1 Les chefs de famille des Lévites s’approchèrent du prêtre Éléazar, de Josué fils de Noun et des chefs de clans des tribus d’Israël	1 And the leaders of the families of Levi approached Eleazar, the priest, and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the rulers of the extended families of each of the tribes of the sons of Israel.
2 à Silo, au pays de Canaan, et ils leur dirent: “Yahvé a ordonné par la voix de Moïse de nous donner des villes pour y habiter et des pâturages pour notre bétail.”	2 And they spoke to them at Shiloh, in the land of Canaan, and they said, “The Lord instructed, by the hand of Moses, that cities should be given to us as habitations, with their suburbs to nourish our cattle.”
3 Les Israélites donnèrent donc aux Lévites sur leur part, selon l’ordre de Yahvé, les villes suivantes avec leurs pâturages.	3 And so the sons of Israel gave cities and their suburbs from their possessions, in accord with the order of the Lord.
4 On tira au sort pour les clans des Kahatites, lévites fils du prêtre Aaron. Ils reçurent 13 villes dans les tribus de Juda, de Siméon et de Benjamin.	4 And the lot went out for the family of Kohath, of the sons of Aaron, the priest, from the tribes of Judah and Simeon and Benjamin: thirteen cities.
5 Les autres fils de Kahat reçurent selon leurs clans, 10 villes dans les tribus d’Éphraïm, de Dan et dans la demi-tribu de Manassé.	5 And to the remainder of the sons of Kohath, that is, to the Levites who were left over, there went, from the tribes of Ephraim and Dan, and from the one half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.
6 Les fils de Guerchon reçurent selon leurs clans 13 villes dans les tribus d’Issacar, d’Asher, de Nephtali et dans la demi-tribu de Manassé installée au Bashan.	6 And next the lot went out to the sons of Gershon, so that they would receive, from the tribes of Issachar and Asher and Naphtali, and from the one half tribe of Manasseh at Bashan: the number of thirteen cities.
7 Les fils de Mérari reçurent selon leurs clans 12 villes dans les tribus de Ruben, de Gad et de Zabulon.	7 And to the sons of Merari, by their families, from the tribes of Reuben and Gad and Zebulun, there went twelve cities.
8 Les Israélites attribuèrent donc par le sort ces villes et ces pâturages aux Lévites, comme Yahvé l’avait ordonné par la bouche de Moïse.	8 And so the sons of Israel gave cities and their suburbs to the Levites, just as the Lord instructed by the hand of Moses, distributing to each by lot.
9 Voici les noms des villes qu’ils donnèrent dans la tribu de Juda et dans la tribu de Siméon.	9 From the tribes of the sons of Judah and Simeon, Joshua gave cities, whose names are these:
10 La première part fut pour les fils d’Aaron appartenant au clan des Kahatites, de la tribu de Lévi.	10 to the sons of Aaron, of the families of Kohath of the stock of Levi, (for the first lot went out for them,)
11 Dans la montagne de Juda, ils leur donnèrent Kiryat-Arba avec ses pâturages, c’était la ville du père d’Anak (aujourd’hui c’est Hébron).	11 the city of Arba, the father of Anak, which is called Hebron, on the mountain of Judah, and its surrounding suburbs.
12 Mais ils donnèrent en propriété à Caleb, fils de Yéfouné la campagne de cette ville et ses villages.	12 Yet truly, the fields and its villages he had given to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, as a possession.
13 Ils donnèrent aux fils du prêtre Aaron, Hébron et ses pâturages (Hébron était une ville de refuge pour les meurtriers), Libna et ses pâturages,	13 Therefore, he gave to the sons of Aaron the priest, Hebron as a city of refuge, as well as its suburbs, and Libnah, with its suburbs,
14 Yattir et ses pâturages, Echtémoa et ses pâturages,	14 and Jattir, and Eshtemoa,

16 Achan et ses pâturages, Youta et ses pâturages et Beth-Chémech et ses pâturages: 9 villes prises dans ces deux tribus.	16 and Ain, and Juttah, and Beth-shemesh, with their suburbs: nine cities from two tribes, just as has been said.
17 De la tribu de Benjamin: Gabaon et ses pâturages, Guéba et ses pâturages,	17 Then, from the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, he gave Gibeon, and Geba,
18 Anatot et ses pâturages et Almon et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	18 and Anathoth, and Almon, with their suburbs: four cities.
19 Le total des villes pour les prêtres, fils d’Aaron, fut de 13 villes avec leurs pâturages.	19 All the cities together of the sons of Aaron, the priest, were thirteen, with their suburbs.
