1 Voici les prêtres et les lévites qui revinrent avec Zorobabel, fils de Chéaltiel, et Josué: Séraya, Yirméya, Esdras,	1 These are the priests and the Levites who came back with Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua:
2 Amarya, Malouk, Hatouch,	2 Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,
3 Chekanyas, Réhoum, Mérémot,	3 Amariah, Mal uch, Hattush, Shecaniah, Rehum, Meremoth,
4 Iddo, Ginneton, Abiya,	4 Iddo, Ginnethoi, Abijah,
5 Miyamin, Maadyas, Bilga,	5 Mijamin, Maadiah, Bilgah,
6 Chémayas; plus: Yoyarib, Yédaya,	6 Shemaiah, and Joiarib, Jedaiah,
7 Salou, Amok, Hilkiyas, Yédaya. C’étaient les chefs des prêtres et de leurs frères, au temps de Josué.	7 Sal u, Amok, Hilkiah, Jedaiah -- these were the heads of the priests and their kinsmen in the days ofJeshua.
8 lévites: Josué, Binnouï, Kadmiel, Chérébyas, Yéhouda, Mattanyas: ils dirigeaient le chant d’action de grâce.	8 The Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, Mattaniah -- this last, with his brothers,was in charge of the songs of praise,
9 Bakboukyas, Ouni, et leurs frères, formaient le deuxième chœur, selon leurs classes.	9 while Bakbukiah and Unno, their col eagues, formed the alternate choir to theirs.
10 Josué engendra Yoyakim, Yoyakim engendra Élyachib, Élyachib Yoyada,	10 Jeshua fathered Joiakim, Joiakim fathered Eliashib, Eliashib fathered Joiada,
11 Yoyada engendra Yohanan, et Yohanan engendra Yadoua.	11 Joiada fathered Johanan, and Johanan fathered Jaddua.

22 Les chefs de familles et les prêtres furent enregistrés jusqu’au règne de Darius le Perse, au temps d’Élyachib, de Yoyada, de Yohanan et de Yadoua.	22 In the time of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan and Jaddua, the heads of the families of priests wereregistered in the Book of Chronicles, up to the reign of Darius the Persian.
23 Les fils de Lévi, chefs des familles, furent inscrits sur le Livre des Chroniques, mais seulement jusqu’au temps de Yohanan, petit-fils d’Élyachib.	23 The Levites who were heads of families were registered in the Book of Chronicles up to the time ofJohanan, grandson of Eliashib.
24 Voici les chefs des lévites: Hachabyas, Chérébyas, Josué, Binnouï et Kadmiel; ils se tenaient face à leurs frères Mattanyas, Bakboukyas et Obadyas, et les deux groupes, face à face, exécutaient les hymnes de louange et d’action de grâce selon la règle fixée par David, l’homme de Dieu.	24 The heads of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, while their brotherswho formed an alternate choir for the hymns of praise and thanksgiving, as David, man of God, had prescribed,section corresponding to section,
25 Méchoullam, Talmon et Akoub, étaient portiers, ils montaient la garde devant les magasins situés près des portes.	25 were Mattaniah, Bakbukiah and Obadiah. Meshul am, Talmon and Akkub were the gatekeepersguarding the stores at the gates.
26 Ceux-ci vivaient au temps de Yoyakim fils de Josué, fils de Yosadak, et au temps de Néhémie le gouverneur et d’Esdras le prêtre-scribe.	26 These lived in the days of Joiakim son of Jeshua, son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah thegovernor and of Ezra the priest-scribe.
27 Pour l’inauguration du rempart de Jérusalem, on alla chercher les lévites partout où ils habitaient; on les fit venir à Jérusalem de façon que l’inauguration soit célébrée dans la joie avec des chants d’actions de grâce, au son des cymbales, des harpes et des cithares.	27 At the dedication of the wal of Jerusalem the Levites were sent for, wherever they lived, to come toJerusalem and joyful y perform the dedication with hymns of thanksgiving and songs to the accompaniment ofcymbals, lyres and harps.
28 Les chantres fils de Lévi se rassemblèrent donc de toute la région qui entoure Jérusalem, des villages de Nétofa,	28 Accordingly, the levitical singers assembled from the district round Jerusalem, from the vil ages ofthe Netophathites,
29 de Beth-Ha-Gilgal, des champs de Guéba et d’Azmavèt. Les chantres avaient en effet construit leurs villages aux alentours de Jérusalem.	29 from Beth-Gilgal and from their farms at Geba and Azmaveth -- for the singers had built themselvesvil ages al round Jerusalem.
30 Les prêtres et les lévites se purifièrent, puis ils purifièrent le peuple, les portes et le rempart.	30 When the priests and Levites had purified themselves, they then purified the people, the gates andthe wal .
