1 Je n’ai pas besoin de vous écrire longuement au sujet du service d’aide aux saints, à nos frères.	1 Now, concerning the ministry that is done toward the saints, it is not necessary for me to write to you.
2 Je sais vos bonnes dispositions et j’ai fait votre éloge chez les Macédoniens, disant que ceux d’Achaïe étaient prêts depuis longtemps. Et votre élan a stimulé beaucoup d’entre eux.	2 For I know your willing mind. I glory about you, concerning this, to the Macedonians. For Achaia has also been prepared, for the past year. And your example has inspired very many others.
3 Maintenant j’ai envoyé ces frères pour qu’on vous trouve prêts comme je l’ai affirmé; il ne faudrait pas démentir le bien que j’ai dit de vous sur ce point.	3 Now I have sent the brothers, so that what we glory about concerning you might be not be empty in this matter, in order that (as I have explained) you may be prepared.
4 Imaginez que les Macédoniens viennent avec moi et ne vous trouvent pas prêts: quelle honte pour moi et aussi pour vous!	4 Otherwise, if the Macedonians arrive with me and find you unprepared, we (not to mention you) would be ashamed in this matter.
5 Il m’a donc paru nécessaire de dire à ces frères qu’ils me précèdent chez vous pour organiser cette œuvre bénie dont nous avons parlé. Car il faut la préparer comme une largesse et non comme une aumône.	5 Therefore, I considered it necessary to ask the brothers to go to you in advance and to prepare this blessing as promised, and in this way, you may be ready as a blessing, not as an excess.
6 Une chose est sûre: celui qui sème pauvrement fera une pauvre récolte. Celui qui sème largement fera une grande récolte.	6 But I say this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. And whoever sows with blessings shall also reap from blessings:
7 Que chacun donc décide personnellement, sans contrainte et sans regret, car Dieu aime celui qui donne joyeusement.	7 each one giving, just as he has determined in his heart, neither out of sadness, nor out of obligation. For God loves a cheerful giver.
8 Et Dieu est capable de vous bénir de mille manières, de sorte que vous ne manquiez jamais de rien et puissiez multiplier vos bonnes œuvres,	8 And God is able to make every grace abound in you, so that, always having what you need in all things, you may abound unto every good work,
9 comme dit l’Écriture: Il a donné de tous les côtés à ceux qui avaient faim; ses mérites sont là pour toujours.	9 just as it was written: “He has distributed widely, he has given to the poor; his justice remains from age to age.”
10 Celui qui procure au semeur la semence, et ensuite le pain qu’il mange, vous procurera la semence et la multipliera; et il fera croître ces rejetons de vos vertus.	10 And he who ministers seed to the sower will offer you bread to eat, and will multiply your seed, and will increase the growth of the fruits of your justice.
11 Soyez riches de tout pour donner sans compter, et nous en ferons une action de grâces à Dieu.	11 So then, having been enriched in all things, you may abound in all simplicity, which works thanksgiving to God through us.
12 Car ce service d’entraide fera plus que soulager la pauvreté des saints: il fera monter vers Dieu de nombreuses actions de grâces.	12 For the ministration of this office not only supplies whatever the saints need, but also abounds through many thanksgivings in the Lord.
13 Ce service leur sera une preuve: ils rendront grâces à Dieu parce que vous obéissez à la foi selon l’Évangile du Christ et parce que vous partagez sans compter avec eux et avec tous.	13 And so, through the evidence of this ministry, you glorify God by the obedience of your confession in the Gospel of Christ, and by the simplicity of your communion with them and with everyone,
14 Ils vous sauront gré de ce que la grâce de Dieu a agi en vous, et ils prieront pour vous.	14 and they offer prayers for you, being solicitous about you, because of the excellent grace of God within you.
15 Que Dieu soit béni pour ce don plus grand qu’on ne saurait dire.	15 Thanks be to God for his ineffable gift.
