DOUAI-RHEIMSLXX
Then Baldad the Suhite answered, and said:1 υπολαβων δε βαλδαδ ο σαυχιτης λεγει
How long will you throw out words? understand first, and so let us speak.2 μεχρι τινος ου παυση επισχες ινα και αυτοι λαλησωμεν
Why are we reputed as beasts, and counted vile before you?3 δια τι ωσπερ τετραποδα σεσιωπηκαμεν εναντιον σου
Thou that destroyest thy soul in thy fury, shall the earth be forsaken for thee, and shall rocks be removed out of their place?4 κεχρηται σοι οργη τι γαρ εαν συ αποθανης αοικητος η υπ' ουρανον η καταστραφησεται ορη εκ θεμελιων
Shall not the light of the wicked be extinguished, and the flame of his fire not shine?5 και φως ασεβων σβεσθησεται και ουκ αποβησεται αυτων η φλοξ
The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and the lamp that is over him, shall be put out.6 το φως αυτου σκοτος εν διαιτη ο δε λυχνος επ' αυτω σβεσθησεται
The step of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down headlong.7 θηρευσαισαν ελαχιστοι τα υπαρχοντα αυτου σφαλαι δε αυτου η βουλη
For he hath thrust his feet into a net, and walketh in its meshes.8 εμβεβληται δε ο πους αυτου εν παγιδι εν δικτυω ελιχθειη
The sole of his foot shall be held in a snare, and thirst shall burn against him.9 ελθοισαν δε επ' αυτον παγιδες κατισχυσει επ' αυτον διψωντας
A gin is hidden for him in the earth, and his trap upon the path.10 κεκρυπται εν τη γη σχοινιον αυτου και η συλλημψις αυτου επι τριβων
Fears shall terrify him on every side, and shall entangle his feet.11 κυκλω ολεσαισαν αυτον οδυναι πολλοι δε περι ποδας αυτου ελθοισαν εν λιμω στενω
Let his strength be wasted with famine, and let hunger invade his ribs.12 πτωμα δε αυτω ητοιμασται εξαισιον
Let it devour the beauty of his skin, let the firstborn death consume his arms.13 βρωθειησαν αυτου κλωνες ποδων κατεδεται δε τα ωραια αυτου θανατος
Let his confidence be rooted out of his tabernacle, and let destruction tread upon him like a king.14 εκραγειη δε εκ διαιτης αυτου ιασις σχοιη δε αυτον αναγκη αιτια βασιλικη
Let the companions of him that is not, dwell in his tabernacle, let brimstone be sprinkled in his tent.15 κατασκηνωσει εν τη σκηνη αυτου εν νυκτι αυτου κατασπαρησονται τα ευπρεπη αυτου θειω
Let his roots be dried up beneath, and his harvest destroyed above.16 υποκατωθεν αι ριζαι αυτου ξηρανθησονται και επανωθεν επιπεσειται θερισμος αυτου
Let the memory of him perish from the earth and let not his name be renowned in the streets.17 το μνημοσυνον αυτου απολοιτο εκ γης και υπαρχει ονομα αυτω επι προσωπον εξωτερω
He shall drive him out of light into darkness, and shall remove him out of the world.18 απωσειεν αυτον εκ φωτος εις σκοτος
His seed shall not subsist, nor his offspring among his people, nor any remnants in his country.19 ουκ εσται επιγνωστος εν λαω αυτου ουδε σεσωσμενος εν τη υπ' ουρανον ο οικος αυτου αλλ' εν τοις αυτου ζησονται ετεροι
They that come after him shall be astonished at his day, and horror shall fall upon them that went before.20 επ' αυτω εστεναξαν εσχατοι πρωτους δε εσχεν θαυμα
These men are the tabernacles of the wicked, and this the place of him that knoweth not God.21 ουτοι εισιν οικοι αδικων ουτος δε ο τοπος των μη ειδοτων τον κυριον
