EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Señor todopoderoso, Dios de Israel, es un alma angustiada y un espíritu acongojado el que grita hacia ti.	1 Almighty Lord, God of Israel, a soul in anguish, a troubled heart now cries to you:
2 Escucha, Señor, y ten piedad, porque hemos pecado contra ti.	2 Listen and have pity, Lord, for we have sinned before you.
3 Tú permaneces para siempre, mientras que nosotros perecemos para siempre.	3 You sit enthroned for ever, while we are perishing for ever.
4 Señor todopoderoso, Dios de Israel, escucha la plegaria de los muertos de Israel, de los hijos de aquellos que han pecado contra ti y no han escuchado la voz del Señor, su Dios, por lo que han caído sobre nosotros estas calamidades.	4 Almighty Lord, God of Israel, hear the prayer of the dead of Israel, of the children of those who havesinned against you and have not listened to the voice of the Lord their God; hence the disasters which dog us.
5 No te acuerdes de las injusticias de nuestros padres, sino acuérdate en este momento de tu mano y de tu Nombre.	5 Do not cal to mind the misdeeds of our ancestors, but remember instead your power and your name.
6 Porque tú eres el Señor, nuestro Dios, y nosotros te alabaremos, Señor .	6 You are indeed the Lord our God and we wil praise you, Lord,
7 Sí, tú has infundido tu temor en nuestro corazón, para que invocáramos tu Nombre, y nosotros te alabaremos en nuestro exilio, porque hemos arrojado de nuestro corazón toda la injusticia de nuestros padres que pecaron contra ti.	7 since you have put respect for you in our hearts to encourage us to cal on your name. We long topraise you in our exile, for we have rid our hearts of the wickedness of our ancestors who sinned against you.
8 Aquí estamos hoy en la tierra de nuestro exilio donde tú nos has dispersado, soportando el oprobio, la maldición y la condena, por todas las injusticias de nuestros padres, que se apartaron del Señor, nuestro Dios.	8 Look, today we are still in exile where you have scattered us as something contemptible, accursed,condemned, for al the misdeeds of our ancestors who had abandoned the Lord our God.
9 Escucha, Israel, los mandamientos de vida; presta atención para aprender a discernir.	9 Listen, Israel, to commands that bring life; hear, and learn what knowledge means.
10 ¿Por qué, Israel, estás en un país de enemigos y has envejecido en una tierra extranjera?	10 Why, Israel, why are you in the country of your enemies, growing older and older in an alien land,
11 ¿Por qué te has contaminado con los muertos, contándote entre los que bajan al Abismo?	11 defiling yourselves with the dead, reckoned with those who go to Sheol?
12 ¡Tú has abandonado la fuente de la sabiduría!	12 It is because you have forsaken the fountain of wisdom!
13 Si hubieras seguido el camino de Dios, vivirías en paz para siempre.	13 Had you walked in the way of God, you would be living in peace for ever.
14 Aprende dónde está el discernimiento, dónde está la fuerza y dónde la inteligencia, para conocer al mismo tiempo dónde está la longevidad y la vida, dónde la luz de los ojos y la paz.	14 Learn where knowledge is, where strength, where understanding, and so learn where length of days is,where life, where the light of the eyes and where peace.
15 ¿Quién ha encontrado el lugar de la Sabiduría, quién ha penetrado en sus tesoros?	15 But who has found out where she lives, who has entered her treasure house?
16 ¿Dónde están los jefes de las naciones, los que dominaban las bestias de la tierra	16 Where now are the leaders of the nations and those who ruled even the beasts of earth,
17 y se divertían con las aves del cielo; los que atesoraban la plata y el oro, en los que los hombres ponen su confianza, y cuyas posesiones no tenían límite;	17 those who sported with the birds of heaven, those who accumulated silver and gold on which alpeople rely, and whose possessions had no end,
18 los que trabajaban la plata con tanto cuidado, que sus obras sobrepasan la imaginación?	18 those who worked so carefully in silver -but of whose works no trace is to be found?
19 Ellos han desaparecido, han bajado al Abismo, y han surgido otros en su lugar.	19 They have vanished, gone down to Sheol. Others have risen to their places,
20 Otros más jóvenes han visto la luz y han habitado sobre la tierra, pero no han conocido el camino de la ciencia,	20 more recent generations have seen the day and peopled the earth in their turn, but the way ofknowledge they have not found;
21 no han comprendido sus senderos. Tampoco sus hijos la han alcanzado y se han alejado de sus caminos.	21 they have not recognised the paths she treads. Nor have their children had any grasp of her, remainingfar from her way.
22 No se oyó nada de ella en Canaán, ni se la vio en Temán.	22 Nothing has been heard of her in Canaan, nothing has been seen of her in Teman;
23 Ni siquiera los hijos de Agar, que buscan la ciencia sobre la tierra, ni los mercaderes de Merrán y de Temán, inventores de fábulas y buscadores de inteligencia, han conocido el camino de la sabiduría, ni se han acordado de sus senderos.	23 the children of Hagar in search of worldly wisdom, the merchants of Midian and Teman, the tale-spinners and the philosophers have none of them found the way to wisdom or remembered the paths shetreads.
24 ¡Qué grande, Israel, es la morada de Dios, qué extenso es el lugar de su dominio!	24 How great, Israel, is the house of God, how wide his domain,
25 ¡Es grande y no tiene fin, excelso y sin medida!	25 immeasurably wide, infinitely lofty!
26 Allí nacieron los famosos gigantes de los primeros tiempos, de gran estatura y expertos en la guerra.	26 In it were born the giants, famous from the beginning, immensely tal , expert in war;
27 Pero no fue a ellos a quienes Dios eligió y les dio el camino de la ciencia;	27 God's choice did not fall on these, he did not show them the way of knowledge;
28 ellos perecieron por su falta de discernimiento, perecieron por su insensatez.	28 they perished for lack of wisdom, perished by their own folly.
29 ¿Quién subió al cielo para tomarla y hacerla bajar de las nubes?	29 Who has ever climbed the sky and seized her to bring her down from the clouds?
30 ¿Quién atravesó el mar para encontrarla y traerla a precio de oro fino?	30 Who has ever crossed the ocean and found her to bring her back in exchange for the finest gold?
31 Nadie conoce su camino, ni puede comprender su sendero.	31 No one can learn the way to her, no one can understand the path she treads.
32 Pero el que todo lo sabe, la conoce, la penetró con su inteligencia; el que formó la tierra para siempre, y la llenó de animales cuadrúpedos;	32 But the One who knows al discovers her, he has grasped her with his own intel ect, he has set theearth firm for evermore and filled it with four-footed beasts,
33 el que envía la luz, y ella sale, la llama, y ella obedece temblando.	33 he sends the light -- and it goes, he recal s it -- and trembling it obeys;
34 Las estrellas brillan alegres en sus puestos de guardia:	34 the stars shine joyful y at their posts;

37 El penetró todos los caminos de la ciencia y se la dio a Jacob, su servidor, y a Israel, su predilecto.	37 He has uncovered the whole way of knowledge and shown it to his servant Jacob, to Israel his wel -beloved;
38 Después de esto apareció sobre la tierra, y vivió entre los hombres.	38 only then did she appear on earth and live among human beings.