31 Alors j’ai fait monter les chefs de Juda sur le rempart et je les ai disposés en deux groupes. Le premier avançait sur le haut du rempart vers la droite, en direction de la porte du Fumier.	31 I then made the leaders of Judah come on to the top of the wall and appointed two large choirs. Onemade its way along the top of the wal , to the right, towards the Dung Gate;
32 Derrière lui marchaient Hochayas et une moitié des chefs de Juda,	32 bringing up the rear were Hoshaiah and half the leaders of Judah,
33 avec Azarias, Esdras, Méchoullam,	33 and also Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam,
34 Yéhouda, Benjamin, Chémayas et Yirméya.	34 Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah and Jeremiah,
35 On les avait choisis parmi les prêtres et on leur avait donné des trompettes. Ensuite venait Zékaryas fils de Yonathan, fils de Chémayas, fils de Mattanyas, fils de Mika, fils de Zakour, fils d’Asaf.	35 of the priests, with trumpets; then Zechariah son of Jonathan, son of Shemaiah, son of Mattaniah,son of Micaiah, son of Zaccur, son of Asaph,
36 Lui et ses frères Chémayas, Azaréel, Milalaï, Gilalaï, Maaï, Nétanéel, Yéhouda et Hanani, portaient les instruments de musique de David, l’homme de Dieu; le scribe Esdras marchait à leur tête.	36 with his kinsmen, Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Juda, Hanani, with the musicalinstruments of David, man of God. 37 En arrivant à la porte de la Fontaine, ils sont montés droit devant eux, à côté des escaliers de la Cité de David, par le sommet du rempart et par la rampe du palais de David, jusqu’à la porte des Eaux, à l’est.	37 At the Fountain Gate they went straight on up the steps of the City of David, along the top of therampart by the stairway of the wal , above the Palace of David as far as the Water Gate, on the east.
38 Le second groupe s’avançait par la gauche; je l’ai suivi avec la moitié des chefs du peuple sur le haut du rempart, du côté de la tour des Fours et jusqu’au gros mur.	38 The other choir made its way to the left; I and half the leaders of the people fol owed them along thetop of the wal from the Tower of the Furnaces to the Broad Wall,
39 Puis nous avons dépassé la porte d’Éphraïm, la porte des Poissons, la tour de Hananéel et la Tour-des-Cent jusqu’à la porte des Brebis, et nous nous sommes arrêtés à la porte de la Garde.	39 from the Ephraim Gate, the Fish Gate, the Tower of Hananel and the Tower of the Hundred as far asthe Sheep Gate, and they came to a halt at the Prison Gate.
40 Les deux groupes sont pris place ensuite dans le Temple de Dieu; j’avais avec moi la moitié des fonctionnaires,	40 The two choirs then took their places in the Temple of God. But I had half the magistrates with me
41 ainsi que les prêtres Élyakim, Maaséyas, Minyamin, Mika, Élyoénaï, Zékaryas, Ananyas, avec leurs trompettes,	41 as wel as the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, Hananiah with thetrumpets,
42 et Maaséyas, Chémayas, Éléazar, Ouzi, Yohanan, Malkiyas, Élam et Ézer. Les chantres étaient dirigés par Yizrahya.	42 and Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malchijah, Elam and Ezer. The singers sangloudly under the direction of Jezrahiah.
43 Ce jour-là nous avons offert de nombreux sacrifices et le peuple a fait éclater sa joie, car Dieu lui avait donné un grand sujet de joie; les femmes et les enfants participaient à la fête, et la joie de Jérusalem s’entendait au loin.	43 There were great sacrifices offered that day and the people rejoiced, God having given them goodcause for rejoicing; the women and children rejoiced too, and the joy of Jerusalem could be heard from far away.
44 En ce temps-là on confia les salles prévues pour les provisions, les taxes, les prémices et les dîmes à ceux qui devaient y entreposer la part que la Loi donne aux prêtres et aux lévites; il en arrivait de toutes les villes du pays, car le peuple de Juda était satisfait des prêtres et des lévites qui faisaient le service.	44 For the rooms intended for the treasures, contributions, first-fruits and tithes, supervisors were thenappointed whose business it was to col ect in them those portions from the town lands awarded by the Law tothe priests and Levites. For Judah rejoiced in the officiating priests and Levites,
45 Ils assuraient le service de leur Dieu et le service des purifications; les chantres et les portiers observaient les règlements de David et de son fils Salomon.	45 since they -- with the singers and gatekeepers -- performed the liturgy of their God and the rites of purification as ordained by David and his son Solomon.
46 En effet, déjà au temps de David, Asaf était chef des chantres, et on avait des cantiques de louange et d’actions de grâce à Dieu.	46 For from ancient times, from the days of David and Asaph, they had been the leaders in renderinghymns of praise and thanksgiving to God.
47 Et dès le temps de Zorobabel Israël donnait la part qui revenait aux chantres et aux portiers, jour après jour; on donnait aux lévites les offrandes, et les lévites les remettaient aux fils d’Aaron.	47 In the days of Zerubbabel and Nehemiah, al Israel supplied regular daily portions for the singers andgatekeepers, and gave the dedicated contributions to the Levites; and the Levites gave the dedicatedcontributions to the Aaronites.