20 Pour les autres clans des fils de Kahat, pour les Lévites qui restaient parmi les fils de Kahat, on prit des villes sur la tribu d’Éphraïm.	20 Yet truly, the remainder of the families of the sons of Kohath, of the stock of Levi, were given this possession:
21 On leur donna Sichem et ses pâturages, dans la montagne d’Éphraïm (c’était une ville de refuge pour les meurtriers), Guézer et ses pâturages,	21 from the tribe of Ephraim, Shechem, one of the cities of refuge, with its suburbs, on mount Ephraim, and Gezer,
22 Kibsayim et ses pâturages et Beth-Horon et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	22 and Kibzaim, and Beth-horon, with their suburbs, four cities;
23 Dans la tribu de Dan: Elteké et ses pâturages, Guibéton et ses pâturages,	23 and from the tribe of Dan, Elteke and Gibbethon,
24 Ayyalon et ses pâturages et Gat-Rimmon et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	24 and Aijalon and Gath-Rimmon, with their suburbs, four cities;
25 Dans la demi-tribu de Manassé: Tanak et ses pâturages et Yibléam et ses pâturages: deux villes.	25 then, from the one half tribe of Manasseh, Taanach and Gath-Rimmon, with their suburbs, two cities.
26 Le total fut de 10 villes avec leurs pâturages pour les clans qui restaient parmi les fils de Kahat.	26 All the cities were ten, with their suburbs; these were given to the sons of Kohath, of the lesser degree.
27 Aux fils de Guerchon qui appartenaient au clan de Lévi, on donna Golan en Bashan (c’était une ville de refuge pour les meurtriers) et Achtarot avec leurs pâturages, dans la demi-tribu de Manassé: deux villes.	27 Likewise, to the sons of Gershon, of the stock of Levi, from the one half tribe of Manasseh, went Golan in Bashan, one of the cities of refuge, and Bosra, with their suburbs, two cities;
28 Dans la tribu d’Issacar: Kichyon et ses pâturages, Dabérat et ses pâturages,	28 also, from the tribe of Issachar, Kishion, and Daberath,
29 Yarmout et ses pâturages et En-Gannim et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	29 and Jarmuth, and Engannim, with their suburbs, four cities;
30 Dans la tribu d’Asher: Michéal et ses pâturages, Abdon et ses pâturages,	30 then, from the tribe of Asher, Mishal and Abdon,
31 Helkat et ses pâturages et Réhob et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	31 and Helkath and Rehob, with their suburbs, four cities;
32 Dans la tribu de Nephtali: Qédesh en Galilée (c’était une ville de refuge pour les meurtriers) et ses pâturages, Hammot-Dor et ses pâturages et Kartan et ses pâturages: trois villes.	32 likewise, from the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee, one of the cities of refuge, and Hammoth-Dor, and Kartan, with their suburbs, three cities.
33 Le total des villes pour les clans de Guerchon fut de 13 villes et leurs pâturages.	33 All the cities of the families of Gershon were thirteen, with their suburbs.
34 On attribua au clan des fils de Mérari, au reste des Lévites, dans la tribu de Zabulon: Yoknéam et ses pâturages, Karta et ses pâturages,	34 Then, to the sons of Merari, Levites of the lesser degree, by their families, were given, from the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam and Kartah,
35 Rimmon et ses pâturages et Nahalal et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	35 and Dimnah and Nahalal, four cities with their suburbs;
36 De l’autre côté du Jourdain, en face de Jéricho, dans la tribu de Ruben: Béser dans le désert, sur le plateau (c’était une ville de refuge pour les meurtriers) et ses pâturages, Yahas et ses pâturages,	36 from the tribe of Reuben, beyond the Jordan, opposite Jericho, Bezer in the wilderness, one of the cities of refuge, Misor and Jazer, and Jethson and Mephaath, four cities with their suburbs;
37 Kédémot et ses pâturages et Méfaat et ses pâturages: quatre villes.	37 from the tribe of Gad, Ramoth of Gilead, one of the cities of refuge, and Mahanaim and Heshbon and Jazer, four cities with their suburbs.

40 Le total des villes qui furent attribuées au clan des fils de Mérari, le reste des clans de Lévi, fut de 12 villes.	40 with their suburbs, each distributed by families.
41 Le nombre total des villes attribuées aux Lévites au milieu des territoires des Israélites était de 48 villes avec leurs pâturages.	41 And the Lord God gave to Israel all the land that he had sworn he would deliver to their fathers. And they possessed it, and they lived in it.
42 Ces villes comprenaient chacune la ville et les pâturages qui l’entouraient, il en était ainsi pour toutes les villes.	42 And he gave them peace with all the surrounding nations. And none of their enemies dared to stand against them; instead, they were brought under their sovereignty.
43 Ainsi Yahvé donna aux Israélites tout le pays qu’il avait juré à leurs pères de leur donner, ils en prirent possession et s’y installèrent.	43 Indeed, not so much as one word that he had promised to provide for them was left empty; instead, everything was fulfilled.
44 Yahvé leur accorda la paix sur toutes leurs frontières, comme il l’avait juré à leurs pères, et aucun de leurs ennemis ne put tenir devant eux. Yahvé livra entre leurs mains tous leurs ennemis.
45 Aucune des promesses que Yahvé avait faites à la maison d’Israël ne fut oubliée: tout se réalisa.
