The desire of the wicked is the fortification of evil men: but the root of the just shall prosper.	¹² L'impie se plaît au filet des méchants, mais la racine des justes rapporte.
¹³ For the sins of the lips ruin draweth nigh to the evil mall: but the just shall escape out of distress.	¹³ Dans le forfait des lèvres, il y a un piège funeste, mais le juste se tire de la détresse.
¹⁴ By the fruit of his own mouth shall a man be filled with good things, and according to the works of his hands it shall be repaid him.	¹⁴ Par le fruit de sa bouche l'homme se rassasie de ce qui est bon, on reçoit la récompense de sesoeuvres.
¹⁵ The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsels.	¹⁵ Le chemin du fou est droit à ses propres yeux, mais le sage écoute le conseil.
¹⁶ A fool immediately sheweth his anger: but he that dissembleth injuries is wise.	¹⁶ Le fou manifeste son dépit sur l'heure, mais l'homme habile dissimule le mépris.
¹⁷ He that speaketh that which he knoweth, sheweth forth justice: but he that lieth, is a deceitful witness.	¹⁷ Celui qui révèle la vérité proclame la justice, le faux témoin n'est que tromperie.
¹⁸ There is that promiseth, and is pricked as it were with a sword of conscience: but the tongue of the wise is health.	¹⁸ Tel qui parle étourdiment blesse comme une épée, la langue des sages guérit.
¹⁹ The lip of truth shall be steadfast for ever: but he that is a hasty witness, frameth a lying tongue.	¹⁹ La lèvre sincère est affermie pour jamais, mais pour un instant la langue trompeuse.
²⁰ Deceit is in the heart of them that think evil things: but joy followeth them that take counsels of peace.	²⁰ Au coeur qui médite le mal: la fraude; aux conseillers pacifiques: la joie.
²¹ Whatsoever shall befall the just man. it shall not make him sad: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.	²¹ Au juste n'échoit nul mécompte, mais les méchants sont comblés de malheur.
²² Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord: but they that deal faithfully please him.	²² Abomination pour Yahvé: des lèvres menteuses; il aime ceux qui pratiquent la vérité.
²³ A cautious man concealeth knowledge: and the heart of fools publisheth folly.	²³ L'homme avisé cèle son savoir, le coeur des sots publie sa folie.
²⁴ The hand of the valiant shall bear rule: but that which is slothful, shall be under tribute.	²⁴ A la main diligente le commandement, la main nonchalante aura la corvée.
²⁵ Grief in the heart of a man shall bring him low, but with a good word he shall be made glad.	²⁵ Une peine au coeur de l'homme le déprime, mais une bonne parole le réjouit.
²⁶ He that neglecteth a loss for the sake of a friend, is just: but the way of the wicked shall deceive them.	²⁶ Un juste montre la voie à son compagnon, la voie des méchants les égare.
²⁷ The deceitful man shall not find gain: but the substance of a just man shall be precious gold.	²⁷ L'indolence ne rôtit pas son gibier, mais la diligence est une précieuse ressource de l'homme.
²⁸ In the path of justice is life: but the by-way leadeth to death.	²⁸ Sur le sentier de la justice: la vie; le chemin des pervers mène à la mort.
